What is the one thing you gave up to lose weight (if any)?

Most- high glycemic foods- especially flour, starch (except sweet potatoes), sugar, syrups-I just feel like crap after eating any of them. When I have a sugar craving I eat some honey, usually with a protein such as zero fat greek yogurt.0

Cereal has been one of my personal downfalls, too. Especally kid's cereals, the high-sugar ones. I could eat almost a box a day! I've since cut that out, but it's really hard sometimes!0

Sugar as well as artificial sweeteners... No more Sweet and Low or anything (if it can be helped) with artificial sweeteners like Crystal Light.
I do use agave and Stevia to sweeten things.0 -
Well it wasnt fast food, I have 'issues' with who prepares my food and where so I never ate that anyway, never ate from street stands either. All Ive done is cut down my portion sizes. I didnt want to give anything up!!0

Ive cute back on my two loves.....red wine and skittles. I haven't cut them out totally because I only want them more then end up on a massive pig out and wake up on a sugar low n hungover lol......everything in moderation I say:happy:0

I gave up my time.
I used to have tons of free time to just lounge around, knit, watch tv, read, whatever. Now I go to the gym. I can't make plans on MWF because those are my gym evenings, and my plans on Saturday often start with telling someone "Well I'm going to the gym first, so it'll have to be a little later." And then there's all the time spent cooking, logging, planning everything.
And I gave up being able to just decide what I want when I get hungry. Now it's all planned and cooked ahead.0 -

I gave up a life.....for a new one...one without fast food, greese, sweets, bread or pop......and I'm happy in doing so and much healthier....0

Fast food for the most part (maybe once a month) and I don't drink soda at all anymore. Only when I'm having a migraine and I need a rush of caffeine to take my meds with and I'll have one of those really small cans.0

EXCUSES0

I no longer drink coke and other carbonated drinks. good news, they make me wanna throw up now.0

For me, I am a big tv and movie person. When I get off work, I work out. But I would use the excuse of I will workout after X show and then get comfortable and not workout. So the saying A body in motion stays in motion and a body at rest stays at rest is true. I just had to discipline myself to workout first and I can always watch the show later.
Pizza is my main food weakness that I really fight to give up.0 -
I've stopped buying oreo cakesters, packaged cookies/cakes, chocolate bars/candy. The only time I'll eat those things are like once in a blue moon, or if I go to a party or something, or if someone offers me one and I have enough calories to spare. but they're definitely no longer part of my regular diet anymore (i used to eat *kitten* like that EVERY DAY)
I don't even touch cold cereals anymore. They never fill me & are full of sugar and are way too easy to overeat. If I have cereal I just stick to flavored oatmeal. I also never get french fries anymore with fast food meals. When I do go out for fast food (which again has become super rare), I have just the burger/sandwich and nothing else.
Also I stay away from white bread/grains. When I do eat grains, I want them to be whole.
I don't even see it as "giving up" anything. I just don't want most of that stuff anymore. It doesn't benefit me. If I do have chocolate/dessert type things, that's like a "treat". But other things I simply no longer care for.0 -

Gave up the idea I was supposed to eat three meals a day with a desert or something sweet in the evening. I also had a milk addiction. Now it's one meal at lunch (low cal),two smaller meals, couple of healthy snacks. And milk is basiclly out of my diet now. Water drinker.0

Meat, eggs, and almost all dairy. I didn't even have to watch what I was eating for the first 22lbs I lost, it just came off.0

BBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR.... Didn't quite give it up, just cut down on it a whole bunch! The sugar calories in the delicious high gravity beers will add fluff weight quickly.
Unfortunately, Fat Tire gave me a Flat Tire0 -
