jlbay, I am always inspired to eat better when I am in the presence of people with terrible eating habits. i agree that you could be a good example to your mom.
I did "Sweatin' to the Oldies" this morning and the dogs danced with me sometimes standing up with their paws on my shoulders.:laugh:0 -
The Hard Body Extreme total body workout was just that...extreme!! I could barely get out of bed this morning! I am sore everywhere! I think today may be a nice walk on the treadmil day! I will do the workout again tomorrow...I think!:laugh:0

So I didn't workout yesterday because I was just in too much pain! I decided I needed to take a break! So I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for working out everyday until that point and staying below my calories so I decided to get on the scale this morning, just to see...up 2 lbs!!! :mad: :mad: HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!!!! I felt so bad after seeing that! I almost crashed and went to mcdonalds for breakfast! But I didn't, I stayed good HOPING this is some water weight or something!! I just can't believe this!! What can I possibly do in 2 days to make my check in better??????!!!!!:sad: :sad: :sad:0

Wow, that is odd. I think I've read on here somewhere that your muscles can retain water when you are working out hard - but I can't swear to it. I'm looking for the thread, but I can't find it. I know how you feel, though. I really have to work hard not to let that scale get me down and remember that the exercise and eating well WILL make a difference. I don't know what else to say! Maybe drink plenty of water and weigh again on Thursday??
Don't let it get to you! You are doing great work and it WILL make a difference. Don't let one step on the scale set you back. Good luck and I hope Thursday has a better result for you. Try to stay positive - I know it is hard.0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: akgrant, do not get discouraged. There is no immediate response to vigorous exercise. the scale doesn't know everything. Keep on doing what you're doing. continue to eat only healthy food and continue with exercise (after your day of rest) and you will see results. Don't let anything send you to McDonald's.:laugh: :laugh:

Thanks JLBAY and BARBIE, you guys are great as always! I did get on the scale again this morning just to try to make some sense of it :huh: The "batt" warning came up and it would not display my weight!! The last time I needed to change the battery, I used what I thought was a new battery but something that was around the house. Maybe, just maybe this is the cause of the crazy number yesterday!!?? :grumble: I can only hope! I am going to go get some new batteries today so I can check in tomorrow!:laugh:

Oh, yeah, battery issues on the scale can make it go haywire. Really, akgrant, scales are Evil.
I'm ready for weigh in. Actually, I've been having these GI issues, so I would be AMAZED if I haven't lost some weight. My doctor is treating me for "gastritis" but is going to make me get some tests. She says it is probably IBS. Great. I finally have my family's "nervous stomach." I'm actually having trouble getting in enough food to have energy. Blech. I don't like it when my body fails me. :sad: The doctor says it is probably stress - guess I need to learn to cope better.0 -
Down 1.5 lbs! Oh-so-close to my TD goal. Still - I doubt I will lose 3 lbs in the next week, especially since we leave for Texas on Saturday. ONE WEEK till goal!! I'm so excited.
I've been feeling very impatient lately! I think about how much work and effort went into getting to this point - then I look in the mirror and I still see I have a way to go. I want to be happy with where I'm at and stay positive and focused! Sometimes it is hard - I just want to be at my goal already. After years of being overweight, I don't want to wait a few more months. I'm hoping we start our New Year's Day Goal Thread after this one to help me!

still stuck in the 147s... at 147.6, i know it is because last weekend was my birthday, so i guess i should just be happy that i havent gained? i feel like i havent lost in FOREVER though, so that song and dance is getting a little tired. sigh, and i know it will be hard to leave when im home for turkey day ..... just need to get my butt back in gear! i am doing well with working out, just eating is posing a problem with all of the special events lately... i just can't bring myself to deprive myself! i know thats bad, and its really what i need to work on...0 -

So I changed the battery last night and I'm still up BUT not by 2 lbs!...up .8 oz and I think I was up last week .4 oz so that puts my weight loss at 9 lbs instead of 10! :grumble: I seem to do better when I just do what I'm suppose to do and let the numbers fall where it may instead of pushing myself and then stressing about the weigh loss that week!! I did take my measurements as well to get a more accurate number so I don't freak out too much over the scale! That was too stressful!!:ohwell:

Even if we haven't achieved the goals we set, we've achieved the goal of never giving up and staying focused on what we want MOST so if you're reading this, then you are one of the winners and you will get there even if it's not at the speed you'd hoped for.

We're a week from Thanksgiving. We're going to eat at the home of the mom of an old friend......it will be a potentially awkward situation
I don't do well in social situations so I'm staying in the moment and not thinking about it.:laugh: :laugh:

I'm excited because even though the weight loss has been slow -- four pounds in 2 1/2 months -- it has been happening, which it wasn't before! I hit a new low (in the last couple of years) today: 194.0. I don't think I'm going to make 192 by Thanksgiving, but I'm motivated to keep losing, even if very gradually. And my jeans are looser!!!0

I have a confession:blushing: I completely blew my calories yesterday and today AND I did not work out at all!!I plan to get back on track tomorrow but I have to say that I really feel like crap! Not just emotionally for not being good but physically...I feel bloated and fat and just yuck:frown: My stomach looks/feels swollen and I swear the looseness of my pants seems to be gone! It's amazing how bad I feel...I guess my body is starting to get use to eating less food and exercise, now I just have to listen!:blushing:

I just wanted to report that I am back on track! I burned 600 calories on the treadmill this morning and I just prepared a really low fat/high protein Santa Fe soup for lunch and only got a cupful! :happy:

That's especially good news since we are having dinner in a completely unpredictable setting and the food choices are likely to all be bad. :sad: :sad: :sad: We're only bringing the sparkling cider which I won't drink because I don't waste my calories on beverages.

Hi everyone!! Happy Thanksgiving!!! Well, I didn't reach my TD goal of 160. I've been stuck at 169 for while. Just haven't seemed to get in the workouts that I need. On the bright side, I started this challenge at 175, so I'm still steadily losing. :happy: Slow, but sure. My overall goal is 145 and I know I'll get there. Hi Everybody! Sorry for the late post, I can't believe how busy I have been the last 3 days! No time to even get on the internet! :noway:
I did not meet my goal for TD and I haven't worked out at all since Wed! I have my surgery on Thurs and I have alot of do before then so hopefully I will be able to workout.

Hi everyone. I just got back from Thanksgiving in Texas.
I didn't make my TD goal - which was 152. However, I was at 154, so within 2 lbs!! I am very happy with my progress and hope to only be in the 150s for a short while.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the thread - this really helped me stay motivated. So, are we going to do another thread for NY goal!? I'm definitely going to need some support to survive the Holidays!0 -

I am happy to announce that I am now wearing a size 10 pants!!! woo-hoo!! While admittingly, these feel like a "big" size 10, the tag says size 10 so I am happy about that!!! :laugh:0

Hi Barbie! But didn't you meet your goals?? I'm kind of disappointed here:ohwell: ....guess I have to look for another thread! Well, at least I have you as a friend! And my surgery went well and I've stopped taking painkillers during the day. But the doctor is telling me no working out for at least 4 weeks so I seriously have to watch what I eat!0

:flowerforyou: akgrant, your kids are sure cute, so I'll bet you're good looking too.:bigsmile: I met my weight loss goal for Thanksgiving but haven't met my ultimate weight loss goal. You're probably right about finding another thread......the ones I post on are for 50+ women and seniors and another one called "fit and fun sized" for people shorter than 5'4".......I know there are lots of good challenges
I don't know what kind of surgery you had, but is there something you can do with just your arms or sitting in a chair or something that would be OK during your recovery or was the surgery so major that any exertions would put a strain on your recovery?
