It's Fall here in upstate NY and that means APPLES!!
My favorites are Jazz (cross between Royal Gala and Braeburn) and Honey Crisp.
Are there major differences in calorie counts among apples?
- a quick search in the database and it looks like they're all pretty much the same (i looked at honey crisp, gala, fuji, breaburn and macintosh)
Honey Crisp apples from Michigan are the best. Too bad this year's crop was ruined. Washington versions are decent, but the Michigan variety is superior.0 -
Red gala apples or honey crisp. Dun like big or green apples haha.. 0

I used to hate apples... but found I actually only like certain kinds, and must be without the skin!
Honey crisp are my favorite so far. Grapples are pretty good too!

I usually buy Gala but also like Fuji. Macintosh, Honey Crisp and Braeburn. Can't stand Red Delicous, dry and mealy IMO. Not sure about the calories though but one would think the sweeter ones would be higher in calories.0

Mine is Pixirosso......it's a new ish variety in the UK, only available as trees currently, the flesh of the apple is dark pink, it is sweet, tangy, crisp and juicy, the best apple I've ever had.
Well worth looking out for!0 -

Raw, for eating: empire, gala, honeycrisp
For cooking: macintosh, gravenstein
I know they grow gravenstein here on the east coast of Canada, but my aunt in Ontario can't get them, so we have to bring her some when we come to visit.0
