Holiday Asphalt Kickers (closed group of Fly the World)

Welcome Team Holiday Asphalt Kickers! Are you ready to fly the world?

team members are: 3dogsrunning, AngelofMusic13, butters1, cornerofgreystreet, ka97, Missit0101, & trijoe. Please note the late addition of my pal cornerofgreystreet . An already awesome team just got even better:flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:

The basic gist of this thread is: I need you to report calories burned by day here. Each calorie burned = 1 mile for this game. I will then report them all to Lee who runs the Fly the world game every day or two and post a daily & game total summary here.

Example: 12-1 Bike 231 calories
or
12-2 Swim and run 560 calories

* You only need to post new calories. I will keep the history.
* If you miss posting, please list the missed day as well and I will catch it up. Just keep it by day so i do not duplicate them.
*Only calories burnt for the sole purpose of exercise count.
* Feel free to correct me if i mess your totals up:wink:

Lee then updates the google map game(every day or two) which moves our plane and other teams of 7. The map is here:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=204655860575059420912.0004cf57b94bacff8481c&msa=0&ll=69.839622,-22.851562&spn=38.782848,158.027344&iwloc=0004cf57c40ab34a107bb

We start December 1st. I see some serious Asphalt Kicking a comin'

Have fun all:heart:

Butters, as always, Thanks so very much for taking charge of this. We couldn't have a better team leader.

Greystreet, it's good to see you joining in the around the world revelry. It really is tons of fun, and GREAT workout motivation.

To the rest of my teammates - Its good to see you guys again! Some are mfpals that I get to see every day anyway, but some aren't, and it's great to be able to come together and have some fun.

    I'm getting pretty excited...

    TriJoe.

    Sunday, 12/2:

    20min trainer ride
    5min planks
    50min hill run
    5min cool down

    843 calories.

In case you're paying attention, YES I took the MissFit plank challenge. YES I'm completely nuts. And YES it made the hill run afterwards more painful than usual. I've spent the morning with body parts from my ankles to my shoulders screaming at me. Occasionally with curse words.

MissFit: When you put forth a challenge, you don't noodle around.

Hello wonderful teammates! I am happy to make my first contribution today as yesterday was a rest day.

    12/2 Swimming
    1 mile freestyle
500 m backstroke and cool down
Total: 60 minutes and 480 calories burned.

I tried to wear my HRM into the pool today but it didn't want to cooperate so I am going to have to trust MFP's numbers for calories burned.

Edited to add that I will be joining the plank challenge for the day also. I am going to have to google to find a technique that will not hurt my foot.

Cool to see you adding challenges MissFit & Trijoe. And awesome participation from this group. (I need to get it in gear) Great job!

@COGS - any reasonable method of counting calories works. My swimming is just an estimate too. It's all good.

    Excellent start all!

    12/3- 40 minutes bike; 40 minutes weights; 70 minutes swim= 950 kcal

My HRM stopped working in the water a couple of months ago, so my swims are estimates too (I think I just need a new chest strap).

HRM's have a hard time surviving in the water. Most say things like "good for 50 meters depth" or something to that extent. What they don't tell you is, that's all about water pressure, not about actually getting wet. It doesn't take much before a HRM is ruined. And I've ruined both the watch and the strap swimming.

So anyway, good luck finding a HRM that not only stays dry and functioning, but actually works well in the water.

Off to a slow start this month thanks to a family wedding (and recovery yesterday). I'llbe honest, the ONLY reason I went to master's swim tonight after my 12 hour dayshift was because of this group (which is a good thing). Anyway, ended up with a great swim. Coach pushed us pretty good.
    So...

12/03 - 447 calories from 1 hour of swimming. I used the MFP estimates but renamed the exercise for those who are on my FL.

Aw! You rock as always!:flowerforyou: I find this group very motivational too. It is wonderful to see how hard others work through whatever is going on in their lives and/or physical issues.

Team, i know it's early, but we are currently in 3rd....wow, we are cruisin'!

12/4 : 436 calories for me. Stairmaster. I should get extra for dripping sweat.

Note: I should be around in the early am tomorrow but it will be short as we are leaving on vacation. I will have limited or no internet access until early Friday evening. I will catch up then if not before. Keep posting - you guys are rockin' it!
