AimeeMarie - you are so sweet - thanks for your kind offer - I have no idea how many miles short I am - Duh!

KarenLeona - wow - its amazing how much progress you've made - I am continually impressed by you. You really are the standard, and don't deny it because you get frustrated with yourself, because you are truly consistant. Heck, you keep coming back here for more abuse - isn't that consistant?

I got my walking/running shoes today. I ended up buying Asics Gel Preleus in a size larger (11) than I've ever worn before and golley they are way more comfy than my old shoes. I'be been walking around my home in them all nite and its so nice! Never heard of the style until I got into the store, but the fit sold me. Very airy tops which will be great here in the Nebr. heat and humidity this summer. Winter its heavy socks and boots and leather shoes if ts nice enough to walk.

Well, like the last many posters, I'm tired too and headed for bed. Nitey nite!

Oh, Queen, so glad your enjoying your HOUR walk with your puppy - wow thats long!

Had my eldest cello concert last night and the volunteer appreciation breakfast this morning at the school. I'm so sleep deprived, I'm getting a little loopy! Have a great night everyone!!!

    Hey Y’all!
I’m determined to get caught up and get all my personals in tonight while I wait for Hubby to come home from work so be warned… This one’s gonna be a doozy!

First and foremost, everyone has been doing an Ahh-Mazing job on their mileage! You guys Rock the Casbah!
To the New People of the Thread: WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME! (Insert fanfare here) If you haven’t figured it out already, you have stumbled upon one of the brightest gems on the MFP community boards! You will find not only help and encouragement here, you might also find yourself a part of this huge crazy family that has been cultivated thanks to our lovely RobinsEgg! Pull up a comfy chair, stay a while, jump in when you can, and enjoy the ride while we all navigate this bumpy road together.

And on to the rest of ya! LOL!
@ KarenLeona – You Go Girl! You are Killing it on the bike! Enjoy your trip to see your son!

@ Tom – I think I gained a pound just looking at the food pics! Whew! Makes me want to come out to Vegas just so you can take us to all the good eating places! I am also upset by not being told ahead of time about World Whiskey Day… It’s on my calendar for next year though! Hubby wants to go to a whiskey bar called Dram for his birthday on Saturday. I have a feeling that at least one of us will make up for missing WWD this year. LOL!

@ Hansea – I love the idea of walking 5k as a family! I bet that it would be fun to do something like the Color Run with your kiddos! Sounds like they are enjoying mommy getting healthy!

@ JNettie – Girl! You’ve got to stay on your feet! Hope that the skinned leg is feeling better! The Quinoa pilaf sounds really yummy. I’m going to have to try that one too! Wow! It looks like your summer might be pretty busy after all work wise! Woot! Ohmygosh your floors are Beautiful!

@ Queen – Welcome Back! We all stumble (some of us literally!) and it takes courage to get up, wipe yourself off and start again. You Can Do This! And we’ve got your back girl!

@Robin B – The Zoo 5k sounded Awesome! Congrats on your time! I love the zoo, but the humid summer heat just makes it miserable. Thankfully our little zoo here has a small splash pad for cooling off. I’m confused, What are DOM’s? I feel like such an exercise dummy sometimes, but I’m trying to learn!

@ Ushki – Ooh! Bouncy Castles and Birthdays! Fun! Did you sneak in a little jump time for yourself? I sure would have tried! LOL! Bless your little Zucchinis! I’m still pulling for your garden! I never did get my okra seed to come up so I’m going to try my hand at some lettuce and micro greens in the spots I was going to have the okra. I have several tiny cherry tomatoes on the vines and can’t wait to pick that first one! I was really late in getting baskets around them and finally got that done today. The poor plants had already started falling over. Oops!

@ MowMow – I’m so sorry that it didn’t work out with the doggy! Don’t give up if you want a pup. One will be a good fit and when it’s right, it will be Awesome! Good Luck!

@ Humble – It’s so nice to see you back! Hop on up here, you can sit by me on the wagon! LOL!

@ Rain – YAY for finishing finals! I hope you’ve been enjoying your rest time before work starts for the summer.

@ Susan – Glad to see you back! I love the poem you shared. The food show sounds amazing!

@ Tanya – What the What!?! You are SO CLOSE to Onederland! Woot!

@ LittleShadow – Bless your sweet heart! I’m so sorry that things have been so crazy at home with the boys! I hope that they have begun to settle down a bit for you. What are we gonna do with that bad ankle of yours? That thing needs to straighten up and fly right for sure.

@ Robin – Bless your heart honey. Your health, then your friend, and now your family… I swear, I wish I could just come out there and bring you home with me! I just don’t understand family sometimes. Hubby’s family is oddly disconnected too .They love and care about each other, but just don’t visit each other often and when they do, an hour or so and they are ready to go. It’s weird to me and took me a long time to get used to.

@ Lin – Nice to see that you are still following along with us! I hope all is well with you!

@ Naceto – Glad to see you too! LOL about the Massage therapist noticing how toned you are getting! Way To GO!

@Kah – Poor thumb! I hope that the splint helps and that the MRI comes out clean! I’m terrible at “phoning” with my thumbs, swype is definitely my friend!

@ TLH – Thank Goodness you got the house! WOOT!

@ KJeffries – Welcome back from your cruise! It sounded so awesomely beautiful! Might have to put an Alaskan cruise on my bucket list!

AFM – I have Finally broken the 50# lost mark! I’ve been scared of this mark since I started since I’ve never quite gotten past it before with my weight loss. Thank goodness this time I’ve got all of you to help keep me motivated, and more support and drive than ever before to get this weight off! I’m not looking forward to my next goal of 250# which isn’t very far away, but it’s my next nemesis to slay. I also had a cool NSV today. While at Wal Mart I decided to try on some new capri’s to see what my “real” size is (I’ve been only shopping for pants out of my closet so far). I tried on a size 26 and it was really loose around the waist. I bit the bullet and tried on a size 24 and they fit albeit a smidge on the snug side. I didn’t buy any, but I have actually reached a size that I can get just about anywhere! Happy Dance!!! Hubby’s birthday is tomorrow and he is planning on us doing it up right. I may not log food since I know it will be way over. On the other hand, maybe I will log it just to have it on record!

Rest Well My Lovelies for Tomorrow We Battle!

Damensha, congrats on hitting the 50# mark! I am stalled at 42 at the moment and so frustrated. 50# is a LOT of weight and you should be very proud. :) As for my boys, we are headed back to their specialist in the next couple of weeks. Can't remember if I mentioned this, maybe awhile ago, but my eldest has high functioning autism and adhd, and my youngest has adhd-impulsive type, so there's never a dull moment in this house. I'm still out of commission with this ankle, although stubbornly still doing walk away the pounds videos to try to stay active... it's not *quite* as bad as walking outside on the uneven ground/sidewalks. My physiotherapist is also at a loss as to how to fix it, it's been a long old haul. It does look like I'm going to have most of the summer off, which should help some.

@RobinB That was the Color Run 5K. I've done about 3 of the color runs and then 1 regular timed 5K. I need to get back in to running, but it's so HOT here in Florida! And although I have no issues working out in the gym, I really really hate the treadmill and it hates me too! Once I'm back in school for Summer B I'll have access to the indoor track at the college.

@PaintedCalvary - I am in Florida too, Broward County. Where are you? A group of us did the Color Run in Ft Lauderdale a few weeks ago. I can so relate to the heat! Ugh! I think it's the reason why I have been in such a fitness funk lately!

I'm up in Jacksonville. So way way up there! The last color 5K I actually did by myself. I was so proud that I still talked myself in to going even though I didn't know anyone there. It was much harder running alone, but I did it!

And yes, this heat is getting to be unbearable. I spent 3 hours last night moving dirt with the backhoe, shoveling dirt, and compacting it to be ready for the concrete today. Even though it was evening time and not sunny it still had me sweating in less than 5 minutes. That and the yellow flies. UGH!

Now that it's Friday, this weekend I am going to be super busy working on the barn so I don't think I have to worry about working out, but as for eating... By the time we get done working outside all day the LAST thing we want to do is cook. So I'm assuming we'll be eating out for dinner and eating sandwiches for lunch.

Oh and I resisted donuts all day yesterday that our CAT rep brought in. And blew it this morning when there was only one left. It had to be my favorite one. But before I'd usually eat 2, so bonus right? Weigh-in this morning has me at the same as last week, which is good because I've actually lost 4lbs since Monday after the unexpected weight gain.

Truth - I lack internal motivation to get me to the gym or doing anything. I rely on outside motivation from others which is also lacking at the moment.

I am so with you on this...at the moment. I had a work out partner and we worked out EVERY morning together, my schedule changed, her schedule changed and I am just out of sorts now. SHE was my motivation and the one that pushed me past my "not wanting to move". It has a made a difference in my life for sure. Now with having said that, we have no one to blaime but ourselves if we "choose" not to work out, but it sure is nice to have some one pushing....SOOOO....I will get my goal of 7,000 steps in today if you set one goal for yourself and reach it as well :flowerforyou: We can do this!!!!

@Holly~Its great that you’re getting in a one-hour walk with your puppy every night, I’m sure he appreciates it too.

@Jenn~Congrats on hitting your 50# milestone, amazing achievement! Keep rockin’ it.

@Heidi~I’m sorry you and your ankle been benched from walking outside, I can certainly relate to the frustration.

@Tom~ it! I love Irish whiskey too, but tend to keep Jim Beam bourbon/whiskey around (Jacob’s Ghost).

AFM~I’m with everyone else, for a short week it sure seemed long—I’m tired from the week, so glad its Friday. I hope to make it to the gym for some cardio today, may go to my trainer’s studio for cardio on his incline trainer tomorrow—if not, the gym definitely. Yesterday, we were able to buy our plane tix to LaGuardia for the cruise for under $300—a steal. I’m looking at tix for CO in August and they are high—how I wish Southwest Airlines flew into the airport near my sister. :grumble:

I have no way of tracking mileage at the moment (I will get a FitBit soon!)...

But I did want to jump in and say I hit my first 10 pounds lost and I am pretty excited about it! Makes me feel like I can keep doing this thing. :)

I'm resisting the urge to kick myself for not logging anything yesterday. I didn't even log in to MFP at all, either. I lost my 150 day logging streak. But, that just gives me a new goal. I will log and log and log until I hit 150 days again...and surpass that!

So, a day late on my Thursday Truth....I had time to log yesterday, but was feeling the laziest I've felt in a looong time. I did nothing for almost 3 hours yesterday afternoon, sleeping for much of the time. Maybe I'm sleep deprived....I haven't been getting my zzz's like I planned to this month in my goals. Trying again in June, I guess.

I was supposed to run yesterday, but....see above....I was lazy. Debating about running tonight....at least a little bit to kind of make up for it. I usually do my long run on Saturday mornings, so I don't want to kill myself tonight since I'll be pushing hard tomorrow.

I did make some time and put some energy into making German chocolate cake mix cookies yesterday, though. Geez...what an unhealthy day. At least I didn't take up smoking or drive recklessly yesterday....I did make SOME healthy choices! LOL!

Holiday weeks are crazy. I think at least two of you mentioned that this week feels unusually long. I feel it, too. On top of that, I have to work this weekend, so my "work week" won't be over until my next day off...6/5. Sigh.

Congratulations to those with losses this week....FeraFilia- Your first 10! Keep it up! and Jenn- 50 lbs!! That's freaking fantastic!

Robin- Enjoy your new shoes! I'm glad you were able to get fitted in a pair that feels so good.

Maybe I'll be back later to add some more to my May miles!

    Mileage

    5/30: 6.1 miles

    Total: 155.7

I'm going to do something a bit different for my June mileage goal. (I'm going back to concentrating more on strength training and a bit less cardio next month... 150 miles this month and the scale and tape measure have hardly moved). I'm going to make a mileage goal for running only. I'm going to start with 25 min runs 3 times per week and gradually lengthen my time as my legs and hips let me progress. With a week of holidays I may only run once during that time. So I will make a goal to RUN 25 MILES in June.

I did it. I went for a short run after work....and was "attacked" by a tiny pack of dogs. So cute and so excited to see me trot through their neighborhood! The owner was a little worried that they were scaring me, but I was just worried I was going to stomp on someone's tiny paws!
And it was hot....hopefully tomorrow morning when I go for my long run it will be cooler and easier.

    5/29: Rest Day
    5/30: 1.97 miles completed!

Congratulations to all of us. The mileage is impressive.
Friday fitness-I am enjoying water aerobics much more than I thought I would, and I feel good about mixing my exercise up a bit.
Today I went over to my friend's place to help her get started with MFP. Her sister, also a friend, joined us. It was really fun, and I think they will go with it now. I will continue to encourage them all I can.
My mileage for today, (combined water aerobics and walking) 5.6 miles.
Enjoy your weekend. Onward and downward. Kaye

    Hi guys! :flowerforyou:

@laurie--thanks for the mileage update--I can confidently say that I won't reach my goal. I will do 3 miles tomorrow morning running my 5k and perhaps 2 more walking gunner when I get home; then I will start fresh for June. I think I will stick with the same goal of 80 miles. I thought about increasing since I'll be off of school after 6/12, but then I realized I will lose a week at the end of the month when I leave for vacation on 6/24. So essentially my goal is 80 miles in 23 days.

@jenn--congrats on reaching 50 lbs lost!! That's amazing and congrats on the clothing NSV!:drinker: :drinker:

@tom--whiskey and I are NOT friends! Is there a World Rum Day? Oh wait, I think that's everyday for me.

@hansea--yes if on;y I had finished those last 5 days...

@fera--woohoo to 10 lbs lost! :flowerforyou:

I'm super tired, but I will check in tomorrow after my 5k and let you all know how it went.

    Grading Goals:
    1.45/52 Junior research papers

    Exercise goals:
Mon--walk gunner DONE + yard work DONE
Tues--walk gunner NOT DONE (rain) + gym NOT DONE
    Wed--walk gunner RAN OUTSIDE INSTEAD
Thurs--walk gunner DONE + gym NOT DONE
    Fri--rest day WALKED GUNNER
    Sat--Animal House Shelter 5k
    Sun--walk gunner + gym

    Goal Mileage: 80 Miles

    5/26 = 3 miles
    5/27 = 0 miles
    5/28 = 3 miles
    5/29= 2 miles
    5/30= 2 miles
    5/31= miles

Good morning MFPers. Happy World No Tobacco Day! :drinker:

Karen- National Rum Day is celebrated on August 16th annually. I think they made it in the summer so teachers could have a great time and not have a school day the next day. National Rum Day is not to be confused with National Hot Buttered Rum Day which is January 17.

Hi everyone, although I am not new to MFP, I am new to this topic, and am DEFINITELY new to posting ! This is my second reply ever. I haven't read through everyone's stuff just yet, but I will. What I have seen so far is exactly what I need, in this thread. You all are an inspiration to me. If you can do it, I can do it. God Bless you all for your support, your helpful hints, and for not letting me feel so alone. And I thank God for the continued success that I know we will all share !

stm1961- Welcome to the thread! :flowerforyou:

Tom- I am SO celebrating National Rum Day in August. 8/16 happens to be my dad's and my grandma's birthdays! Also, ironically, I'm working the urgent care this morning and a young, 8-month pregnant, current smoker has come in to be treated for dog bites....hope someone told her it was No Tobacco Day!
    Congrats on your 85 miles!

Skinnyjeanz- Good luck with your 5K! I know you'll definitely hit 80 miles next month. :drinker:

Kaye- Glad you've encouraged your friends to start MFP. I hope it works for them, too! Also, congrats on your super mileage this month...I think we all did a good job pushing each other towards our goals.

Laurie- Thanks for the mileage update. Wow! We have some awesome movers on this thread! I'm looking forward to figuring out my goal for June tonight.

To add to my May mileage:
    5/31- 6.73 miles completed!

I went for my long run this morning, and it ended up being about 3/4 of a mile longer than I thought it was going to be...new route, and mapmyrun wanted me to take the road where I decided to take a still-under-development trail...lots of zig-zags which helped add to my mileage. Anyway, it was the longest run I've ever done, AND I even picked up my pace for the second half. I finished 8.5 minutes sooner than I would have at my usual pace! Woo hoo! How's that for a Saturday NSV?
