michelle--hope you can get that computer fixed--how annoying! and that playgroup re-energizes you.
trish--bummer dave. great that you have a reliable mechanic.
dolphin--phew! what a relief to know that there's no real damage.

and amy--1/2 inch for sure counts! keep doing what you're doing and add a cpl challenges to see more #s change. :) re: dd--good thing that you're all staying on top of it. i hope you get more reassuring answers.
ironically, we're looking to have our 5.5 y.o.'s hearing checked too. she's always really loud but dsn't seem to get it. and she's complained that her ears still hurt after a recent nascent ear infection. hmmm

alright--goal today--drink water and do some kind of exercise!!
tacos for kids tonight but there's leftover steak for me.
    later chicas--

Gm ladies- I ahve been quiet today, I am not feeling 100%. Hubs brought home a "gunk" the other day, fever, chills, sore throat, and I feel like I am getting it...ugh...I sat down on the couch whil Kyle was doing his history assessment and fell asleep! OOPS!!!:blushing:  istill like I could sleep the rest of the day.

Trish- I hope you got Dave's doo fixed and I hope gracie gets better.

Amy- 1/2" is nothing to sneeze at, great job!

Dolphin- I am glad it wasn't that bad about the water problem!

Stacey-I would take the leftover steak too!

Uh oh, Nicole's got the gambu! Time to bulk up on airborne & cold eeze

Still waiting for Jazz to show up so I can take Dave into mechanic. Still need to do Wii BL workout. I'd rather have a nap! Grace is really snotty, but she seems to be in good spirits. She danced to a few of her favorite shows, and has been very mellow. If she was super duper sick, she'd be really clingy, but she hasn't been, so I'm hoping whatever's going on with her will pass quickly.

Buitoni Ravioli for dinner tonight with leftover breadsticks from Saturday that desperately need to be finished. Yum!

Dolphin - I'm glad there's no major damage to your house.

Nicole - You sound like you're where I was last week. I hope you feel better soon! If you feel like sleeping, then sleep. :flowerforyou:

Trish - I'm glad Grace isn't badly sick. It is so hard on us mommies when our kids are sick. :flowerforyou:

Stacey - I hope your 5.5 y.o. is OK. :flowerforyou: Those ear infections can be rough. Samantha had one right after another from 12 months to 18 months when we were able to get tubes and her adenoids removed. She was just fine until last year when she had 2 back-to-back. Samantha only seems to either scream loudly or be so quiet that no one can hear her.

Well, I walked to pick up the kids and I've got 3 of my 5 cups of water. I'm hoping to get more than 5 in, but 5 is my goal. Uhh oh. I have a horrible situation here I HAVE to take care of! Samantha is all upset right now because none of her dress up shoes look good with the pants she's wearing! LOL Someone needs a nap.
  • Hi Everyone!

So many positive things to read from all of you!

Amy - way to go on the 1/2 inch...every bit counts, that is awesome!!
Trish- Sorry to hear about Dave's door. We always seem to have some issue right after we purchase a used car. Just be glad it's so soon and you shouldn't have to pay for it!
Nicole-Awesome job on 10 miles. That is incredible!
Val-Welcome and one of our favorite light meals is "Burger & rice in a pile" Turkey burger sauteed w/ onions, zucchini, stewed tomatoes, add cooked brown rice, top w/ cheddar cheese (I usually leave it off for mine and top everyone elses now).
Stacy-glad to hear the school visit went well.

I am doing OK, sort of at a standstill w/ weight but I'm sure I'll move forward again soon. I've been able to work out everyday this week! I stayed at my mom's for the night last night and used her tm this morning...good thing too b/c she made me and the kids french toast for breakfast! I managed to stay just under calories despite the maple syrup!

I can't believe this "vacation" week is almost over already. I have not accomplished all I need to! Going to have to be busy tomorrow.

  • Wow I feel like I haven't posted in quite a while. Things having been good here. Sticking to my calories(100 over or so) and drinking my water. :) AF has been visiting this week so I can't give a good report on the scale yet.

I managed to have an awesome workout even though hubby was home yesterday--I have trouble working out with him home. He is distracting & I am like a lot of you & don't feel comfortable with him "watching." Silly I know.

One thing I have noticed lately though is that my kids are being more active on their own. They are book worms & love to read so sometimes I have to kick them outside or tell them to get up & DO something active. My oldest two kids have been using the TM and yesterday my little girl(11) asked to ride her daddy's stationary bike. I think seeing me choose to be active is rubbing off on them! Love it!

I am rejoicing and sympathizing with all of you tonight--just don't have the energy to comment.

Bathroom report--I painted the walls(most of them) this afternoon & put on a 2nd coat this evening. Tomorrow we can put the toilet back in. I feel so silly about being so happy about this! But I am.

    Goals for tomorrow
--Finish school w/ youngest early so I can walk before we go to town for lessons & dentist appt.
    --Water--8 glasses
--Plan something FUN for us to do as a family this weekend. This is the first one home in 3 weeks. Then starting next week we are gone for 3 again. Yikes!

Yay Dolphin on the house troubles not being too troublesome!

Boo to all the sick people and kiddos! :( I hope and pray all of you return to better health!

It's so exciting to hear about people losing inches (or even fractions of an inch) and pounds! I'm so excited to see those results for me!

As for me, today was a rougher day for me. We just got this house and the carpets were feeling pretty nasty so we shampooed them today. Of course this meant moving all the furniture off all our 4 rooms and living room and family room, and then moving them back. Some of the furniture still clutters our hallways. Do to all that I didn't get my workout in, and I had leftover KFC because it was about to go bad. :( I only went over by a little bit but I'm more disappointed about not getting my workout in today. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day! I get to visit my sister tomorrow, but with this whole carpet cleaning thing done, I should have plenty of time tomorrow morning to get in my workout (maybe add a little extra time to make up for today) and still make it to my sisters. Yay!

My kids love to "train", ride their smart cycle and the other on the TM, it is quite fun. It is incredible how your eating habits and exercising habits flow to them. Had a rough last 2 nights with kids waking up screaming and wanting to play. So sleep has been minimum and interupted, i think we are getting more teeth. Weather is finally a little nicer today, hopefully playgroup will play outside.

Wow! You girls have been busy!!

CV ~ Maybe he can take the kids somewhere else so you can work out in peace?? :)

Dolphin ~ Good news about the crawl space! We replaced the carpet in the office and dining room with laminate wood and absolutely love it! Have no idea why someone would put carpet in the main dining area...c'mon people! I also think wallpaper should be illegal ;)

Trish ~ yay on getting to 19 minutes!! WOHOO!

Val ~ Wow, that's awesome info about the intervals! Yesterday I ran 30 minutes, but I did 2 minutes at 6.4mph and recovered at 5.4mph for 3 minutes. Maybe I'll do that all the time now! I was just trying to work on my speed so that I can run faster on the long runs....I definitely need the most help in the thigh and hip area!! Favorite easy meals: turkey burgers with roasted asparagus and zucchini, chicken/feta/spinach grilled wraps, Chicken sausage pasta (low fat alfredo, and fire roasted tomatoes, whole grain pasta, and smoked garlic and mozzarella chicken sausage from Sam's Club, so good, just hard to stick to a serving size LOL), BBQ Chicken packets, Shepherd's Pie...I have lots. I'm all about easy low fat cooking!

Nicole ~ Shut up!! That's amazing!! My goal is to get to 10 miles one day. Congrats!! Hope you don't get sick :(

Amy ~ Yay! I'm happy with any loss!! :) Sorry about your daughter though, hope everything turns out ok

So I decided to do something new for the next 30 days, dont' know if you saw the post about it, but it's the 30 Day Slim Down with Jillian using her 3 DVDs, which I already have so I'm going to do it along with my running :) Yesterday was day 1, got my run in (5k in 32:40) and did 30 Day shred level 2 after the boys went to bed. Today I'm doing NMTZ, and tomorrow is my long run with 30 Day shred again. I weighed and took measurements this morning and will do it again after the 30 days! I'm excited! Well, I smell a stinky diaper, better go!

TGIF Everyone! It has been a great week!

Kim-we remodeled our master bathroom over the summer, took us 4 long months to do it, but we finally finished it. We have 2 story house with all the bedrooms upstairs, and the laundry room was all the way downstairs, across the house next to the garage, with 7 people, trying to carry laundry up and down the stairs everyday, was a pain. So we decided to buy stackables and remodel our bathroom/closet and put them in the closet, we took out a small linen closet, that is where the stackables went, so we lost no space in our main closet, we tore all the carpet and linoleum out and put tile down, and repainted the whole bathroom. Just the time it saves me to do laundry was so worth the money and the time it took to get it done, I know how excited you are to get your toilet back, I was so excited!

val-i may be shampooing our carpets downstairs this weekend, we priced out hardwood floors, but will probably have to wait until after spring break, before we can buy and install, so I will shampoo this weekend, clean carpets are a must.

Michelle-we are finally out of the night time waking, our youngest will be 3 in May, and she's doing pretty well with sleeping in her own bed, only in ours about 1 night a week. Good luck with getting some much needed sleep.

Katie-sounds like your a busy woman exercising, I bet you feel great. That's awesome, I had all that energy before I got sick, I'm just taking it easy and basically starting over, 45 min. on the Wii, is about all I can handle for now, will slowly work my way back up. Good luck in running the Bloomsday in May :)

Today is grocery shopping day, normally I don't go on Friday's because its so busy, but I don't think I have enough food for the weekend. So after I get my work done this morning, hopefully a light workout in, then drop my 5 y/o off at school, the little one's and I will head to the store. My 11 y/o asked me the other day what was for breakfast, all she could find was stuff that was multi-grain, haha, I told her because its good for her.
Yesterday we spent 2 1/2 hours outside in the sun, in light jackets, felt so good, washed the car, then we sat outside and ate some popcorn, soaking up the vitamin D. I think this is a little tease of spring, I have a feeling the cold nasty weather will be back.

Happy Friday to everyone, enjoy your day!

Good morning! I made my little goals yesterday! My eating wasn't great yesterday, but it wasn't too bad either. For the next week or so I'm going to concentrate on increasing my water intake and my exercise level instead of food. I'm not going to allow myself to eat just anything, but I'm not going to worry about my calories as much. I have noticed a trend over the 9 months I've been here that I do better (and feel better) when exercising and getting enough water.

So, it's another beautiful day here and supposed to be close to 50. The kids are walkers Tue, Thu, & Fri, so I'm planning on walking to get them again today. Samantha complained yesterday about the walk, but Will did great! It's a 1.4 mile walk round-trip. My other goal is to increase my water to 6 cups today. I want to get back to drinking the amount I used to and trying to keep up with Trish and Nicole!

Kim - It's definitely not silly to be so happy about the bathroom. I can completely relate! I've had several home renovations (not just the more recent floor) that took a while, but it was so satisfying when they were done. I'd love to see pictures when it's done!

Katie - How do you like the other Jillian Michaels DVDs? I have Banish Fat Boost Metabolism (I think that's what it's called), and I like it. I can only get through the warm-up and circuit 1 before I'm worn out. I haven't done it in about 3 weeks or so since I got sick last week and getting ready for 2 parties the week before that. Once I get my energy level back up with my walking, I plan on adding the DVD back in.

Well, gotta get back to work! :flowerforyou:

So this morning I got on my wii board and it said I weighed 214.4. I was like "Whaaaat?" So I got on the house scale aaaand, sure enough! 215.6
That's a 2.8 lb loss for the week. I am hoping for another .2 by tomorrow for a 3 lb loss. Irregardless, I'm happy the scale is finally moving again! Yeehaw!

Grace seems to be better today, but she's burping a lot. Hmmm. She threw up last night all over Daddy, but I'm pretty sure it was just b/c she had liquid in her belly & was coughing so much. Too much drainage + coughing + reflux = BLEH!

Keep up all the great work, ladies! My goals for today:
Get my run in & drink 120 oz of water

GM ladies- I am feeling a little better than yesterday. My head feels heavy though! I use the 30 day shred, and I have noticed inches coming off since I have been using it!

Katie- I agree with the wallpaper and carpet in the dining room....and when people put carpeting in the bathroom, especially around the toilet.....EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW

Trish- YAY!!!! the scale is moving!

Amy-CHUG CHUG!!!! You can do it!

TO everyone else, have a splendid day, I am going to go curl up on the sofa and hopefully not fall asleep on Kyle again!

I am going to take it easy today though too. i did run yesterday...HA...i just put one foot in front of the other...at least that's what I had to keep telling myself. I am addicted, did I mention that before?

trish--you are a powerhouse! nuff said

i met ZERO goals yesterday. got caught up in computer stuff and did schoolwork with girls. found two great projects for little ones.

also, spent time searching for houses. we are thinking of moving to a diff part of town (hence all the rearranging and decluttering), but the 2nd realtor said we can get so little for our house. we're in las vegas and like many we are upside down. with his #s, we'd have to come up with an addnl 140K to make the loan whole!! we know we'll have to come up with a lot, but $140K is just too much for us to do. and we can't renegotiate loan b/c dh owns his own business--so personal credit and business credit are related. we just can't wreck our personal credit cuz it will mess up his ability to run business. plus, we can make our payments; it's just that the current value of home is soooo much less than what we paid for it in the bubble of 2005.

don't get me wrong--i love our house! and i know how hard my dh works to keep us financially afloat. but i wanted to move closer to the synagogue(s) and the jewish community--for myself and the kids. plus, there are many more walkways and other "pretty" elements in that area of town. and the public school is better than the one we're at now.
honestly, if i could just plop our house down over there i'd be thrilled!
so, i was feeling rather deflated yesterday.
sorry to ramble. but that's why i didn't sign in yesterday. and why i've been so glued to the computer.

kim--so awesome on the progress you're making on your bathrm. that is GREAT!
and amy--i'm impressed by your determination and your astute observations of yourself.

today we have better plans--girls will do schoolwork then to Y to play in the warm "therapy" pool. this afternoon will be more schoolwork, laundry and dd1 needs to practice her song for shabbat services tonight.
i'm glad we have fun things to focus on. and i will drink my water!!

hope EVERYONE has a great Friday!:flowerforyou:

and thanks--as usual--for being a place for me to come with more than my wt loss struggles.

    nicole--hehehe re: running
~~get well vibes and rest peacefully~~~ so you can get to feeling better :flowerforyou:
  • Do any of you remember the whiny girl who came here & said "you burn how MANY calories in a wkout?"(that would be me by the way). I have to share how much better I am doing! Back then(you know 2 or 3 weeks ago?) I was walking for 30 minutes & excited if I burned 100 calories. I have to say you all have been inspiring. I wasn't pushing myself AT ALL!

Today I walked for probably 10 minutes & jogged/ran for 20(using intervals) plus cool down. That was 325 calories in 35 minutes!!!!! And the best thing--I could have gone on for more. I wasn't wiped out & ready to fall down. My errand days aren't totally killing me these days. I really think I have improved my health tremendously just by pushing myself a little bit. Sometimes we don't know what we CAN do until we do it. Also just the feeling of being "comfortable" in my clothes--not loosening yet but it is coming I know it! I need new jeans & I WILL not get any until I loose some!

Okay off my rant now--thanks for listening!

Trish--WWWWHHHOOOO!!! Glad you are seeing progress
Nicole--Take it easy girl--sleep if you need to!
Amy & all--thanks for the encouragement on the bathroom--pictures to come later :)

Kim - Whoo hoo!!!! That is wonderful!! I can't wait until I have that feeling too.

Well, I walked to pick up the kids from school today. It is a beautiful day! I was so happy when we got to where I usually park the truck when I drive to the walkers area, and Samantha said in a very happy voice, "Yay! You're making us walk today!" The kids actually did some running on the way home. They would run ahead to a certain spot and wait for me to catch up.

And I'm half way through my water today! 3 down...3 to go! :drinker:

hi gals! tomorrow night we're doing a family fun night--Movie Star Night

do you have any ideas for foods or activities
    so far we have
--salad, veges and dip and crackers
    --popcorn
    --making pretend movie posters
--charades or guess who i am
    --watch a movie
--pretend to be celebrity and paparazzi

anyone else have fun ideas to make the night special?
dinner tonight will be pizza, btw

Stacey - Family Fun Night sounds fun!! We do those some nights too. We should do them more often. We usually just do board games or card games and pop popcorn with the hot air popper. I was lucky enough to get the old 80's hot air popper that my parents used when I was little. It makes popping popcorn with my kids even more special to me. I'll have to remember charades. The kids would love it!

I made my goals today and passed them! I walked a total of 3 miles today. I walked to pick up the kids, but after we got back from picking up the kids from Parents Night Out at the church, I hopped up on the treadmill and walked some more. I needed to after breakfast for dinner at Bob Evans! I've also made my 6 cups of water and I'm already half way through the 7th. I don't know if it's just wishful thinking or if it's real, but even after just 2 days of walking and increased water, I'm already feeling better.

Time for me to get to bed. I hope everyone has a great night! :flowerforyou:

Stacey, I hope you have a wonderful time with your family tonight. It sounds like fun.

Amy, way to get 'er done!

    Kim, wtg!

Everyone else, keep up the good fight, you are all doing great!

I didn't achieve any of my goals yesterday. Never made it to rec center for run, and only got 60 oz of water in. Amazingly, though, I still dropped another .4 lbs, bringing me up to 33 lbs lost. 2 more pounds & I'll be at 35!
Going to run with hubby this morning though, and Subway for lunch-- yum! I was super duper low on sodium today, so I can really splurge on my old favorite (cold cut trio, mmm).

Rattlesnake Penne for dinner tonight. (chicken, peppers, penne, and cream sauce)

We're eating a late breakfast, more like brunch, and then I'm going to get my shower and go out for a walk by myself. My water goal is 7 cups today.

And, yes, it's a weekend, and I'm here posting! I really need to keep posting on weekends. I need the accountability, and you girls are such great inspirations! :flowerforyou:

thanks trish and amy! i got 2 great books from the library that gave me loads of ideas.
i already told the girls and they're excited abt dressing up and posing on the "red" carpet and playing Guess Who I Am--we did a practice round. this makes me feel so good when i get the mom thing right.

next saturday night we'll be at synagogue for the rdg of the megillah (story of queen esther) and silliness followed by carnival fun and costumes on sunday day.

and the next saturday will be Animal Night--we'll eat animal crackers, have chkn nuggets, apples/applesauce (for the vegetarian animals), play animal trainer (my kids LOVE this simple game!), color animal pics, play doggie, doggie where's your bone, and eat a mud cup with worms

these great ideas come from book from library--Family Fun Nights by Lisa Bany-Winters
another great resource The Book of New Family Traditions by Meg Cox (even things like Queen for the Day, Reading Meals, Family Happiness Party, etc)

trish--awesome on all the #s coming off!
and amy--great with meeting all your goals. i'm super proud of you!!

and to everyone else--sorry for all the whining lately. i guess i let the floodgates open and then wallowed in it.

readjusting expectations is not my forte--but i'm there now. i feel better about it all.
and now it's time for me to re-focus on my good health and fitness goals. (girls go back to school on monday so that will help too!)
kim and nicole--it's really amazing to me how you manage to do the teaching/learning and run the house and get fit! exercise and good eating went by the wayside while the girls were off school, and that was only 2 weeks! :noway:

nicole--hope you're feeling better, that yesterday's rest has helped. :flowerforyou:

alright--gotta get dressed and the day can officially begin! :drinker:

Stacy- I live in Phoenix so I totally understand the whole housing problem! Our solution was we rented out our old house and then bought our new one. So technically we own two houses atm. But we plan to sell the other one as soon as the market "bounces back". (Fingers crossed)

Kim- I'm still in my maternity jeans because I don't want to buy new jeans till I lose all the baby weight. Totally with you on that one. I am also starting to gain more energy again now that i'm eating better and working out again.

Trish - I hope your kiddo is feeling better!

I had a good time with my sister. I brought left over lasagna with me so we wouldn't need to go out to eat or order pizza or something like that. My sister is moving to Denver in about 2 weeks so I'm glad to spend a little time with her before that. Today it's actually raining! So it will be an inside more quiet day. Still plan to get at least 30 minutes on the elliptical machine today during the toddlers nap time. :) More left over lasagna tonight!

Valmabel - MMMM . . . leftover lasagna! Sounds yummy! I love lasagna! That was a great idea to take something over to stop going out or ordering pizza. I don't think I would have been that good.

Stacey - Don't worry about the whining. I didn't take it as whining. Sometimes it takes a bit for us to re-focus. I know it did for me. You can do this! :flowerforyou:

So today I did my C25K. I went 2 miles in 25 mins. Needless to say, that's smokin' for me. I litterally flew through my first running interval-- too fast, in fact. I was burnt out the rest of the workout. BIG mistake! I only walked one interval when I was supposed to be running, and I did take a few mins to sit down and catch my breath toward the end. I was so out of breath, that I had to sign "water" to Andy. Just couldn't talk. I wish I could go that fast every interval. That was the first taste of speed I've had since I was a kid!
My sugar got real low afterwards though. I didn't feel low, but Andy could tell. My speech was really slow & slurred, and I had a hard time processing things. I'm okay now. I stole an oreo from Grace's lunch on the way into Subway, and I was fine about 10 mins after lunch. Just needed to eat.

Grace is mostly bushy tailed, but still really snotty. She is getting better every day at telling us when she needs to go potty. Gotta love kids who potty train themselves!

Stacey ~ I have a friend moving to LV in a few months, any suggestions?? Her husband will be with the reserved up at Creech so I think they are looking in NLV for buying a house :)

Trish ~ Wohoo on both the weight loss and your run today! YAY!!!

Did 30 Day shred level 1 this morning, and ran 7.75 miles this afternoon (1hr30min) and burned 1200 calories! LMAO, still have at least 700 left for the day, good thing hubby is cooking tonight, he never does it as healthy as I do ;)

katie, we live near where many of the military live (nellis and creech). i was just hangin' wiht a military mom at the Y this am. are they really interested?? buying or renting?? our home is well loved and right off the 215 (which he would take to work). and centrally located to parks, schools, walmart, costco, target and the Y and library.
the girl i talked to today is renting and the other woman i swam with yesterday bought a home. so military ppl do both. i
if they don't live on base, they live in the areas near me cuz the areas around the base are undesirable/not real safe. does that make sense? it's not like where most bases are---from what my many military friends and encounters have told me.

anyway--follow up with me on a pm and i can give you/her more information.
    thanks!!!
