  • Glad to see a few cyclists here. So far, I have 253 miles on the roads of Cape Cod in October. The weather is still nice, so I'm hoping to ride right thru the winter.

I had challenged myself to cycle/spin 7 days this week but my heel started hurting again (stress fracture from running), so I took a day off. I still am happy with my mini-challenge and added 360 mins of spinning to my October challenge.

Gorgeous Day to ride Sunny and in the low 60's. I've been trying that endmondo and it is slightly off from my bike computer, It says it's linked to this account but I'm not seeing it...

My target is only 200, Think I'm going to go for 300. I think an Indian Summer next week so no excuses not to ride.

So I rode 11.69 today, mostly on the bike trails. Have to be careful back there. A tree fell on one of the bridges back where I ride. That would mess up your ride if it happened when you were on it/:

Hope everyone has/had some fantastic riding.

Yet another beautiful day. My bike computer says I rode 16.29. Endmondo is at 15.22 I couldn't really decipher a rhyme/reason for the difference between the two except that in the park there was more of a discrepency than riding in a straight line to and from the park.
    17.6 mxs and avs 11.5.

I fell in love with biking last spring and was consistent to be on my bike every morning. Now with the cold weather setting in and the dark mornings playing with me, I have had no ambition to get up and go. I was up to 110 miles in August, and now slacking. Thinking I might need to invest in a trainer. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Glad to find other cyclists on this site. I hope this is appropriate place to ask this question. so the other day i rode for (numbers might be sliglty off going from memory cant look right now) rode for hour and 13 minutes at 12-14 mph the exercise diary gave me like 950 calories. this seems extremely high. I like to eat back at least 1/2 of my earned exercise calories but i dont have a HR monitor. I am wondering in yalls opinion how accurate is the exercise diary in regards to calories earned. What I have been doing is taking what they say I earned and cutting it in half and then those are the calories i eat back. I dont know if that is right thing to do. I am curious what you all think the accuracy of exercise diary is????

I agree, it does seem high! I'm 6', 260lbs, and MFP says that I burn 700+ calories during my daily hour long bike ride, which is only 10 miles. Seems off to me, so in my head I generally calculate it as 50 calories per mile biked. I hope it's accurate enough

I use a Garmin cycle computer with a chest strap heart monitor and Mfp's numbers are very close to what that tells me, if you are only eating half the calories back then I would use those numbers. Try it for a few weeks and if you find that you are not losing then simply adjust the numbers down slightly until you do start losing  good luck

Thanks for your responses I am new to mfp, had good losses both weeks so far and hope to keep that up. Thanks gregsoevans that is exactly what I wanted to know was if hrm would show close to the same numbers as mfp :)
