I'm in. I've been walking for a month or so. Started out 30 minutes a day and now I'm up to an hour. I drove the route and it's about 3 miles or so. That's a 20 minute mile but there are some beastly hills.0

Just saw this...some days I bike, some I walk. Today I walked 2 miles, over to the elementary school and back in about 44 minutes. Did the same walk last week in record time for me --40 minutes!! With my bum knee, I'm pretty pleased to have hit 3 mph!! )0

Go for a long walk after work. I haven't worn the pedometer lately but it usually tells me I do somewhere between 4,000-5,000 steps in a 30 minute walk at 2-2.5 mph and a 12-15 inch stride so I'm thinking maybe an hour walk would do it. But if you're counting steps, I assume you're wearing a pedometer of some sort so you could just walk until you're halfway to your goal and then turn around and go back the same way so that chances are you'll hit 10K by the time you get home.0 -
OK--if people are adding in previous walks, the most memorable this month were:
Aug 3 2 hours beachcombing with the kids and nieces and nephews and fam at family reunion, including trying really hard to maintain balance on all that slippery seaweed that was exposed during the early morning negative tide! My brother said the balancing act adds to the calorie burn! ha ha
Aug 4 2.5 hours hiking (including rest time at the waterfall bridge in the middle). Estimated 3 miles RT and 60-90 minutes actual walking time. Alot more than the "15 minute" hike my cousin claimed it would be, but then he's young and strong whilst I am 44 with a bum knee so it was quite an accomplishment to go up and down all those hills and not really have my knee hurt. The muscles along the back of my leg were screaming by the end, but my knee was fine. That was quite something for me!! )0
