Aww, your belly is smiling! HOW CUTE!
U shape, yay! I can see my toes again when I shower, so I can understand how happy you must feel.
I didn't think of it that way  Thanks for the support.
Happy Birthday to your little one Stacey! I know what you mean about them growing up too fast. My youngest just turned one, and I cried. I don't have any "babies" anymore, she's officially a toddler now. And she's my last... no more babies in the family. All my sis and bro are done having kids too. Oh well, maybe a niece or nephew will have one soon and I can be a great-aunt. Or I could get back into babysitting... IDK. Better just enjoy what I have.0 -
okay, I think today is my cheat day. we are heading to a friends house tonight for coney's. I didn't want the waffle my dh made but had a few bites anyway and can't figure out how to enter it in my food diary, so I had my oatmeal instead HAHA You guys do full blown cheat days and not count a single thing knowing your going to go over?
I've never scheduled my cheat day HAHA i've always gone way over on accident and then said "well I guess today was a cheat day" ROFL
Any ideas on my scheduled cheat day? Do I just not care and eat anything I want, do I still eat in moderation? I figured I know i'm having coney's and I don't know how many calories those are (alaska girl here, i've never had one?) I read a few things about cheat days and how it shocks your system and helps you lose more weight but no one ever says really what they do LOL
I know, I think i'm over doing the OCD part of this HAHA just can't help myself, i've gotten a little OCD about what I eat and making sure if I put anything in my mouth I put it in my food diary.
*you can start laughing now* This is sounding a bit silly myself, usually i just eat a bunch of cookies, or have a few drinks or something and say it's a cheat day this just seems so much different0 -

whew! shera, i think it's normal to be ocd abt tracking all this when you're starting out. i know i broke out in a sweat one time after eating at the buffet--like, omgoodness, what did i just do? i'm gonna wreck it all! achhhh!!!
now, i'm more relaxed about it--annoyed for sure but not panicked.
on the flip side, you don't want to get too careless b/c then you will see the #s creep up. it's just so easy to pack it back on.
as to what to do for your cheat day--i'd drink lots of water in the day. try to get in some fruit too. if you're worried abt overindulging in quantity, then eat something before to help you feel full. or pick the one thing you want to splurge on and skip the other goodies. or eat a little of everything and not too much of anything.
i would skip the alcohol--those cals add up quickly and don't jump start your metabolism.
personally, i don't think a cheat day does that anyway. there are knowledgeable people on the site who can tell you abt calorie shifting but that's a diff concept.
ok, then. class dismissed! have a wonderful time being with friends--that's what matters most! :drinker:0 -

I plan my cheat days for every saturday usually. I actually log most of it too! I am anal retentative that way!:blushing: I actaully eat mostly like I usually do through out the day until the evening, then I let loose! I try not to go over too bad, but it usually happens that I am over.:ohwell:
BTW....what is a coney? Is it a coney island hot dog? Aren't they in New York?0 -
Coneys? Do you have a Coney's Frozen Custard & Burger shop near you? It is SO good! They have a different flavor every day by us.
Sunday is my cheat day. I still track my calories, and try to stay under, but if I want a nap instead of a workout, I take one!
Today I am feeling accomplished and motivated. For months, Grace's old clothes and laundry had been piling up on my dresser, because it was next to the changing table, and, let's face, really convenient to throw it there! So I finally got my act together, threw it all in her empty hamper, and did *gasp* LAUNDRY!
I also got the laundry basket that had been full of more of her stuff and threw that in the wash, too. So here I am, 2 loads into my day, 2 ponies having their white markings started this morning, AND I'm going to run to the P.O. and "Tar-Shay" (Target). I plan on picking up some totes so I can pack up the clothes that no longer fit Grace.
YAY!0 -
Trish- I just moved to the west coast 6 months ago, so the only coney's I know is from the original coney isalnd hot dogs in NY!LOL:laugh: I will have to check them out though.
You are too funny about the laundry. I unfortunately have to do a load everyday with the 4 of us!
Off to chug some water!!!!!!!0 -
Hello all! Sounds like an up and down week for several. I know that mine has been that way. I like the idea of a 'cheat' day. I am scrapbooking with some mom's tonight so I know I will have a soda & snacks. I am trying to keep the carbs down today but so far that has been hard. I am going to walk for 30-45 minutes on my appt. with myself today. That will help. I also swept, mopped & wiped down all my cabinets this morning. That should count for something.
Week in Review
Monday--walked & got my water in--up late
Tuesday--some water but not enough--up late
Wednesday--CRAZY day but got some Christmas shopping done--bed on time
Thursday--walked but ate a high calorie dessert--daughter's 11th b-day, some water & bed on time
Friday--lots of water!, gonna walk & I know I will be up late.
I also have had only had one larger soda this week. I have been keeping the small bottles of pepsi in the frig & drinking 1/2 of one. That seems to satisfy my sweet cravings & doesn't shove the calories up over the top.
Hope everyone's weekend is great!
Kim0 -
I wasn't able to keep up with who said what, but I did read over the posts, so I know what's been going on since I signed off wednesday evening. I hope everyone is doing well today!0
-
kim--i like how you summed things up. i'm never good at that!
more water for me now0 -
You ladies are quiet today. I haven't really been drinking water today, but I've had a lot of tea!0
-
Tea counts!
What's for dinner?
We are having mojito lime chicken wraps. I just put the chicken in the dressing in a ziplock in the fridge (wow, that's a lot of "in the"s) to marinate. Yum, yum, can't wait to get my veggie fix!
Chicken, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, tons of lettuce. YUM!0 -
Okay I have to confess. Guess today turned into cheat day for me. I've bebn craving caramels for several days, don't know wny. Had my meals planned out perfect for the day, but spent 2 hours xmas shopping came home hungry. Had crackers and cheese and was gonna have an apple then saw caramel dip. proceeded to eat 2 servings of caramel dip...w/o apple! Now am sick sick sick. nauseous and migraine. Hurts to look at computer. Least now I know what triggers my migraines. Well, gonna drink some more water try to flush system and try to rest. hopefully kids will go to bed early. ttyl0

okay to answer your questions real quick before I head off to dinner, coney's are infact a hot dog (chilli dog i believe) the friends of our are also coast guard so they just transfered to cali in july like we did. She wantes to make us some homemade coney. She thinks I need more culture shock to add after moving from ak. to cali then I need to try a good ol' coney from new york LOL
I also wanted to say thanks for the advise, I should drink more water haevn't really had any today. I think I just worry to much and I just need to relax and enjoy our friends. I know I probably won't go overboard because I do know how very fast I can get out of control and gain a bunch of weight back. I think I mastered thanksgiving day so a day with hot dogs won't be a problem LOL0 -
Jr, hope you feel better.
Trish enjoy your dinner.
shera, enjoy your chili dog, I dont really like chili dogs, but most people say they are absolutely delicious.0 -
silver--i like your new ticker design.
jr--feel better. isn't it fun to keep learning the same lessons over and over?! (hugs)
shera--see, you're a smart chick!
kim--did you keep your appt with yourself?
NEED ADVICE
My 9y.o. lied to me earlier in the week but i only now found out. she said she took a self-directed reading quiz, but she didn't. she said she told me the lie b/c it was so important to me that she get it done. (yeah, blame the mother). and then she didn't take the quiz today cuz she cdn't find the book in the quiz system. idk if that's even true.
she has lied to us various times on important and non-important items.
my q---what to do as a consequence for lying?? what is logical? what is worthwhile? kim and nicolee--since your kids are older, i would espec apprec your input.
thanks!0 -
Oh Stacey! I feel for you with the lying! ((hug)) My son lied for years! He just started to not lie, but I still don't trust him, because he lied for so many years. It was so automatic for him that he literally lied about everything! We did sooooo many different things! I talked with him about being responsible for his own actions, had him be in his room with a journal and had him right why he lies and how he may go about changing that so he doesn't anymore. Everything worked for a little while, but then it would come back. I think what got him the most was disappointing me and his dad with his lying. On one of the many toccasions that he was in his room and had to write about it, he wrote a story called "the boy who lies and won't anymore" He did lie after that, but has made a conscious effort not to. I think he has alot of outside influences causing him to lie.
After that long-winded story, try talking with her about being responsible for her own actions, and lying gets you nowhere in life. It will come back to haunt you. Kyle looked at me alot of times like I had 2 heads, so I started writing in a journal and having him respond in it. It was just between the 2 of us. I found that he responded better that way. I hope that helps!:flowerforyou:
Shera! You go with the Coney island Hotdogs! That is funny! I am originally from PA, so I know all about them. BTW, where were you in Alaska? My friend and his wife are in the CG and they were on Kodiak. they are now in Baltimore.0 -
I still remember when I had a lying problem. I was about the same age as your 9yo, Stacey. I lied because I was afraid of the consequences of not having done something I was supposed to.
Once my Mom remarried when I was 11, my step dad laid down the law. He taught me that when we lie, we lose people's trust and respect. At 9, she is old enough to be held accountable for what she's done. She knows right from wrong. Confront her about the lies, tell her the consequences, and don't relent. If she says "I'm going to so and so's house to play", tell her No, that you don't believe her or trust her, and give her the worst chore you can think of (that's still doable for a 9yo).
Show her the consequences of her lies by not allowing her to do things, show her you don't trust what she's saying.
SHE'LL HATE IT!
I did. Worked for me. Hope I made sense.0 -
I am worried about Sharlotte getting older and lying..0

Trish said it much better than my rambling0 -
Trish, you answered that really well! That's a good idea!0
-
thanks! and the fudge filling in the cake was YUM
no for 2 more glasses of water! g'night ladies!0 -
thank you! i like the chores thing. and i like the "i don't trust you"
this time we will talk to her and get at that we were putting too much pressure on her re: school performance. she is a good student with special needs, and we pushed a little too far.
but...i'll still have her do the dusting of the house and vac her room tomorrow. (with no money for allowance for compl. those chores)
alright--off to play w/the original colorforms set with #2. fun stuff!0 -
I think Grace had the stomach flu... cuz I woke up at 2:30 this morning and ran to worship the porcelain god. I had really uncomfortable stomach cramps, too.
When I weighed in this morning, I was down to 233 from 235. I think it's cuz I was "BLEAH"-ing, lol.
Needless to say, I'll probably just be having a couple of ensures and some fruit today. Well, at least I'll be under in all the categories0 -
Trish, your getting so close to your first mini goal! 6 lbs to go! Great job!0
-
Thanks, Silver. You're almost 1/2 way to your goal! Keep it up0
-
gm girls! well today is the day i resume exercise. yay! i've had 2 weeks off so i'm starting with leslie sansone. on monday i will likely start p90x again on week 5 of my plan.

trish--i hope you feel better.
and silver--you are so close--excellent!
later chickadees!0 -
My stomach REALLY hurts... would I be a horrible mom if I took Grace & I into the bedroom, closed the door, curled up in bed, and turned the TV on for her? Andy has to work until at least noon, so I'm kind of helpless and alone here, and in PAIN. Grace is getting frustrated b/c Mommy can't do much for her.
There's not a whole lot in the bedroom that she can get into, except to unfold all the laundry, and throw clean diapers everywhere.0 -
Trish, hope you are feeling better! I'm hoping the flu doesn't hit this household!
Stacey, if I was actually working out I might be losing weight, but I haven't been working out. I've been tryin to watch what I eat, but the only exercise I get is... :blushing: well..ya know..0 -

most certainly not! (this from the mommy who was a regular napper while kids watch dvd/tv)
you can't be at 110% all the time! take care (hugs)0 -

Take a day off. Sometimes the kids love to just sit and watch TV with mom. I am so sorry you don't feel good. When we had the flu a month ago. We all camped downstairs and watched TV for 2 days. I got better really fast. Good luck--Sometimes it is just nice to give the kiddos a distraction so you can take care of yourself. Feel better soon!0
