It's Monday again. I had a decent weekend. Spent most of it doing homework and i'm still not done. Man, these teachers forget that they aren't the only class we have or something. I got so much reading to do and not enough time to do it.

I went for my walk today like a good girl. Got to break in my new sneakers. So far they seem ok, I think I'll need to break 'em in just a bit more and they'll be nice and comfy. My walking buddy is back from her vacay so we went together. She needed it cause she had a lot of restaurant food this past week and gained some weight. She's trying not to let it get her down and derail her like it would've in the past.

Yesterday was my weigh day and I had gained 4.5 lbs back. I hadn't gone on at all yesterday so this morning I decided to check my weight again to input it and I was down those same 4.5 lbs! Which makes me down a half a pound from last week. I know why I only lost that much and am totally fine with it. I don't let it get to me I will always fluctuate some especially because of hormones.

Hope everyone one is doing great, keep up the good work and drink, drink, drink....water that is.

Lauriek -- I think it's great that you have a trainer that really challenges you, and I guess you can tell that by the fact that you fall out from time to time.

Nicholsvj -- the problem I have with mini muffins (or mini bites of any kind) is that I tend to eat 3. I had 3 mini-Gu flapjacks yesterday...

Skinnyjeans -- good luck on the stairs. 48 floors on the Climb Master is a lot! Keep practising. I find down harder than up really; I get very frustrated that the Striiv only counts upstairs.

Tekavincent -- my family did a bit of a number on me on health and weight; I think setting up a cycle of eating stupidly low-calorie meals and then loads of unhealthy snacks. I too have photos of me looking perfeclty healthy at a time when my mum kept telling me to diet. The big revelation of the last two months for me is that I can eat three perfectly sensibly sized meals made of actual food, every day, and still hit my targets.

Lin (and other carers) -- Caring is so exhasuting and frustrating and takes so much out of you. Keep remembering it's a good thing you're doing, and keep taking time for yourself.

Various people on 'eating an elephant one bite at a time' -- I'm trying to think of it in 10% chunks. I had a 109 pound target; I've finished my first 10% of that and am nearly halfway to the second 10%. It doesn't feel so bad that way. If I think about the whole thing, or the length of time it might take, I get discouraged. I also have some intermediate targets -- 24lb is the NHS 'you can lose 10% of your bodyweight, and maintain, and you will feel better for it', and 40lb gets me to ONEderland -- and I'm going to have some big celebrations for each of those.

Check-in: just back from five days at my last long festival of the year. This time -- third time lucky for long weekends -- I logged all my food and exercise, and kept in balance within a couple hundred cals, right up till yesterday when I had a little more to eat because I was hungry. I think I'm being a touch too conservative on exercise calories. I live in mortal fear of over-counting exercise and under-counting food, especially when I'm away from home and can't weigh or use the HR monitor. At any rate, I think MFP's calculations for 'slow walking' underestimate when it's walking over fields.

I felt noticably thinner at the end of the weekend than I did at the beginning, and I have lost four pounds. Which gets me over a little hump I'd been having in August, where I'd lose and then gain.

I've been reading, but just reading was a struggle after five days away. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

    Good Morning.

I was just too worn out to go to the gym last night, but did manage to burn off some calories working around the house before crashing on the couch. I made it to bed early and feel like I slept better. I have session with trainer tonight, so hopefully I’ll have more energy today.

Susan~Sounds like you had a great plan for dinner at The Palm last night. Shrimp Cocktail is an excellent low calorie appetizer – I had it almost every night while on my cruise.

Nicole~Yep, sugar can definitely make you feel sluggish. My trainer and I talk a lot about inflammation (that can make you sluggish and impede weight loss), I was looking at a website yesterday about inflammatory and anti-inflammatory foods – sugar was on the list of inflammatory. So, I’m trying to make a conscious effort to avoid foods of an inflammatory nature and concentrate on getting more of anti-inflammatory foods in my body. The website I was looking is www.theconsiouslife.com, if you are interested. We all lose our mojo from time to time, you're doing great so know you'll find it again! :flowerforyou:

Tuesday goals~I really don’t have any new goals, I’m keeping up with both my nutrition and activity goals we have set for August – has anyone given any thoughts to a goal we might set for September?

    Everyone have a great Tuesday!

Belated Monday Check In - Weighed myself and again no change, but this is good as we were away again this weekend...another boozy/food filled affair. However it was the last one of the year, so I can really get myself back on track.

Tuesday Goals - Continue with five 30 minutes exercise per week and at least one protion of fruit/veg with each meal. This week is also to ensure that I log everyday, even on Saturday (when attending a wedding)

Tuesday goal: To be gentler on myself. One of my friends told me she tracked her food for two months and then consulted with a nutritionist in order to lose 30 lbs. I only tracked for two weeks and then expected to be able to make the huge changes right away that would set me on the right path ... and without any guidance! So, no wonder I am struggling. So ... my goal is to keep tracking, keep making positive changes in my food and lifestyle, and not beat myself up when I am not perfect.
    Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Laurie - have a great day with your trainer and kill those stairs. I know you can outperform your own expectations.
Those school shootings are becoming all too common, aren't they?

Vicki - glad you're seeing some size changes. Hope you see the scale move soon.

monarchris - I'm so proud of you for getting your walk up to 40 minutes - thats super!

janak - very attractive new picture! How nice of you to make room for relatives fleeing from the hurricane - I hope you are not inconvenienced for too long!

Karen - So sorry your son and his family are leaving you - very stressful indeed. I can imagine hard hard it will be for you living on your own as I had to do that after my divorce. There are some unexpected benefits if you approach it with an open heart and a sense of gratitude for the gifts of solitude and a chance to get to know yourself all over again. I'm not saying it will be easy but keep an open mind about it.

regojess - I love your up and down weight loss saga! Sorry for all the reading you have to do....

Bohemian - congrats on your weight loss also!

Walkingqueen - fingers crossed your bid on your house is accepted!

Celtic - I think you have the most fun weekends of us all!

Maddelen - this is the right attitude ! Slow and steady and keep tracking so you understand what you are eating and gradually cut back so you are in control of your daily calories. Watch your water and then add exercise, but do not eat all your exercise-earned calories. You'll do well, I know you will.

@Raven he knows he's doing these things. I know he isn't doing it to upset me and I have told him before how I felt about it. I just don't fell like reiterating myself every time something like that happens.
@ Vinson - I found a very exaggerated, loud, and ugly version of the sigh/face/remark they make usually makes them stop after a few times. Of course that might be one of the reasons I'm divorced.

@Aug - That night light idea sounds fantastic! I wish I was handy enough to be able to fix my car/ create things like that.

    @noni Myers & Pomegranate - Welcome!

@Nicheven - I have the same problem. Some weeks it'll pop up 4 or even 5 lbs and I KNOW I'm doing what I should. I have to ride it out and it eventually comes off (plus more).

@cathesh - great job this week and I don't think I could have stuck with JUST 3 slices of fresh homemade banana bread :/ at least not yet.

@Lizmil - Do you suffer from hypoglycemia? Do you get the faintness often?

@naceto - I used to get that way after binging, so perhaps it is the sugar? I hope you perk up and feel better very soon.

@Susan - great idea checking out the menu beforehand. Chilean Sea Bass, YUM!

@Laurie - HOpe all goes well today with that trainer!

@Vickie - Have you looked at any old pictures? I felt the same way and was complaining to my mother about it. She immediately mailed me some photographs of myself and WOW...... seeing the difference between then and now is HUGE. She sent two of my wedding when I was my heaviest @ 326 (94 lbs ago) and yeah..... scary stuff. YOU might not notice the little changes but they are there!

    @Monachris - 40 minutes!! That's fantastic!

@Janak - hope you and all your loved ones are safe and sound!

@KarenLeona - I can imagine how stressful. Robin is right though, try to look at it as an opportunity. After my divorce was the first time I ever lived alone. I went out and got myself a cat and I LOVE living alone now. It's MY home. See that TV remote? I put it there and guess what...IT"S STILL THERE!. 'Cause no one moved it or LOST it!!
Brothers- can't live with 'em and can't kill 'em lol!
There were plenty of times growing up I would have been happy with either option.

@bohemian - grats on the jump foward!

@Maddalen - I've been tracking for 6 months now (only 2 on MFP) and I still don't trust myself to 'wing it'. My ideas of portion sizes, macros, and just everything is too skewed from years of bad eating. It takes time to build good strong healthy habits, imo.

@walking queen - gratz on the new home!!

Tuesday Goals; Keep under my calories this week, to keep moving and to learn to MOVE ON. That's a big one for me. I find something/someone and hold on SO tightly. I can't do that. I don't need anything/anyone but me. Time to move on and live for me and stop waiting for things that aren't coming.

Happy Tuesday all, it is a beautiful day but will be a hot one. Got my morning walk with Belle in and am ready to do my Bible study. Today I noticed that I didn't have as hard a time going up the big hill, sometimes I have to stop and catch my breath. Also the pain isn't as bad since rain is gone and humidity is down. I praise God for the days that I can get up and down easier and without as much pain. I have already forgotten who all I was going to respond to, some how losing weight hasn't improved the memory! I did want to congratulate all those who have had successful scale and non-scale victories. I am clearing out all my size 4XLs and donating them this week. Am getting ready to order a Tshirt for the Down Syndrome Walk in October and am ordering a 2XL as I know I will be able to fit in it by then. Thank you all for being here, you make a difference in my journey!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

    Congrats on getting the house!

My Tuesday Goal: To keep drinking my 8 glasses of water. The couple days I didn't drink enough I felt sluggish and dried out. The scale also seemed to reflect the water, after drinking properly again the scale is back to where it was. My learned thing today.. DRINK MORE WATER!

Also I have a NSV I wanted to share - I found a recipe on Skinny Taste for low cal ranch, that my husband said was better than hidden valley! 55 Cals for 1/4 cup, and its soooo yummy. Happy the hubster likes it because he can be VERY picky.

Oops, forgot my Tuesday goals: keep walking 2X a day for total of 60 minutes a day and eat under calories everyday. I was thinking a neat September goal would be to try something we were afraid to try before we started on our journeys, just a thought.

Hello all, many great post as usual. Thanks. I have been just bumbling along and have said that for many weeks. I just can't seem to get with it. The good thing is I am not gaining. I always seem too tired or too busy to eat right or exercise.
Anyway I am taking a 2 day mini vacation at a casino. I am going to sleep in and watch a bunch of TV. Swim and eat. I am sure I will be eating bad but just once a day. lol.
So glad you all are here to keep me thinking positive and one day I might start listening.

Today is the first day that I am feeling closer to my normal self. I think my recent round of CVFS is finally disappearing. I am actually starting to feel really motivated to go work out, just wish I didn't have to wait til after 5 to do so. I think I can actually make goals that I can keep up with. Start slow and build up.

    Tuesday goals...
1)Watch sodium intake. My dad keeps telling me not to worry about it that it isn't a big deal but I would like to watch it. And not be too hard on myself when I go over just make up for it with extra water the next day.
2)Work out at least 4X a week. Even if it is just a little walk around the block. If it were cooler I'd take one or both my dogs even though one isn't super great on a leash.
3)Get more protein. I find on days I don't get enough protein I am tired and constantly hungry. I might buy some protein powder for my morning smoothies.
4)Get my mother and bf moving whenever I can. My mom needs it more than my bf but he could use it too.

    Have a great Tuesday!

    ~Lana
