Good morning everyone!
Yesterday was a cheat day--too much soda & goodies. Didn't go CRAZY but definitely went over my limits & I didn't log it. Just depresses me!
Today's goals--water & walking. Hubby is home & I have a TON to do. We have Christmas at his parents tomorrow & mine on Sunday. We have to finish gifts, wrap everything & make food to take.
I think we are done shopping for this kids so all I have left is to finish up with hubby's gifts. He's hard since his b-day is in mid-nov. Oh well it will work out.
What are you all doing when you go to celebrations & there is NOTHING healthy around? Need some ideas--HELP!
Busy in MO,
Kim0 -
Hi everyone. I have been running around so crazy busy, that I just realized I haven't been on here in a week. I've had migraines and stomach ulcer problems all week, too, so I was lucky to even log my food this week, but you'll see why with my crazy week. Lots of catching up to do. Well, weekly recap. Today my kids are sick, both have fevers of around 102. UGH! So we went to school to drop off teacher gifts and then making a run to the doctor in an hour. I'm taking my time to relax and catch up here until then
-Yesterday- I ate half a hamburger AND a slice of pie and managed to stay within my cals for the day, ok so I was over in fat and sodium, but I had 10 glasses of water. And I weighed myself yesterday and WOOHOO down another pound, so I'm not beating myself up. Did my measurements Mon. and down 1 in. in waist and 1 3/4 in in hips after not losing anything last week.
-Wed. I worked out in am, drank lots of water, went out to lunch from some old work friends and had half a burger, some southwest eggrolls, and Dr. Pepper, but didn't even touch the fries. Had a workout with the kids in the pm (mostly playing wii) and baked for over an hour (I'm making dessert samplers for teachers, friends, neighbors etc.-and I only ate one cookie and one slice of banana bread through all of that) so still balanced out in cals and sodium, but over in fat
-Tues. worked out in am, went Christmas shopping for 3 hours, wrapped gifts for 2 hours, finished touching up the paint job in my kitchen and decorating for the holidays, pm just put baby gate up in me DD's room and let DD and DS play around me while I lay exhausted in the middle of the floor
-Mon.-Did some Christmas shopping, got family pics done (i know so last minute, I get them back 2 days before Christmas), made Christmas cards and sent them out, went to a cookie exchange/Christmas party at church, limited myself to 2 cookies. Since I counted 3 in my Food Diary, I actually stayed under in EVERYTHING that day woohoo.
So, like most of you I'm pooped from doing everything this holiday season, and looking forward to the break I get when it's all over
Ok now to catch up Trish, I'm proud of you for sticking to your food plan despite the anny. I hope your tummy troubles abandon you soon. Oh, and I found long underwear on clearance at walmart.com you might check it out. Don't know if it can get there by xmas though. I know how you feel with DH working all the time, my DH is the same way, my son actually asked if Daddy moved away somewhere cuz he's gone b4 kids get up in am and home after they're asleep :ohwell:
Stacey-I hope that you are able to get the cookies out to everyone soon before they drive you bonkers. Great job getting back into your exercise. Sounds like you recovered quickly from the surgery.
Deb- I think challenging yourself to sit down during meals is a good idea, I have that problem too just munching on stuff in between trying to feed the kids. It makes you feel plumb sick! I hope things start going better with your daughter at school. How old are your kids? I think you said you're a brand new SAHM; my son had a hard time when I went from working mom to SAHM when my DD was born. I found saying goodbye at home then just quickly dropping him off at school made mornings better. And in afternoon I'd let DD play in her room and spend 5 min. having snack with him and sharing how our day went. When he heard how boring most of my days were he stopped feeling so left out and we don't have the separation issues anymore  (My DS is 6, and DD is 1 btw)
Kim- your recaps sound much like mine. My DH bday is Dec. 8 so I shop for bday and then scramble to get xmas too. I think your idea of recording how much sleep you get is good. Lack of sleep does cause you to gain weight. I think that will be a goal for me AFTER the new year. I have 4 separate Xmas dinners to attend starting Sat., and I am hosting 3, so been rushing like crazy to get my house clean and everything done. Hope everything goes well with the in laws and enjoy xmas with just your family
Silver-Great job maintaining weight without exercise, that takes alot of restraint. I find on days I don't workout I just want to pig out on junk so good job not doing that!
Nicolee-you are a very positive person not getting too down about your water situation. I am a little spoiled and go nuts without the "essentials" (running water, heat or a/c, etc.) Sorry you didn't get the pants done for the kids, I know how that goes. My sewing machine broke in the middle of sewing a dress for my DD. I then spent a month finishing it by hand! I must be crazy.
Sorry such a long post. Hope ya'll have a great day.0 -
Jr--Our kids are just about the same ages DD is 7 and DS 2 they just had their birthdays two weeks ago. Our separation anxiety problems started right after we had the flu in October. I kept DD home for 5 days of school and then she just didn't want to go back. We sat around and watched TV for most of that time so I think she liked it more than school. Today was a great day the psychologist said to give her choices in going to school and today she gave me a kiss and walked right in the door. She was even happy on the way to school. Things are better...for today anyway.
Today I am going to be spending cleaning house to see if I can find my keys I believe DS ran off with them, he thinks they are his tools for some reason.
I am not the one to ask about not giving in or what to do when there is nothing good around, I always give in. :noway: Here is a board where someone gave tips I saved it just so I would remember :flowerforyou: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/72787-holiday-tips Good luck on eating healthy for the holidays!0 -
kim--you be the one to bring the healthy. bring the fixings for a salad or a vege tray or low fat soup or fruit.
what about getting a meat/cheese tray from the grocery and bringing that? or shrimp and cocktail sauce?
just some ideas--hang in there--remember it's about being with family and friends--not stressing abt every morsel that goes in your mouth. :flowerforyou:0 -
a cool thread for when you have time to read

Just finished my work out. Burned 315 calories in 45 mins, doing rhythm boxing on my wii. This means I get to go nuts at Andy's company Christmas party tonight, provided I behave the rest of the day. I have 1,000 calories to eat, and 1,000 sodium to boot! Will avoid chips and salsa, and just go for the really yummy stuff. It's buffet style, so I think I'll put my tier scale that I used at the church party to work.
As soon as I chug my ensure, I'm going to go pick up my friend & we're going to get some work done in my studio. It's going to be a good day0 -
gm everyone! Happy Friday!!! I hope everyone is having a good day. I just got back from the grocery store, and I was lucky that I got out of there, because I was starting to get hungry! Never a good combination. I wanted to buy cookies and chips and salsa. I did break down and buy the chips!:ohwell: :laugh:0

By some miracle I made it to the gym today. I was not thinking I would make it, but did 45 min. on the elliptical.
Any of you in Northeastern states? If so, please be careful this weekend in the snow storms. I hope everyone is safe in the horrible weather, and that it's gone before Christmas so people can visit their families there.0 -
wtg on getting to the gym, Hopey!
So I think I did okay at the party last night. I had 1 plate of chips, lettuce, pico, chicken fajita fill, and a little cheese & sour cream. They had fresh salsa there, so I couldn't resist. I also had 2 plates of desserts, but they were very small-- truffles, and small cookie type stuff. I went back for 2nds on the real food, but 2 bites in my body screamed stop! I was really surprised. I listened though, and had our friends at the table put the food on the other side at an empty seat so the waiter would take it.
The theme was casino night, and everyone got a raffle ticket for some prizes they were going to raffle off, or you could trade the ticket for game chips. I traded mine in for blackjack. I won several hands, but ultimately ended up losing everything. I had fun though
Letting hubby sleep in this morning. I think he has the day off. Will go grocery shopping with him later, and see what else he feels up to.0 -
hi all! good for you trish! it sounds like you had a very successful night (except for the pretend blackjack ).
and wtg hopey--excellent that you got that workout into your day.
well, dh and girls off to utah. they'll be in park city for the week and the boy and i will be home. it was just easier this way. but it was weird to say goodbye to my girls for that long. never have before.
i will have lots to do this week while they're gone--CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN this house. children's museum, gymboree classes, library, park, polish nails??, nap, sew the rest of my quilt top?

just realized thomas' plain bagel large is 260cals and 400+ sodium. won't be having those anymore!0
-
Wow you ladies have been up to a lot! Great job on portion control and restraint!0
-
Tonight we had homemade pizza (YUM!) and as soon as we get the baby down, we are going to see Avatar in 3D. Hubby saw it in 2D yesterday with his work, and said it was AMAZING. He's peeing himself over it, and MUST see it in 3D. I just hope the movie theater has mint dibs. I love those things! I have enough calories for them, it will be a real treat. Can't wait
Keep up the good work, ladies.0 -
boohoo--it is so so so hard for me to stay in my cals. here i am almost a year later and back up to 139!!!
i know i've accomplished a lot, but it's still such a challenge. yesterday i didn't even bother to record my food cuz it was gonna be just too high--2000+
sorry to be singing the same old song.....
today i'm at 1800 and still no exercise. i napped instead. but...there's still time before bed. wish me luck--so i can get cals back to 1500.
need more water!!0 -
did my 4 mile walk!! yay me.
maybe i'll even vacuum a bit. that would be super ambitious! with dh and dd's not here, it's easier to do things at my schedule/rhythm.
have a good night! see you in the AM0 -
well ladies, I'm not sure how I did calorie wise today. but I'm sure it was over. I had pizza, wings, 2 smirnoff wine coolers, and a shot called chocolate cake. anyway.. I'm off to bed! See you ladies at some point tomorrow.0
-
gm everyone! After my run today...I think I'm gonna vegetate! I am just sooooo tired today! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!0
-

enjoy your day of rest.
boy and i are showered and will be off to the office supply store. i love that place!
we're planning on a short neighborhood walk too. he wanted one yesterday and it just didn't happen.
also, i lost another #. maybe it's just water, but seeing the # go down motivates me to do better with all my choices. kwim? it gives me hope again that i'm not stuck being the fat/lumpy mommy.
later--:flowerforyou:0 -
I am soooo tired today also--big Christmas yesterday. Did pretty well at the big dinner & with the sweets. A couple of treats but not as much as usual. Today we have another at supper time. My defenses(tiredness) so it will be harder.
Not sure I can walk this afternoon I am so tired. I am going to drink lots of water today & just look towards tomorrow & getting back on track. Thank goodness things calm down & I can go to bed before midnight!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

What is it with today? I'm am SO tired too! I had a hard time staying awake through church, could barely keep my eyes open. Can't decide if I want a nap or a workout first.0

Thats great you lost!! OH YEAH, I didnt check if I did yesterday. I know i've made some poor choices (pizza) and i've had chicken noodle soup all week so my sodium was WAY up there. I might check in a few days but so far i'm just trying to down the water as much as possible. I've honestly lost count on how many times ive filled up my water bottle.
I'm hoping to jump start myself, I have 4 weeks until my family get's together so I would love to be down 5lbs by then. Guess It all starts somewhere, here I go to get on my tredmil0 -
shera, you can do it! water and treadmill are a great combo!0
-

Every pound counts. And hey, a pound is a pound. Great job!!0 -
I had a family get together yesterday for lunch. I did pretty well, but didn't bother logging any of it. Especially the Espresso fudge cheesecake my sister made. I only ate 1/2 a 3/4inch slice, but i couldn't handle any more. I'm sure I'll be up a pound or 2 though. I didn't work out all weekend...ugh.0
-
So I'm not the usual inspiration today. Today I've ended up deciding I just don't care. CHOCOLATE MACCAROONS & EGG NOG FOR EVERYONE!!!0
