We both read all the time, so much so that we've run out of room for bookcases.:grumble:
He likes military history and who done its. I like horror & naughty romances and history.

    Thank the gods for ebooks!

For those with a kindle, you might want to check out Pixel of Ink. They post about 15-20 free ebooks a day. Some are crap of course but I can usually find atleast 2 books a week that pique my interest. If you like them on facebook they post the free books there as well so they are easy to grab.
    http://www.pixelofink.com/

They also have seperate sites for different genres but I haven't checked those sites out yet.

Also, the book was better than the movie. Just saying. :)

Never once has there been a comparison where the movie was better.
The Terminator series. Really, those never should have gone to print...but I did read all of them. Oh, and Star Wars series. The original books were great, but when they remade them to fit to movies they ruined the whole thing.

Rebecca was better than the book.

The Notebook was leaps and bounds better than the book.

I haven't read the book, but I've heard the movie of Practical Magic is better than the book.

There are a few others, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

I thought that Interview with the Vampire the movie was better than the book. But thats just me.

My husband reads daily, always has, it's something he has enjoyed all his life. He taught our son to read when he was 5 years old and so our son also enjoys daily reading. Reading makes them both great conversationalist and increases their intellect. I love that they take turns reading me to sleep at night! :)

  • Do men read books?

I do not have a single male friend that I know of that reads books. Oh, maybe a sports book on baseball history or something, but I have never seen one of my male friends read before. I read, but I hide it because I'm embarrassed because it seems like something women do. Also, it does appear that a lot of books are geared more for women than men. I have great difficulty finding books to read. I like rock & roll history, and other weird stuff. I don't like fiction much, unless it's really funny, or really scary. But, mostly I just read weird stuff, philosophy, other worldly material, diet and exercise, etc.

Ouch... you need new male friends. I read tons, most of it non-fiction but not all, a decent number of textbooks/science things, some history, some poli-sci, some sci-fi, physiology, technology, psychology, business, sociology, archeology, some news stuff (except most news is crap).

I start going into withdrawal if I don't keep working out my brain. (Oh yeah, plus poetry, but not a lot of new stuff... usually just the same stuff I've liked for years that I keep going back to.)

Oh, and if it's a 'are guys who read girly' thing, I'm also a lifelong practioner of martial arts (various open hand and Japanese sword), as well as other exercise: weights, swimming, etc. I don't like to think of myself as girly. I don't have a motorcycle at the moment, but I did for quite a while, and I can start a fire without matches. (What are the criteria, again?)

Seriously. Wow, I read constantly - devour all kinds of books, fiction or not. As far as I know, I've been a male all my life (55 years).

I read almost non stop. When I read books it is mostly sci-fi/fantasy fiction. But I read all sorts of books and articles on growing gardens, raising chickens, weightlifting, weight loss, hunting, or anything else I am interesting in learning. Love politics and history also.

You need to get a new friend.

I read and write quite a lot. I'll read anything as long as it's interesting. its one of my favorite things to do.

I know a lot of guys who read so no it's not just ladies.

    I also agree with him!
Why be ashamed of reading? Soon those of us who actually read and write will be the only ones left to teach tomorrow's leaders thanks to silly "text speech!"

Pick up "The Hobbit" and "Lord Of The Rings" By J.R.R. Tolkien two of the best fiction books ever written.

I read so much I had to buy a Kindle because I have very little storage space in my flat for books. Now I can have all the books I want and not worry about how or where I'm going to store them. they fit nicely in my Kindle acct. I own 4,735 Kindle computer books not counting what I have on my Kindle, extra hard drive, and actual ones I'd say well over 6,000 is small estimate. I'm always getting free ones from daily free list. What can I say I  books and always have since I was two.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I appreciate it. I've read a good bit in my life. It just got away from me the past few years and I've always noticed that my guy friends don't read.

Anyway, not to worry. I just downloaded Stephen Kings 11/23/63 to my kindle. I'm enjoying it so far.

It amazes me that so many women surround themselves with troglodytes and then paint all men with that brush. This hurts our society.

YES I READ, MY FATHER READS, MY BROTHER READS, MY UNCLES READ, MY SON READS.

My hubby reads constantly (even when watching TV) and so does my son age 21. I hate to read and I try to read the newspaper everyday, one magazine a month and 2-3 books a year at the request of my son.
