Going from *kitten* to fit!

No fat burners, no keto/ paleo/ atkins/ low carb or whatever diet, no personal trainers and yes no cardio.

Just simple calories in vs calories out with a basic full body weight lifting routine done 3 times a week.

This all took me about 8 months, the far right photo is me last summer:

Yup, people worry too much about the scale and numbers when in reality it's body composition that matters most.

While I agree with that for a 200# man. A 5'8" woman at 190 just wasn't working for me. I'm hoping to thin out to my old 135# then work on putting on muscle in the right places. My husband is retired military and they couldn't base his fitness by height/weight because he is jacked, they had to tape him. I'm not so much worrying about the scale but about feeling comfortable in my own skin.

Congrats. What exercises did you do?

In my workouts I tried to stick to compound movements and do 1 exercise for each body part. Here's a typical workout I'd do:

    3 sets of:

    Squats
    Barbel rows
    Inclined dumbbell press
    Shoulder press

    2 sets of:

    Triceps push down
    Biceps dumbbell curls
    Side lateral raises

And for abs all I did was planks

Fair, thought you carried 200lbs originally 'better' than I did figures you've got a fair bit of height on me. But good results dude!

.. however now I've switched over to doing upper/ lower 2 days a week each. I think full body workouts are a great beginner routine.

You got those abs just by doing planks? No freakin' way! Did you plank for like an hour a day?

If you really squeeze your abs and keep your core as tight as you can while doing planks, they work wonders. It's not about how long you can hold it, but how much you feel the abs working while doing them. It's the mind-body connection.
