Do you think I will have loose skin? :( I've got like 80 to lose. I was going to try the carb cycling but I don't want to lose it so fast I'm a pile of skin!!!

I did core workouts during the process to try to help with the skin. Also there are many fruits and veggies that you can eat that will help with the skins elasticity!
  • Amazing. Congratulations on your weight loss!

Ignore the negative comments! You look great and you worked hard to get there, and it's ridiculous that you should have to defend yourself against negativity.
  • Absolutely inspirational. It's almost too good to be true. You have shown a lot of people that it can be done, including myself. Fantastic!!!

Great job, 1400 after cardio is respectable (although I know some will disagree). I lost about 40 pounds in the same time period so your dedication is really great.

If you're gonna have it, you're gonna have it. That lose it slow and steady stuff and you won't have excess skin broohaha is for the birds................... I say congrats to the OP.
And you will need surgery to repair your skin for losing around 6 lbs a week (avg.) Losing weight that fast can have negative effects on our skin. Part of the point of losing weight is so you'll feel you look better. How are you going to feel if you lose 100 lbs in 4 mos and have tons of skin or continue and lose 200 in 8 mos. This is not something to be impatient with. Our body's and mind's need to learn this lifestyle so we can keep the weight off.

Too funny that instead of congrats and way to keep up the hard work.. someone finds the negatives!! GO FIGURE!

I'm not trying to be mean or negative. I'm saying that in most cases people can't do that. I don't think I've ever heard of that. And yes, he did it right as far as dieting and exercising, I suppose. But, there are reasons they say to only lose 1-2 lbs a week. I think that promoting that kind of very fast weight loss is going to give people false hopes. I also believe that even people who don't have that much to lose. Like myself I've had a child and I have stretchmarks and if I tried to do that I'd have a ton of skin. I'm being very careful so I don't. So, if someone like me tried to do that I want them to be aware that excess skin is more than likely going to be an issue. And that's something I wouldn't want I'd rather wait it out and see if I still get skin. I commend him for all of his VERY HARD work and his self-control and discipline. I didn't mean to come across that way. I believe that people should know that there are going to be consequences. All he was pointing out were the positives. And I'd say yes, the positives outweigh the negatives. I just hope everyone is aware. That's all.

It really isn't going to matter. If you're going to have it, you will. It has a lot to do with how long you've been overweight and to what extent you were overweight. Genetics, etc. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with how fast or slow you lose it. Yes, if you are planning plastics, you should wait a year or so after getting to goal to see how your skin shakes out, but it's going to be what it's going to be. I can't believe how much stupidity still abounds.

BS - Post some scientific studies that prove this - not hearsay. No fruit or veggie is going to help with skin.

On one hand, major props! You lost A LOT of weight and in most ways are probably much healthier. But I also concur with those who feel it was too much too fast. Granted, depending on your original weight and HOW you lost those pounds, there's a chance this was a somewhat reasonable goal and long-term accomplishment. But for most people 1-2 lbs. a week is not only the best bet in the short term, it's also the best way to keep the weight off for a lifetime. As for saggy skin, if you were strength training while losing the weight, that should not be of great concern - and if you keep at it, it'll be pretty much zero concern ... And again, congrats on the weight loss. May you keep it off by having adopted a super healthy lifelong nutritional and fitness program that led to it!

  • Edwin,
What can I say? Your story is truly inspiring. I was feeling bad because I stopped exercising two months ago and gained back 7 of the 23 I'd lost. Oh but now, since I've read your blog I feel so inspired to get back on track. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

That doesnt look like a lot of calories in that one day where you have oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, sandwich and chips for lunch and salmon dinner.. Do you eat any other snacks throughout the day?

Seriously. It's so frustrating that even in such a well-built, supportive community like this, there are still people who feel the need to make negative remarks about others success. Good job on the weight loss!!!
