I may get a lot of crap for this, but I am so tired of people saying you cannot spot reduce.
You keep on doing your own thing and say "**** everybody else!"0 -
How I feel after reading this thread:
I am not sure what is worse the reactions in this thread, or the thread starter by posting information that is only true if you choose to believe it.0 -
Oh my goodness...what a mess. I have to say that I understand what the OP was saying. I think she was merely making a statement that there are exercises out there that are more beneficial to certain parts of the bodies over other parts of the bodies. If you have a trouble area, which many of us do, there are exercises that may be better for focusing on that region. I have seen many people ask for advice on which workouts will help them with their trouble areas and instead of offering actual exercises people will just say "You can't spot reduce." Well, yes, you can't choose where your body burns fat from....but if you merely want exercises that work the muscles in a specific spot...then they exist! I have noticed a trend in people on here who are very well informed in the health and fitness area treating other people who may not be like crap just because they don't use the correct words or don't know everything already. There is no point in making someone feel stupid...it is not beneficial to anyone.
^^ THIS, YOU HATEFUL PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!0 -

It's similar to starting a discussion about religion or Santa Claus.0 -

Santa is real, only if you take the right amount of LSD.0 -
What if you want to spot-increase your fat?
That would be awesome: Then there would be no breast implants, you would just muscle through a few pizzas and choke back some haagen dazs and after all your hard work you'd have porn star titties. Instead of tight pants.0 -
*sigh* No, you really can't. Lol. But whatever, keep on believing what you want.0

Geez, this thread might be life-changing. If this is how annoying I sound when I'm arguing for my incorrect viewpoint, I'm going to go apologize to everyone I've ever known in my life. Starting with my wife.
Heh heh heh...:drinker:0 -
If we can spot reduce, why did I lose the fat off my face first by jogging, while my legs didn't change at all? I think fat distribution is genetically programmed and it goes on and comes off accordingly. I put weight on from the bottom up and take it off from the top down, no matter how much I run on the treadmill or how many squats I do. I'm just now seeing a reduction in my legs after losing more than 30 pounds, most of it off my tummy (without doing any ab work until recently) and my upper body.0

Just by looking at your profile pic you must've done thousands of crunches to spot reduce your ab's to where they are now. :laugh:0 -

Crunches are meh but push ups are an awesome way to warm up for an intense chest workout.0 -
Since apparently spot reduction is possible, please tell me how to do it. I would love to spot increase and put on some extra fat in my boob and butt spots. Thanks OP!0

You can't spot reduce.
What your referring to is the building of muscle and changes to muscle fibers in those areas. You aren't actually necessarily reducing your fat content in those areas.
Yup0 -
sure, your 30 days of doing whatever debunks all the scientific research out there. you may have spot reduced your brain.0

Yup, I honestly thought this was another person trying to sell a workout video or protein shake.0 -
You CAN spot reduce with my miracle Unicorn Cream. It's $150 for a bottle of it. PM me if you are interested.
This statement has not been verified by the FDA.
Haha awesome.0 -

You'd think, if spot reduction worked, we'd all have started with thin faces from all the eating we did.0 -
I did 30 Day Shred and Ripped. Sure, I reduced in spots.
ALL of them.
So yes, you can spot reduce. But you're likely reducing ALL of your spots.
The only thing that didn't reduce was my arms.... because they grew muscles.0 -
How do people know what a person can't do with their body? My friend and I spot reduced, we used certain exercises for certain areas, worked out in the storage room at work, and the tape measurer was the proof. Call it what you want, all you nay sayers. You say its not being reduced, its building muscle. What does the tape measurer say? What do those loose clothes say? That the area is smaller, right. Its only a play of words. I agree with the post writer, you can spot reduce. Regardless how you do it or what you call it, people don't listen to "you can't".0

Face reduction - fat not replaced by muscle.
Leg staying the same - fat reduction replaced by muscle.
Not a spot reduction. Just no muscle increase on your face.0 -
I'm one of the skinny finger/wrist computer nerds no matter how much weight I put on. Runs in my family I just hope I don't have over tiny bones or I'm never gonna be able to lift heavy enough to get the muscle I want.0
