Tight Lacing/ Waist Training/ Corseting

Hello MFP world! This topic is in the fun and games section but I'm sincerely curious about what y'all have to say. I love body modification, but outside of the more common piercing and tattoos, I love corset training (though I do it pretty darn recreationally, reducing my natural waist 3 inches or so). I'm considering getting more serious about it as I lose weight - working on a better hour glass figure and I slim down.
Does anyone else out there tight lace or have thought about getting into it?
I know there is some controversy on the topic - as there is around a lot of body mod. and I'd love to hear your opinions too. There is some really interesting research out there about the effects it can have on your body - especially if you become an extremist.
And, if anyone is wondering, I don't do it to fit someone else's ideal body - but because I really love, adore, am floored by the way it makes me look. It makes me feel amazing! We're all here working for our ideal body's right?

I'm not entirely sure what the question is. But this is one of my favorite subjects and I'm kind of an authority on corset history. I haven't counted but I currently own ~10 high quality hand made steel boned corsets. All of which are too big for me now, except 1. When I was fat, I was able to cinch down 8" comfortably just because of the squish factor. I'm not a tight lacer and I only wear corsets when dressing up. I don't know how far I'd be able to lace down now, probably the standard 4". Here's a picture of me taken last March, I think my waist is cinched ~3" in this picture, just because of the size of the corset (worn fully closed). Ignore the weird look on my face.

Not totally - people are also trying to get healthy. I have no issues with body modification as a concept, or wearing corsets - but extreme corsetting is potentially damaging to your health.0 -

And just cause, this is my favorite corset I've ever owned. Custom made by Electra Designs, unfortunately too big for me now. I had it made when I was caring for my mother as she was dying of cancer. I needed something frivolous.

that is gorgeous!
I love corsets and own several (annoyingly all too big now) but have never really delved into the waist reducing side of it. would be interested to see responses here0 -

No, I am correct. The pictures are from the 30's and depict a girdle, not a corset. I've gone to school for this, I've done my research. I actually had a very popular website on the history of corsets long before wikipedia was around.

So is your website no longer available? That would be a shame, as wikipedia is not the be all and end all of information - in fact it's often totally incorrect!
I have several corsets all of which fit me again now - one of which I made myself with proper steel boning and the correct material, I wanted to find out how difficult it was to do. I then got too big for them, but having lost my weight I can fit in them again. I don't do tight lacing, but they are really nice for going out and looking thinner than I actually am!0 -

No, she said the third picture. As in one, two, three. In the 30's pic there are *three* pictures, making the third pic the last pictured frame of the 30's set.
*facepalm*
Edited to add - we all know miss Dita doesn't need editing anyway.0 -
