It's Fall here in upstate NY and that means APPLES!!

My favorites are Jazz (cross between Royal Gala and Braeburn) and Honey Crisp.

Are there major differences in calorie counts among apples?
- a quick search in the database and it looks like they're all pretty much the same (i looked at honey crisp, gala, fuji, breaburn and macintosh)

I love ALL apples... and it usually depends on my mood...

but Green Granny Smiths... I love the tartness... and Pink Lady's when I'm in a sweet mood (which is actually pretty rare)

Honey crisp rock! Oh, and the pie thing - as long as it is crumb...
  • Gala.. I like them slightly under ripe so they're extra crunchy with a touch of sourness

I'm obsessed with Pink Lady, and I just discovered Jazz Apples and those are pretty good as a 2nd place. Honeycrisp is popular, but it's way too sugary-sweet for me.

    Honey crisp!

Never had one before a few weeks ago. I bit into it and immediately thought this is the best apple I have ever eaten in my life!

They are expensive around here- $2.49 a pound today, vs. .99 for gala, red delicious, and the other more common varieties.

Honey Crisp - I still can't believe how an apple can be so sweet, juicy, and crunchy all at the same time!

A good ol' local macintosh plucked from a tree in Massachusetts is my favorite choice in the fall. I also love pink ladies and honey crisps, even if they aren't grown around here.

That exactly. I currently have 6 granny smith's waiting to be made into caramel apples for halloween. I also have 3 lbs of Gala apples, but that's not for eating, that's for making apple butter.

Honeycrisps- they have basically ruined other apples for me. I like my apple to have a firm texture with a lot of crunch. No mealy-ness! I can't stand Red Delicious anymore because it always seems like they are mealy!
