Have you ever heard the "Oh, you're just big boned." Um...really?? No I'm not. When I die and someone comes to dig up my grave, trust me...they won't find "BIG" bones.

I get told this.

Yes, I've been told I have a "pretty face" but I've also been told I have "pretty hair" and "pretty eyes" and a "pretty smile". I guess I just don't take offense to any of it. I like being given compliments however I get them.0 -
So instead of saying you have a pretty face you want to hear you have nice boobs or a great *kitten*? I gues us guys CAN"T win....That's what i've ALWAYS heard.... I can't wait for the day when people tell me "you're so pretty" ...not just that I have a pretty face.

Oh definitely, I more so get offended when I say something about how I need to lose weight, or i'm not comfortable with my weight and people respond with "yeah, but you have a pretty face" ....that's like "yeah, I know you're fat...but you have a pretty face so that makes it better"

Same here I'm told all the time that people love how I apply my make up. I take it as a compliment, I don't think it's a bad thing... My sister and I joke that we were blessed with "pretty faces" and cursed with big bodies.0 -

I once got told "you look nice, that outfit really shows off your pretty face".. I was like WTF? I'm not wearing an outfit on my face!
I just smile, since I'm so used to getting comments like that - I'll probably not believe anyone that said I was anything other than "nice", or "cute" even when I do lose the weight *shrugs*
I do get told I have a nice cleavage sometimes, and I'm happy with that :P But I still wish people would look at all of me and say I'm amazing 0 -

ha! Nobody ever follows that rule! Honestly, I don't think a number can tell you what someone looks like...some people do carry it well, some have more muscle than fat... some are taller, shorter etc. If I was 5'2 and weighed what I weigh now, I would look horrible! *not that I don't now* but Ive heard so many guys say I don't want a girl that weighs more than 120....i'm 5'9....120 would look GROSS on me.0 -

I'm also complimented on my eyes and smile a lot...I don't mind them, they are good features...I would just like to be called overall pretty , or beautiful...not just one part of me. *shrugs*0 -

I honestly don't get why someone telling you your makeup is pretty is an insult. I love when people comment on my makeup lol. I mostly get comments on my eye makeup and eyebrows. It takes time and effort to put on some of the stuff I do and I think it's awesome when someone besides my husband notices lol.
When I get my eyebrows done, its nice. And I do a good job of eye makeup on my own face. Not that I cake it on or anything.
I truly think these compliments can be sincere, but there are a lot of people who talk about women who are fake, e.g. "I can remove90% of your beauty with a kleenex" etc type comments out there. Plus I have a lot of experience with women being catty. I'm not always sure that someone isn't being nasty.... but I know that it has not always been sincere, and I am pretty good at my gut feelings.
I was told this twice on the internet recently, so there is the lack of hearing someone's tone of voice... yet. I have *never* heard a guy compliment my makeup. He just says I'm gorgeous or pretty or nice eyes, etc.
EDIT TO ADD - If i heard it from YOU and I could see that you love makeup too, I would take it as a total compliment, because I see that you don't think you're just "TOO BEAUTIFUL" to wear makeup. ITs kind of like a snobby thing some people say when they think they don't have to wear much or any at all. I'm all for natural beauty but I like to enhance with makeup.0 -
