personally i'd get the Samsung S3. Go to your local phone dealer and try out the display models, see which one you you like/can afford0

My wife is getting one. I know, helpful.0

I am getting the Samsung S3 :laugh:0

My opinion is that Apple is one helluva marketing company and folks are going to line up and fork over mega cash for the same phone they had last year.
Get an android and use it for three years like the rest of us not-rich people.0 -

I got an email tonight saying mine had shipped so I'm hoping it's gonna turn up on Friday. Will connect to to the Wahoo Blue HRM I've ordered. I'll let you know how it goes! 8-)0

To add to this - if you have an iPhone 4S ALL the software peeps are saying just do the upgrade on your phone and voila you have an iPhone 5!0 -

This is a clear example of my opinion: All the iPhone 5 is, is marketing hype. Just like all the iPhones before it.0 -
I want one.
Edit: BUT I have never owned an iPhone, and I'm eligible for an upgrade through AT&T, so I'm getting a discount.0 -
I personally like to step outside the box.. I don't like to follow the masses. There are a ton of good phones out there. I am not entirely impressed with the iphone... Snooorr0

I think the screen is supposed to be bigger but that's about it. I do like my iphone 4s - and those are going to be on the cheap now that the 5 has come out. If you want an iphone - I'd go later model.
However, my husband prefers his droid (HTC Inspire) - but my htc kept eating my pictures (like socks in a dryer) so that turned me off and I went back to apple. A lot of sites let you compare the features between different phone brands. I would def start there to get a feel for what you want in a phone then go from there.0 -
there are infact hardware and software differences in the I5
if you are not locked into apple then go for the galaxy3
I am kinda tied into apple because im grandfathered into the original unlimited data0 -
i ordered mine last week and cant wait to pick it up on friday!!!!!! It is going to blow the Samsung S3 and all the others out of the water! Lighter, Better Screen, Bigger screen, Better Battery, Better Camera, Better Ear Phones, whats not to like other than the new cord?0

If you need to save money and get a phone that has 99% of the features: Samsung Galaxy S2, with the S3 being out I'm pretty sure they are free or like $50. I have one and it's the best phone I've ever had.0

This is usually what happens, but it hasn't happened yet. I am sure that it will. If you already have an apple product I would just stick with one of the 4s. The prices on those 4s are probably crazy good right now. I never get any of the first generation iPhone. Let the second version come out and I'll get it once all the bugs are worked out.0 -
Mine is on order!! I can't wait!! I have been eligible for an ugrade for over a year now but have waited knowing that it would eventually come out.0

Ours our ordered and coming Friday. My hubby is a Apple junkie thou.0

S3. I hate Apple after they changes their plug in. I immediately went back to my Android after hearing that. Ridiculous.0

AT&T or Verizon?
I have AT&T and I was able to switch to a Galaxy S2 and keep my unlimited.0 -

I agree with this. The minute I read that they integrated the touch sensors into the actual screen (instead of it being two layers) I said "h*ll no". The 'spiderweb app' they are prone to getting would render your touch input useless. No thanks. I'll stick to my HTC and Samsung phones that have been indestructible for the last 2 years /knock on wood.0 -

Actually the S3 wins over the iP5's specs in nearly every category0 -
Same phone as the 4s, just a bigger screen..go for the Galaxy S3 aka "the iphone killer". Love mine0
-
I ordered it! I currently have the iPhone 4, not 4S, so it will be an upgrade to me! I LOVE my iphone. I HATE my husbands droid, he's switching to iPhone too. One of the reasons we ordered is because we want to change service providers anyways. I use it for working out, run c25k, runkeeper, and music all at the same time. I find that a droid is too crazy, too much stuff going on and nothing seems simple. The apple software is very simple and easy to learn.
I like to have different things than everyone else, but when something is done right why worry about being different? Plus everything is catered towards the iPhone, most apps are perfected for it first, accessories, etc. I've personally never seen an android speaker dock... I think it gives you the most versatility and you get more out of it other than it just being a phone.0 -
Mine was pre-ordered last week just a few minutes after midnight - A white 32GB one to replace my aging white 16GB 3GS!
I freely admit to belonging to the Cult of Mac and worshipping all things Apple0 -
there is nothing new in an iphone 5 that others don't have already (except for the micro sim, and a locked in eco system), and apple are very very good at marketing, save your cash and go for an android phone, not as hip or cool I suppose but it does the job well enough if you don't have money burning a hole in your pocket. I call it the iSheep! :laugh:0

If you don't want to spend too much money on a new smartphone, the Galaxy S2 is still available. I got one for cheap, because the S3 just came out. It does everything I want it to do without fuss.0
-
Depends on what you want. There are stronger, faster phones out there, but Apple phones are designed for less tech savvy users. More power, more technical.
Less power, more user friendly.0 -
I've got the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it's far superior to my wife's iPhone 4S, IMHO. And I'm not just saying that because I'm an Apple hater. My cell phone is just about my only electronic device that is not an Apple product. I believe their products are superior to the competition in most instances, but not when it comes to cell phones. I don't know what the upgrades are for the iPhone 5, but it would have to be light years ahead of the iPhone 4S for me to ever consider trading in my Galaxy S3.0
-
I've only EVER had droids. I currently have the Galaxy S2. When I do upgrade, I'll go with the newest Galaxy they have (won't be elegible for an upgrade till March, I think) when that time comes.
I personally have never had problems with any of my droids (aside from the MyTouch when they did the froyo upgrade, it bricked my phone). But EVERYONE I know who has an iPhone has had problems with it.0
