I don't know how much you had to lose, but even if it was a lot I would be skeptical. If it's the truth then I would say your taking things way to fast.0 -
Um....I don't buy it.
Why not? He/she has 164 pounds to lose; of course the weight is going to come off fast at first. It's fantastic, healthy weight loss with that calorie intake. I wouldn't be so supportive if he/she dropped down to 1200 calories. :P0 -
Um....I don't buy it.
Nor do you have to. Im just reporting my results. You not buying it does not mean I didnt lose 39 pounds in 7 weeks.
Im working out 3 days a week and each time burning about 750 cals. Im eating less and excercising more and have a lot to lose so its coming off fast in the begining.0 -
I just wanted to add that I think that you should go back 2000 calories a day. 1500 seems a bit low. You'll still see weight loss, I'm sure. It might not be 8 pounds a week, but you won't have many more 8 pound losses anyways if you're doing it healthy, slow, and safe.0

Keep up the fantastic dedication and good luck!0

Im eating great and healthy and lots of variety and not suffering or hungry. Im taking no pills or gimicks. Just eating less and working out more.0 -
I just hoped you have done this with the knowledge and approval of your physician. While I support eating healthy and exercising, your weight loss seems very extreme. However, I'm not a doctor. I just know that I have about 75 lbs to lose and my doctor does not want me to drop more than 2 lbs in a week. She said 1.5 lbs a week is perfect. Please talk to your doctor and make sure that you are doing this in a safe way.0

Yep me neither. 11lb sin 1st week on a cal limit that high only working out 2-3 times a week? Yeah right.....I workout 7 days a week, eat under 1600cals a day (some days only just on 1200) and it's taken 9 months today to lose 69lbs.
BTW I burn at a minimum of 600 cals each day.
I don't buy it at all.0 -

This is all being done with the consent of my PCP and the diabetes life coach (im taking weekly classes) and the fitness center I attend. Ive got 164 pounds to loose. I don’t expect this sort of loss every week. One look at my last 7 weeks of meal as detailed here would show that I am eating well (just less).0 -

I was 364 pounds to begin with so I have plenty to lose. Ive lost only 9% of my weight in 7 weeks. That does not seem so much. As I said, Im eating well and not starving by any means.0 -
Wow... I don't understand all the negativity.
So what if he's lying (which I can't imagine why he would...), it's no skin off anyone's back.
And if he's telling the truth, then he's made great headway into a 164 lb. journey.
Either way, no one comes to this website to be shat on. Let's all be positive and support eachother!0 -
Great Job! Don't worry about the skeptics. It sounds like you have good real life support and know what you need to do.0
-
Previous commenters: seriously? Can it. A lot of factors come into play at the beginning of a change in lifestyle and this loss is absolutely possible and acceptable (as long as OP has consulted a physician and has the all-forward). If you don't buy it, run the numbers... then factor in water weight lost with a reduction of sodium and intake and voila.
OP- congrats on your loss and kudos for the steps you are taking to a healthier you! That's great progress and you should be so proud. Don't get discouraged if it does slow down.. it's an inevitable pain in the butt :-) Keep up the good work and don't listen to the dissenters!0 -

where's the amen --button?0 -
Don't forget water weight people! To the OP - That is an amazing start... good for you!!0
-
Wow, OP, sorry you've gotten such a negative reaction from so many people!
You deserve to be congratulated and nothing less!
Some people let their jealousy get the best of them, I guess?0 -
Gee there is a lot of negativity here. Everyone is different, I lost 8 lbs the first week I did weight watchers 80lbs ago and I didn't even exercise at that time. Obviously it was lots of water and the next few weeks I lost 3-5lbs. The most important thing is this person is trying to take their health into their own hands and is obviously proud of what they're doing and we should encourage their success. Most of you who are "skeptical" aren't even coming back with encouragement and helpful comments. Do you just troll the success story boards to bring other people down when you are having trouble with your own success?
If you are truly concerned that what someone is doing is dangerous there are nicer ways to show actual concern and encouragement. We have all wanted to lose weight and get healthy and someone who has 10lbs to lose is going to lose it a hell of a lot slower at first compared to someone who has 100+ it's a long road for all of us. Have some consideration we're all on the same side.0 -
People! Before making assumptions and criticizing please ask. Everyone is different and the more you have to lose, the more pounds you'll lose weekly. Not only that, but there are so many factors, that even when you have done a similar regimen, you have different results.
congrats!! keep up the good work0 -
Let me clarify my previous comment. I am proud of the accomplishments of the OP. I was just hoping that it was being done safely and with doctor's consent. Since the OP said he/she has real life support and approval, then I say good for you!0
-
don't be such haters!! the OP is bettering themselves...not everyone needs to just lose 1-2 lbs a week for it to be considered healthy weight loss! my goodness!
OP: fantastic work! Keep it up, it is very inspiring!0 -
