Yesterday showed a temporary weight gain. This morning I weighed 196.4 (Yay!) which makes more sense with my trending weight. Whew!0 -
I took some progress photos today. My total loss is 38.5 pounds, so close to 40! I don't see it when I look in the mirror, but this tells me everything I need to know! I have so far to go, but I'm not mad at this.

Hey everyone! I have 125 lbs to lose and trying really hard to stay on track this time, so I think a little support and accountability will help Congrats on all the amazing progress I see in here!

WELL DONE! INCREDIBLE! I will watch your progress so closely, as I am on a very similar path. Started at 301 in October and am at 284 right now. You are doing it right. Tell us more about how you are doing it, what your caloric intake is, workout schedule is, etc. For those of us that are new? If you are comfortable discussing, that is! Congrats!moodybear2003 wrote: »I took some progress photos today. My total loss is 38.5 pounds, so close to 40! I don't see it when I look in the mirror, but this tells me everything I need to know! Thank you! I try to keep my calories between 1500 and 1800. MFP gives me 1970. There are days I'm over, I feel like it all balances out. My diary is open, and I'm usually about 90% complete, there are times I just forget to log. I use a fitbit, and it adds in exercise calories for me. I don't usually pay it a lot of attention, I think it overestimates...
I aim for 4 days a week of working out, I don't always make it. I struggled all through Oct and Nov, I'm finally back on schedule. I do weight machines and cardio at planet fitness, a schedule laid out by the trainer there. I try to fit a jazzercise class at the Y in once a week on top of whatever else I do. Day 1 is leg day - leg press, the 2 hip machines, and calf press. Day 2 is Lateral pulldown, row, bicep curls, and 1 ab machine. Day 3 is pectoral fly, chest press, tricep extentions and pressdowns. Day 4 is supposed to be deltoid, overhead press, and ab machine. I usually skip day 4 of the trainer's plan, I kinda count my jazzercise day as day 4.
Cardio: I mix up between elliptical, arc trainer, treadmill (usually walking. But I just started a couch to running program!!) and bike. 20 to 30 minutes. Plus a 5 minute warm up walk before I start the weight machines.
I only work 20 hours a week, so I gave myself a lot to do since I had the time. My Job is about 90/10 sedentary/active. I work at a Library, so a lot of my day is sitting at the computer waiting to help someone, with the rest spent walking around putting away books, cleaning up, helping a patron with the computer.3 -

I recognized the Planet Fitness colors in the locker room! I am finally ready to start earnest exercise (not just a lot of walking). You look so great! I wish I'd taken a before picture, or even measurements. Seeing progress with something other than numbers on a scale is such a great motivator.1 -

So long ago I used to be a regular of this thread, the I fell away from MFP in general for about four years. It's awesome to see it still alive! A lot has happened since I disappeared--I graduated from 4 year college, lost an uncle, got a husband, and most recently graduated from grad school! In these four years my weight has really yo-yoed. When I left I was around 270-ish, and now I'm at 330. Now that I'm out of school and my husband and I are trying to conceive, I find myself more motivated than ever to get healthy! Also, I missed the support and accountability of this little community2

Nov 3 / 238.8 If I only stepped on a scale once a week, I’d be disappointed with this. Since I weigh and post daily on another thread, I know exactly why I didn’t lose weight (in fact, gained a bit midweek then lost it) so I know my struggles ARE showing progress even when I stumble.
Nov 10 / 237.4 / I weighed less yesterday, but last night’s dinner wasn’t until 9 pm and that really affects me even if the calories and sodium are on point.
Nov 18 / 237.6 / Last weekend I was out of town. Saturday the 10th I did fine, got my water in, and didn’t go off plan. Sunday the 11th I went completely off the rails. It has taken me *all* of this week just to get back to where I was last Saturday morning. This would be fine if I was on maintenance, but I’m not. I think I need this lesson now, right before the holidays, to really understand what one day’s overindulgence nets.
Nov 24 / 237.6 / Maintaining over Thanksgiving is definitely better than I managed two weeks ago.
Dec 1 / 235.8 / Yay!
Dec 8 / In Mexico, horrible water retention but no scale to prove it. (Got home 12/9, weight was 249.2 at 11:30 pm)
Dec 15 / 234.4 / Sick today. I am not going to count last week’s weight since it was so obviously messed up.

Hoping to get to 275 this month to meet that first mini goal! Oddly, I have a colonoscopy this week, soooo, that should help = False weight loss reading!
I'm happy to have hit the 20# loss mark, but don't see or feel a noticeable change yet. Something to look forward to. As we all know, when you have so much to lose, sometimes if just feels like, well ... so much to lose.
Onward!

I am afraid that I am a bit confused here. Is this group still open to folks? I have been here a bit over a month, down 24lbs and have 100+ lbs to loose. I would like to be a part of this if it's still open.

Hey all... Well.... What I thought would happen has happened. I was losing so well at a steady rate - as I was recouping from my foot surgery in late Nov. I had not been exercising. So I started with my new exercise regime and I am gaining! Common sense tells me this is normal because "muscle weighs more that fat" but when you are on such a good trek and then the numbers start creeping up, it's disappointing. Common sense is also telling me to stick with it because once my body adjusts to the new activity, the fat will burn faster. The problem is that I am an impatient person. I like seeing results, so I'm trying like hell not to let this get me down. Argh! Have any of you experienced this?

I haven't experienced this because I haven't really started exercising yet, but I want to encourage you to keep it up because in the end it's very good for your heart and circulation (not to mention muscles). You are an encouragement to me as I watched your numbers go down these past few months, so please keep it up and get healthy.2 -
Just started the first day of my 120 lb journey. Happy to find some friends that I can share my triumphs and downfalls with. It is always easier when you have people you can share with. Thanks for being here! Since it is Wednesday I will close with a wish. I wish that my feet will stay healthy this year so I can incorporate exercise back into my lifestyle.3

Hi everyone!! It's been awhile since I checked in here. I've been using a different app to log (just needed a change), but ultimately, I missed the community here, so I'm back. It's good to see some familiar faces, and I hope to get to know the newer folks quickly.
@blackhawkgirl91 --good to see you back! I think I was the one to tell you about the hockey team--or should I say THE hockey team? Just kidding @DebCountsAll .
Here are my stats:
Name: Karen
Age: 49
Height: 5’7"
Highest Weight: 247
Current Weight: 203
My goal is to lose about 20 lbs by June when I'm traveling to Iceland for a 50th birthday trip. I've previously gotten down 183 and maintained that weight for about 2 years before it started creeping back up again. I know I can get there again, and I have a whole closet full of clothes that will fit much better when I get there. More importantly, I felt better and was much healthier at that weight.
My plan is to track all of my calories and exercise regularly. I had been going to physical therapy twice a week for a frozen shoulder, but my PT just switched me to once a month, so that will free up a lot of time for the gym. He also cleared me to start lifting weights again. Not being able to lift is part of the reason I've gained (ice cream is the other reason--LOL). But seriously, I enjoyed the gym so much more when I could lift--I enjoy cardio, but it gets really boring and makes me so hungry that it almost feels counter-productive. I know it's not, but that's how it feels at times. On the contrary, strength training helps curb my appetite and makes me feel stronger, so I hope getting back into a lifting routine will help me reach my goal.0 -
I am very embarrassed by my weight. It is hard for me to be open about how much I actually weigh, and I usually prefer to just post how much I've lost rather than what I started out with. But I will post in this thread the actual numbers. And then I'll probably beat myself up for it, but what's the worst that could happen?
