When my cousins gave me a blank stare when I referenced The Brady Bunch.

Seriously, who the hell doesn't know the Brady Bunch???
Hahaha! Same thing happened with my kids the other day. My huband and I were referring to a couple we know as "The Brady Bunch", and kids looked at me like I was nuts! Then my son said, "Who are they? Are they someone from church?"..lol!

Realizing that I am now the exact age my mom was when I graduated high school.
Knowing that my BFF from kindergarten has one child that has already graduated HS, and her second born is going into her senior year.
My nephew is getting ready to start his senior year.
I'll be 36 in January...40 is just around the corner. :ohwell:
The first time I talked about a "record" or a "cassette" and my niece/nephew said, "What's that?!"
I could go on, but I think you get the picture.

Oh yeah, here's a good one. Every morning when I get up, I sound like a bowl of rice crispies...SNAP! CRACKLE! POP! WHEN DID THAT START TO HAPPEN?!

While riding the bus back to the CHU's, "Paradise City" from GNR came on the radio.

Me: "Oh hell yeah, 1988! I was a junior in high school, and I saw these guys live in concert!"

One of my soldiers: "I wasn't even born yet."

    .....aaaaaaaaand I feel old now......

So , I'm only 18..but the comment about wanting the loud music to be turned down in the car scares me! lol...because that's just about the only way I can drive. But even, though I'm a 90's kid...I felt like I was getting older when I realized that now on Nick, they're playing shows that are just like the shows I watched as a kid...ie So Random is a less funny All That for Disney Channel.

My God-daughter started her senior year in high school yesterday. I felt old for about two minutes, until she reminded me she still follows me for shoe trends :)

Only for a moment I felt old when my grandson turned 18 and again when he graduated high school. Next old benchmark will be my oldest daughters 40th (not till 2014 thank goodness).

I've been going to swing dance lessons. Most of the participants are in their late teens/ early twenties.
I'm 28 yrs old. Not the oldest...but one of them.
When we learn something new we are encouraged to dance with new partners. It's up to the guys to choose the girls.
9 times out of 10 I am one of the last to get chosen. Then, a few weeks ago the guy that danced with me wouldn't make eye contact with me or even look in my direction. I later found out he is 18. I can just imagine him thinking, "ew...she's old".

When I turned the TV to Nick at Nite and saw that the original All That from back in the 90's is now being played on it. I'm 25 and both me and my husband wanted to cry when we saw this and we hugged eachother and both screamed "WE'RE OLD!"

When I realized that the 18-year-olds I see out at the clubs every weekend weren't even born yet when Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" came out. That album was life-changing for me--it started my love affair with 90's gangsta rap that still exists to this day.

Yep, I'm that professional looking white woman driving to work in my business suit and sensible heels, bumpin' "Ain't No Fun (If the Homies Can't Have None)" and spittin' out every lyric word for word. Take "Ain't No Fun" and replace it with any popular 90s rap hit, and the same story holds true.

There are several and they're all really recent (I'm 26).

    1. Working at my IT job at my law school, when I overheard a couple kids from the high school program debating what in the world the mysterious "Save" icon was supposed to represent.

    2. Seeing a commercial for one of those awful music mix CDs and it was playing everything I listened to in high school (I remember seeing those as a kid and the music was old).

    3. When I realized I was older than my mom was when I was born (passed that marker three years ago).

    4. On the MFP board, I read this infuriating thread from an OP who was just totally self-righteous and self-absorbed and calling everyone else rude and vigorously defending her own bad behavior (while acknowledging that it was indeed bad behavior). When I saw she was 18, I thought, "Figures." I was horrified at myself.

When I thought I was having a heart attack. I was grossly overweight for my height. But after the doctor confirmed that it wasn't a heart attack but only acid reflux (stop laughing! lol) I still decided to change my lifestyle. This happened in January 2010.

Probably about five years ago when I would come across people who didn't understand why marrying someone named "Don Johnson" was kinda funny... which I did...about six and a half years ago.

...when they played Pearl Jam on the "Oldies" radio station.

^^^this^^^ Also, when people ask me about my favorite band (Pearl Jam) and say "they're still a band?" The younger generation just doesn't know much beyond pop music.....and I'm only 31.....

I'm 33, and married for my first time to a man 12 years older, who has teenagers. I never felt old until I became a stepmom to teenagers! The exact moment I realized that I'm "old" to these kids happened during this coversation...

**All of us are in the car listening to Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger," and the 18 year old son is loving the song."
Me: "Hey D, do you know who they are talking about?"
    D: "Yeah, Mick Jagger."
Me: "You know who Mick Jagger is?"
D: "Yeah I know how he is!"
Me: "Um, what band is he the lead singer for?"
    D: "I don't know. Why should I know that?"
Me "Then you don't know who Mick Jagger is at all!"

I know The Rolling Stones were around way before my time but this still made me feel old!
