Trish- i have never used an hrm, how do the numbers compare with the numbers in the exercise log on mfp?
i have been trying to log exercise there, but there are so many variables it is hard to know if it is accurate.

My report this past week was a whopping fine number, but it is hard to know if it is any where close to real.
i have heard folks saying the calorie burn numbers that the wii fit plus gives you are low (they are for sure next to the mfp numbers), but that doesn't mean they aren't more accurate.

Katie, I feel that the numbers MFP gives us when we plug in exercise are a good middle ground/compromise for what my HRM says. Compared to what the WF+ says and what my HRM says, MFP is right in the middle :)
  • I always think the numbers are to high but I plug them in anyways becuase I usually dont eat my extra calories! like running on the tredmill for 20 minutes say on MFP that I burn like 350 calories and my Treadmill says like 180 ? I am thinking about getting a heart rate monitor Any suggestions on a good/ cheap one??

Brandy, at our weight, it's pretty safe to say that we burn 100 cals every 10 mins spent running. I torch that many just running in place with my Wii.

okay- :blushing: so i am rather pleased with myself today. today is my 5 month anniversary. :flowerforyou: i started dieting on Aug. 27, and as my ticker is showing, i have lost a total of 73 lbs. :drinker: woohoo!!!

i also have been taking measurements once a month & i've lost 10 inches in my waist since i started. :noway:

so to celebrate, i went & worked my tail off in water aerobics this morning. lol. celebrations in the past usually involved a "treat", totally must kick that bad habit.

2 more weeks until my next dr. visit, can't wait (don't think i've ever felt that way about a visit to the doctor).

Have a great day everyone & make good choices. -katie

WTG, Katie! I understand about being excited about the doctor. I see my diabetes doc for a checkup on the 3rd. She'll be floored when she sees I've dropped 30 lbs since October, and ran a 5k!

    Great job Katie and ltlhmom!

I weighed this morning, 240.5....so up a couple of lbs from my lowest a few weeks ago. I've been up and down the same couple of lbs for two weeks.

I'm not doing really well lately, I've been struggling with anxiety and depression and my life has me so overwhelmed its hard to do what I know I should be doing. I'm not giving up though, I will keep trying to stay on track.

Hey girl, keep your head up. We are all here for you! Life can be overwhelming, but just think the one thing you can control is you... you can make time for yourself, to take care of yourself and that is the most important thing. One day at a time and we will all get to our goal.

weighed in today, stuck at 220 for the last few days. I blame AF. Will hopefully be 218 middle of next week, which is where I wanted to be today.
  • I weighed in at 226.5 this morning. Worked out almost everyday this week!

    Good luck everyone!
  • Did horrible last night, planned on making a nice Taco salad with ground turkey. Then the hubby says oh lets go to the casino, and there if you play for 2 hours you get a $20 comp. I wanted to eat at the restaurant but no he wanted the buffet. I have not gone over my calories since joining 30 days (today) so I figured I would have a cheat night. I ate over all my calories (1600) for the day in one sitting, and only had 750 left for the day. I totally regretted do it I felt stuffed and huge Uggggh.

I didnt want to get on the scale this morning but I am 295, second week under 300. So I can officially say it, out of the 300. That makes me feel good. I am also hoping since I had a lot of sodium last night that I am also having water weight plus its almost Mother Natures Time to visit.

I stole my moms dog for the weekend, so I get my big butt off the coach and take her for walks. Since I have no motivation to exercise. This is mine and my husbands weekend to have his son, so I am hoping to go to the Mariners Fan Fest (baseball) and do tons of walking there. Just hope I dont get tempted to eat there. I am going to bring the big purse for healthy snacks and buy water.

    Hi Everyone,

I missed last weeks weigh in, but this week I am 197.5 down 5 lbs. Unfortunately, I had the stomach flu yesterday so I'll probably gain it back in the next couple of days. My goal is to stay at this weight for next weeks weigh in.

    01/15/10--236 lbs

    Looking good everyone-

i will wait until later tomorrow to post the chart. hopefully we'll have heard from a couple of folks who didn't get posted today.
i will continue to clean up the list. amazingly, we have had more than 35 people stop by to chat & express an interest in joining us. (i guess cause we're so awesome!!)

obviously, they have not all been back. if we haven't heard from someone for a while (like 3 posts) i will be dropping them- unless they've given us a heads up (for instance: "hey, i'll be traveling the next couple of weeks, i'll check in when i get home"). if they do come back we can add them back in to the group anytime. but some folks don't continue with mfp, or get involved in other groups on other threads.

if this doesn't sound reasonable, make another suggestion.
And yes, i will be adding both goaliemom & pinkhocky, new this week.

keep going, i think we're winning -katie

  • Hello all!

I wanted to join this specific blog in the hopes like you all that I could lose the 100 lbs. I need to lose.

Here is a little about me:
My name is Jennifer. I am 34 years old and have a wonderful husband and two teenage kids, 14 and 18. My family just moved from the wonderful state of Alaska to Indiana. My husband was in the military and was medically retired and so we moved for work reasons. I miss my military family, but am glad that I am around my family now as well. I want to lose this weight for good, and want this to be the beginning of the rest of my life. This site in the past 6 days now has done more not just for my health but for me than I could have imagined. I hope I can join you all in trying to lose the big 100.

Thanks all! Have a good weekend! :flowerforyou:
  • I agree with you Jennifer! I have been on for 16 days now & I don't think I've ever been so motivated before. I KNOW this time is different for us! We miss you guys!

welcome Jennifer:smile: - we'd be glad to have you join us. We weigh in on Fridays (but you could go ahead and tell us what your starting weight is now.) as you can see, if you look back through the posts, i have been helping us keep track of how we are progressing by creating a weekly chart that shows how much we've lost.

i'd be glad to add you in next time, just stay in touch here. :flowerforyou: -katie
