I'm walking per doctor's orders while recovering from surgery. I used to love to walk, did it regularly and easily. Now, I'm finding that my legs get tired after 10 min. and I'm not doing much more than 15-20min. It's better than nothing, but I'm thinking of the "old days" when I walked a min. of an hour at a time. It's been about 6 wks since the surgery and I feel great overall. I'm wondering if it's a good or bad idea to push myself beyond that point of resistance (when my legs are longing to be home...)

Just do what you can do. Push yourself as much as you and your Dr think is right for you. I tend to be an all or nothing person, thinking that if I can't give it an hour, then I had just as well not bother. But any movement is better than none. I'm trying to teach myself that.

45 more minutes on my elliptical today which takes me to 4 hs and 35 min this week. My goal is 20 hours for the month or 5 each week. I was going to rest tomorrow. I haven't decided if I am going to go on a walk to make my goal for the week.

Snowbird -- wow, are you thinking now you may go for the higher goal you were originally thinking about? Easier than you thought?

Still plugging away at my 4 miles a day (extra 4 mi). I'm at 38 miles for the month to date, but would like to get the average speed up to more like 3.7 mph to give myself a cushion so the average comes out to at least 3.5 without having to run the whole last week!

This is a great challenge :) I use the elliptical everyday.. and i try my best to park in parking spots further away from stores that I'm going into just to get that extra walk in. I'm also trying to make it a daily thing (during the week) to use the wii fit - my favorite seems to be the free step, I can throw on some music of watch a show on tv and just get to stair stepping :)
