Hi.
I'm looking for people who plan to start the C25K running program in the new year. I've talked about starting for ages and made some half-hearted attempts at the treadmill. Time to get serious.
Anyone interested?

I'll join you!!! I started it a while back and made it to week 3. I haven't managed to make it to the gym in a few weeks now. I'm thinking of just starting over. I'm hoping that if I join a group I'll stick with it this time. I need someone to make me accountable!!!!0

I'm in the same boat...so I'm in too!
When are we starting?0 -
 I'll give it a shot. I just looked at the site and it appears to be doable for me (old leg injuries--and just a "bit" older than you!). I just started the 30 Day Shred and want something to do on the days in between.
I'll be doing my running inside, though, for now. I don't want to get too far from a surface I can collapse on!
When do we start?

Hey! I'm interested!
I've already downloaded the app for my iphone and plan on starting Jan 2nd, so count me in!0 -
I'm in! I've done a couple of trial days and I think it's totally doable (at least week 1  ). I've never run or jogged but love to walk... so let's give it a shot!! :flowerforyou:0

I'm in, too. I've started already but I took a week off around the holidays and had to move back to Week 3 when I started again yesterday. I just consider myself 3 weeks ahead of my own schedule because originally in September I had planned starting in January. You guys will catch up to me in no time, I'm sure because I've been struggling to get past week 4 for a couple weeks now.0

I'd like to do this as well. Have started it a couple different times, but never made it past week 3. I do a lot of the walk/jog intervals, so being able to complete a 5K would be a good goal. When are we starting?0

I'm in too! I've already downloaded it all and was going to make it my new years goal. I've never ran a day in my life, but soon will be a runner!0

Hey there Green Pepper! Glad to be sharing this with ya! We can do it and be in agony together!0 -
Did a trial run yesterday and think I can do this. I may find myself staying at the different weeks longer than it says but that's okay, too.
I've downloaded a podcast and now have to figure out how to get it on my new phone!
I do a lot of walking but haven't run in YEARS so I'm going to take it slow. I don't want to give up on this.

I'm in as well! I plan to start tomorrow (January 1st). If we all start within 2 or 3 days of eachother that should be good. Are we tracking measurements and weight? I plan to measure and weigh tomorrow...

Me, me, me!! I was planning on starting the C25k program next week, and I would be sooo happy to have a group of people to run with and be accountable to...
Long story short, I did a C25k-type program in 2003 and then ran in two 5 mile races that summer (=8k for the metric folks), so I can guarantee you that it works, if you stick to it!! I had never run before I started, and although I never did get excited about doing the actual workouts beforehand, I was always thrilled with my accomplishments afterward. But then, I got complacent after the wedding, and then there were a few pregnancies... lots of "excuses" not to run.
I'm done with the excuses, and ready to roll! Or should I say, ready to run?!0 -
I would love to join. I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I started before and than quit on like week 3.0

Let's be real... it's new years day and too much good football on to start. Saturday seems more realistic... even God took a day to rest! And I actually did my Shred video before going out last night! That counts for something right??

Finished another week 3 workout today. I'm stuck between week 3 and week 4. But I'm still getting better every time & tonight I was able to jog faster than usual and I didn't get as out of breath as usual so I know I'm improving, it just takes time.0 -

I am in! I started it back in Oct but didnt make it past week 1. My dh went hunting and then brought home a new puppy which I have been taking care of so my exercise went out the window. I want to run a 5k in March for St Patricks Day....either the Shamrock Run in Portland or the St Patty's Day Dash in Seattle. They are both in 11 weeks so a 9 week program would be great!
I downloaded an app on my iPhone that tells me when to run and when to walk, cool down, etc. It also keeps track of what week and day you are at. It is great. If you have an iPhone I highly suggest it!
Good luck!0 -
Just did week one, day one of the program and it wasn't as bad as I thought. The first four sets of the run/walk were great and I found myself looking forward to the next run while I was in the 90 second walk. Coming back was a little harder and I REALLY had to force myself to do the last 2 sets. The final 1 1/2 minute walk and then the cool down back to my house were more like a moderate walk because I was exhausted! But I am just glad I made it through day one!
Like Kathy, I plan to weigh once a week (on Saturday) and then measure at the first of each month.

I was planning on starting today or tomorrow... but I woke up yesterday with a nasty headcold... *sigh* :sick:0

I would love to join! I am planning on starting on Monday January 4th. I use the gym at work and I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday so I am going to try to do my running on those days and do some strength training on my days off from running. I tried a program similar this past summer and didn't make it past the first week, so my goal is just to finish!! I would like to run a 5k this fall sometime would be my second goal...and of course I would love to lose some weight as I go. I am starting over with eating within my calorie limit. I am ready for a change as we roll into 2010! I am also only going to only allow myself weigh ins on monday. I seem to get obsessed with the scale and weigh myself at least twice daily, which I think is hindering my weight loss as well since I get discouraged. So only once weekly and I think Mondays will be a good day to weigh in since it will make me behave over the weekend!! Good luck everyone!!0

Started today (ok, i agree, too much football and hangover to start Jan1, but I still have enough time to get in 3 workouts this week). Week 1 workout was not bad at all. I downloaded music from nicole, she counts down to zero when it's time to change from run/walk (http://gonicoleyourself.blogspot.com/2008/06/couch-to-5k-podcast-page.html Thanks to all for the tips!
Hang in there fellow newbies and good luck this week!0 -

I used her music as well, and it was great. I made my own mix of music, though the transition between the songs isn't pretty, so unless I get better on sound editing, I'll probably stick with premade mixes until I get to more continuous runs later on. Did day 1 of week 1 today. It was pretty painless overall, but I've also been working on pretty regulary for 2ish months now. If i'd started this right away, I would have been in serious pain (then again, I could be in pain tomorrow). Plan to do day 2 on Tues, and day 3 on Thurs with some more cardio thrown in other days.0
