Legalize and tax the shiz out of it...I don't use it, but don't care if others would like to.
We have laws about operating while messed up but people can still be wasted. Why should the gov. decide how you can and cannot get messed up?0 -
Never been happier to live in WA!! Rolls a fat one**0

Speaking as proud voter for Colorado's Amendment 64, I can tell you that this will do amazing things for this state. If you've ever been here, you'll know that half the people here partake in the use of marijuana anyway. Now it can be regulated and taxed with the money going towards funding our schools. In addition to that, our tax dollars will no longer be wasted pursuing small time marijuana sellers, growers and users, and can now be spent fighting real crime. Beyond the medicinal qualities of marijuana, it is a very valuable natural resource and we now have the freedom to benefit from it. Thomas Jefferson would be proud.
ETA: There is no difference between this and the end of alcohol prohibition.0 -
If alcohol is legal, marijuana should be legal, too.0

also, if it is legal, gov. can insure laws are in place such that the product is safe/know what's in it.0 -
The days of Prohibition are numbered. Congratulations to those two states, as well as the MA that will now allow legal access for patients. Cannabis is *by far* the safer alternative to alcohol.0
-
Maybe it is at the State Level... but those states will still have to contend with the Federal Government on this issue.0

Cheetos a Doritos sales are about to spike in those states.0

Stoners rejoice. they can now smoke marijuana like they smoke cigarettes. The American IQ just took a big hit. What do you think?
Was the "took a big hit" pun intended? Just wondering.0 -
:smokin: :drinker:
and just to let the thread know, I've never even seen an illicit drug in my life, much less used. So my opinion does not come from a wanna be legal user.0 -

Its not a drug its a plant it just grows that way0 -

The benefits of marijuana are so great that this could NEVER be a bad thing. It cures cancer, it helps very sick people who cannot get relief from any man-made chemical and it end crime when legalized. Drug legalization = income from tax revenue and ending gang/cartel crime.
YAY!0 -
Terrible I know, now our jails wont be full of non violent criminals.0

Not to mention it vastly improves the quality of life of cancer patients. I read a story last week about a little girl who claimed that ingesting marijuana helped put her in remission.
For me personally, I have a joint (yes joint) disorder that causes me excruciating pain daily. There is no real way to treat it, practically no doctors will see you for treatment and It effects my diet, speech and life greatly. The most common treatment is muscle relaxers or pain pills, both of which can be expensive, addictive and many doctors won't prescribe them long term. Marijuana is the ONLY thing that has helped me manage the pain and symptoms. It's natural, non-addictive and has improved my quality of life. Until a person lives with pain so bad that they average 2-3 hours of sleep, cry out daily and nightly in pain that is so bad they feel like they will pass out, and live with that pain daily, they have NO RIGHT to tell me I can't take a natural supplement to help me live a bit better.0 -

And if you just so happen to set it on fire... :laugh:0 -
Just one more thing they can tax to death.0
-
Countries who have legalized drugs (not just pot) have seen addiction rates drop tremendously. Humane nature is to get what we can't have...give it to the people and it loses appeal. If it doesn't then it just seems like natural selection at work to me!0
-
Clean marijuana plants have way more health benefits than a bottle of hard liquor ever will. If is taxed and regulated properly, it will solve way more problems than it creates.0

It's not a new one for the Federal government. They have known since the 70s that THC has the potential to destroy cancer cells. What they *didn't* know is that it is not just THC, but also CBD. Both THC and CBD work together to seek out and destroy cancerous cells, as well as directing your body to grow new, healthy cells. If it weren't for all the lies and corruption, America would have *tons* of studies on this by now. Instead, we have to rely on studies done in Europe. The cannabis plant has thousands of cannabinoids, in addition to THC, which have a variety of medicinal properties. This is why the plant is beneficial for treatments of so many different types of illnesses.0 -
Now that it's legal it won't be as much fun.0

hahaha I've seen it plenty - I never partake anymore b/c usually it makes me sick - irony behind that but I know
I know plenty of avid smokers and you'd NEVER realize it .... Hard workers, beautiful homes, american dream type families0 -
Blaze on!0

I feel the same way, but bust anyone caught driving stoned, just like alcohol.
Anyway, I doubt it will stop the feds from making arrests, they are no respecters of state law.0 -
Just one more thing they can tax to death.
They will be doing so in Washington for sure. In CO, they legalized home growing, so that's how to avoid those taxes.0 -
I live in WA and im not happy about this. Hope they tax the crap out of it0
-
it will almost immediately remove the criminal penalties for adults 21 years old and over possessing marijuana privately.
What won't happen immediately is marijuana shops opening up throughout Colorado.
State lawmakers would have this upcoming session to develop rules and laws to govern how to regulate these stores. Localities would also have the opportunity to regulate them as well.
Tvert said, "What we do is we give localities the ability to regulate these businesses, regulate how the products are sold, labeled, the security associated with them, the advertising. And then we also give them the ability to prohibit them if that's what they prefer."
Several things will not change.
It will be just as illegal for anyone under 21 to possess marijuana as it is now. Also, it will be just as illegal to drive under the influence of marijuana.
I'm not against Maryjane in anyway...0 -
Hurray for progression! We might just make it after all. :drinker:0
