Is this an American thing? As a healthy British male, the thought of welling up at a film sounds a bit wrong....

...Although, I did have a bit of a lump in my throat at the end of "Of Gods and Men" when I realised it was based on a true story.... no actual dampness around the eyeballs though - just a lump in the ol' throat!
It may sound wrong to an Englishman but to me, as a Welshman, it is perfectly normal.

Music does it too - Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on A Theme by Thomas Talllis" gets me every time I hear it.

    - and "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables"

I normally do not cry watching movie. The one that made cry was a Hindi movie called "Baagwan" starring Amitabh Bacchan. The movie is about ill treatment of their aging parents by their grownup kids. If you ever get a chance, please watch one - make sure the movie has sub-titles so that you can follow the dialogues and the emotional content.

BTW - The word "Baagwan" means a gardener. "Baag" means garden - reference to a family being a garden.

Its embarassing to say a movie that stars Keanu Reeves but Hardball gets to me every time.

Its about him coaching a little league team and one of the boys dies.

Tears? You mean water condensing on my face due to my total frozen coolness?

On that note, if I watch the Pixar film Up, I totally lose it.

Great, now I have to go fist fight a bear just to feel manly again

I watched "Saving Private Ryan" in Colorado Springs with my cadet son on Parent's Week. I shed a tear when Hanks said "earn this".

At the end, when the boy is running through the airport, gets the girl, and then runs back to his "dad" (Liam Neeson) triumphant.
