Why do people.......

....Not have their food diary available for friends to see, the amount of knowledge on this site will be vast and by scrutinising your diary's people will be able to give you some great advice.

basically.....get your diarys out!

Because I am not here to get advice or feedback on my diary. Not everyone works the same way.

I don't have my diary available because people are judgmental!!!!
I remember once I sent a msg to this girl asking how she got such great abs. Anyway she added me as a friend and once she saw my diary she decided that my way of eating (I was consumed far less calories than her - she literally ate like 2000 a day and was like 100 pounds :S) was "unhealthy"... she couldn't be associated with someone who ate like me LOL - her words, not mine. It was weird and I was like... um I'm sticking to a 1200 calorie diet, that's normal for a 5 foot 3, 24 year old girl!
    So never again!

That is only a certain amount of people, others including myself would try and give you advice and help if you wanted it

Agreed but I understand at the same time. I know a couple of friends I've managed to convince to open their dairies because they got scrutinized for eating to much (still under 2000 calories). People have different ideas of what healthy is and there's some bad advice going around because of it if you ask me.

But if you have your dairy closed because you feel bad for eating that bag of chips, then open it. Because if you're feeling bad about it you don't want to be eating it and when people call you on it (nicely) it's great support...and if you're the person who eats chips or whatever and you're not planning to get rid of them then you shouldn't be ashamed of it.

I don't get why it even matters. There are plenty of members who do share their diaries. If you don't like it when people don't show their diaries, don't have them as MFP friends.

I don't understand why you find it important that everyone think just like you do. That's what makes the world go around! :flowerforyou:

Thats fair enough although i think since you have lost 60Lbs it would be massively beneficial to other people who are at the same weight as you started. It could help them.

There are lots of other people here. I don't feel comfortable talking to other people about what I eat nor do I want to talk to others about what they eat. That's pretty much the long and short of it. I find it to be a very private matter. I understand what you are saying and that's great if it works for you. But it doesn't work for me. I respect your decision to show your diary and interact. Why not respect the decision of others not to do so?

I think people here all think they're health experts lol. I find it amusing when people give me advice. If I stuck to the diet of course I would lose weight, I just haven't stuck to it :P

If you're struggling and asking for advice, it's best to have it open.

But otherwise, I can understand why someone wouldn't. It's none of my damn business what or how anyone else eats.

I do LIKE open diaries, because I like getting ideas. And some of my friends have diaries that read like food porn.

I totally agree however i think you can get a good idea of the people that do have an idea regarding nutrition by profile pictures etc. People should be smart enough to realise who is speaking sense

I didn't realize there was a setting for that. Just made mine public, thanks!
I'm hoping showing how I balance the good stuff with the indulgent stuff can help others. Like all week I've been planning to have a cheeseburger from Sonic (lol I know, but we don't have one anywhere near us so it's a treat and I NEVER eat fast food) so I made sure to plan accordingly and have excercise scheduled to compensate.

I totality appreciate that. I'm not hating on the people who don't show them, its just my opinion. I respect yours although i can't agree.

I agree with the opinion of open diaries. BUT there are some people who struggle with unhealthy choices and don't want people to think like "she eats it, she loses weight, that's healthy then"

Not a problem. You go and enjoy your cheeseburger! people need treats to keep them on the straight and narrow. I had a chinese last night!
