No Results??? I give up!!

Four pounds is not no results! Four punds is very good results. This isn't about a quick fix its a life change. You are going the correct direction and that is really good. Maybe you need to really measure your food at first to make sure your portions are correct and be sure you are workingout as hard as you believe and record on MFP. Also don't eat all your workout earned extra calories-of course you will need to eat some to keep your enegy level but if you aren't accurate on how hard your work out was you may eat too much. Hang in there! You need supportive friends and small goals that you should reward yourself for. Like a new pair of shoes when you lose 10lbs! Good Luck!0

Keep at it. I have keep yo-yo-ing between 5-10 lbs since april 28th. Hold your chin up. I like to look at my progress chart both at the 7day and 90 day. Even though I haven't been on MFP for 90 days I like to see how my weight goes up and down but still in a manner that is progressively slanting downward instead of upward. Like you I had high expectations to loose all 20lbs in the first month!! However, I have learned that because I do have a smaller amount to loose than many that those are going to be even harder to lose.
Don't give up. From your last post it looks like you have wind back in your sails.... don't loose it. You got this.0 -
there are a lot of people in the same boat you are, including me, hang in there and listen to some of the advice that these wonderful people will give you. You can do this!0
-
People with not a lot of weight to lose to begin with, like you, tend to lose smaller amounts. Obese people tend to shed really quickly at first so you can't compare yourself to them.
A pound a week is good. Try to really eat clean and train mean - mix up your exercise and intensity are the keys.
Hang in there!0 -
You can't compare yourself to other people, a pound a week is a healthy weight loss. I am sure that many of the people that lost 18-20 pounds in a month had more weight to lose than you. From your profile pic, you don't look like you have alot of extra weight to lose. You should never give up on something you really want.0

So, you've lost roughly a pound a week then and that's not a success?
You need to revise your expectations. Your body is doing just fine...
So true! A pound a week, thank you sir for putting like that! Stay strong sis you look small as it is, remember those of us that did lose 20lbs in the first month or so, actually had excess weight to lose. Have you checked your bmi? Don't sweat it and definitely don't give up, you will just find yourself right back at it after long! Good luck sis0 -
1-2 pounds a week should be the GOAL... and think about it...
Did you gain all 30 in 7 months? Doubt it... bite by bite, little by little... it crept on. It will leave the same way. Your skin and helath will thank you.0 -
It have been 4 mons on MFP changing tons of bad habits and I HAVENT DROPPED A POUND! I think your are doing great and bodies are differents. I dont give up even the scale says something I dont like but my clothes are getting lose and plp ask me if Im losing weight.... I guess my body is adjusting to all this changes Im doing.0
-
never give up honey!i know the feeling tho. the first time i did this i lost 105 in 6 months BUT i wasnt eating healthy at ALL. now i see the scale move maybe 2 lbs per week, but i know that im doing it the RIGHT way. keep doing what u are doing and it will come off before u know it. slow and steady is the EXACT way to do it.0

Thanks again for everyone's support.
For those of you that have negative things to say.....I appreciate that too, because it shows that you use all of your anger and negativity to push your way through this, and that is admirable.
Quitting smoking 21 days ago (I guess that does make me a quitter)
combined with the loss of a pregnancy and trying to get into shape....I'd like to see a show of hands for those of you that conquered all of that in FIVE WEEKS.
I did filter through all of the replies, and I got off my complaining *kitten* and did 250 jumping jacks, followed by Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred.
So, thank you all again for your positive support. There is proof that complete strangers CAN help each other.
Have a fabulous DAY!!!
Good luck in your journey and I'm sorry to here about the loss of a pregnancy. That must have been very difficult.0 -
It took me 7 whole months to lose 30 pounds. I have a friend who lost 35 pounds in 2 months. How? Anorexia.
SO ya I'm okay with it taking me 7 months. :drinker:0 -
4 lbs is 20% of your goal. 20% of goal in 30 days is excellent. You didn't gain the weigh overnight nor will it come off overnight.
My body is not meant to be sexy I guess.
I don't understand self pity. The one thing for sure, if you quit it won;t be sexy. If you keep at it, you will. - The choice is yours.0 -
DON"T GIVE UP!!!
Those people that are heavier tend to lose weight a bit faster, but when you are not extremely over weight a person tends to lose weight at a slower rate. You also need to keep in mind that your body is also building muscle when you exercise like you are. You should drink lots of water on a daily bases! All I can say is giving up is not an answer, there are so many people on mfp for support! We all need encouragement and help from time to time. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!0 -
4 lbs in one month when you only have 20 to lose is awesome! you should be very proud of yourself!! don't quit. And for the record, Muscle does not weight more than fat...5 lbs is 5 lbs, regardless, just 5 lbs of muscle looks MUCH better than 5 lbs of fat!! That could very well be your case...pull out the tape measure...do ANYTHING but give up...what is giving up going to accomplish?? probably gaining back the 4 lbs you worked your *kitten* off for, and possibly more making you even unhappier then you are now. It's a hard process, stick to it though, it's worth it!!! Best of luck!!
Yes, muscle does weigh more than fat, that is like saying bricks don't weigh more than feathers. Yes 5 lbs of either will weigh the same. The phrase "muscle weighs more than fat" is meant in terms of size. Think how big of a bag of feathers you would have to have to get to 20 pounds, while it only takes about 4 bricks to weigh 20 pounds0 -

I've lost a pound a week and I see nothing wrong with that ;3. The less you weigh, the longer it will take you to lose~0

That is true, it is extemely hard to gain a lot of muscle and even harder to do it fast, naturally anyway. However, someone that doesn't have much muscle at all will gain a small amount pretty quickly when they first start working out just because their muscles have gone from no activity to a lot of activity, the same way people who are 300 pounds and go from eating McD's and not exercising to eating good and working out a lot lose a lot of weight really fast the first couple of months. So realistically she may have gained some muscle mass and actually lost a little over 4 pounds of fat the first month. Either way 4 pounds a month is a pretty good pace, especially since she only has 30 to lose0 -
Don't give up OP! I am in the same shoes as you. I've been doing Insanity for a month and "only" lost four pounds and my body hardly looks any different from 30 days ago. It's definitely difficult seeing pictures or hearing stats from other people who've seen drastic results in that short period of time. But one pound a week is good, and the closer you are to your goal weight, the slower the weight will come off. Although it is very frustrating that your goal seems so far off going at this rate, just keep reminding yourself that small changes are far better than sitting around doing nothing. I am confident you will get there, and so will I.0

Never give up!! I believe your doing great, you just started and you've lost 4lbs, that is awesome! I started in March, and It's taken me 4 months to lose 5lbs, I'm a lot smaller when I started, but girl It will take time! Hang in there!0

Oh stop it. People you see on MFP who have lost 16 pounds in a month are usually OBESE, like I was when I started losing weight. I have lost 38 pounds and I am still quite overweight, 200 pounds, so my weight loss is still going to seem more than someone who only has 30 pounds to lose. Your weight loss is proportionate to your current weight!
Yes, it very well may take you 7 months to lose the rest of your weight. So? The 7 months is going to pass anyway so you might as well just go on and lose the weight. Or you can just 'give up' i.e go back to whatever it was that caused you to gain the extra 30 pounds in the first place.
You DON'T have to go the rest of your life with your stomach resting on your lap. If you choose to, that's your business. But understand it is your choice.
I agree with this. Often obese people have huge weight loss to begin with, simply because they can have an easy 1000cal deficit, whereas someone who has say 30lbs to lose, wouldn't be able to. Unfortunately if you start off a bit overweight, it will take longer, but that comes with the positive of staying off, for good.
Hang in there mama, a pound a week is a respectable loss.0
