And Kid Rock does an EXCELLENT show!

Say what you want about Kid Rock... guy does indeed put on a great show. lol

First Kid Rock concert I went to as a teenager there were strippers in cages and Lynyrd Skynyrd opened. Talk about a good time! haha It was in Detroit too so extra fun.
  • Simon & Garfunkel. Saw them in '03 in Atlanta. I absolutely love them and my (now-ex) husband surprised me with tickets for Christmas. We were in the very VERY top row of the Philips Arena, but it was amazing. I boo-hoo'ed through most of it. :)
  • Def Leppard! The best band ever!
Have seen them several times but the last time was three years ago for my 40th birthday. They were in Charlotte, NC with Cheap Trick and Poison. My sister and I had a blast. It will be hard to top!

Hard to choose - Rush and Dream Theater both put on awesome shows - they are so musically talented. Also Alice Cooper is an awesome showman. Many memorable ones - but probably Dream Theater doing all of Scenes from a Memory would rank #1.

On a side note to the OP - Iron Maiden is the worst concert I've been to - but not really their fault. It was at an outdoor venue - August in MI, but the temps got down in the 40's. This was in the early '90's, so Maiden had a ton of music to play, but made a setlist that barely hit an hour of music. Very disappointing - but it was too damn cold for them. I forget the opening act, maybe Corrosion of Conformity? but they played longer than Maiden did.

The best... That's a toughie! Bruce Springsteen when he was doing the Seger Sessions tour was amazing. The amount of energy he has totally boggles my lazy self.

Overall, my favorite concerts have been when the Irish group Lunasa has played my town's concerts in the park series... It's free, you can get right up close, and they are TREMENDOUS musicians.

Other important ones for me were Social Distortion (was right up front, getting my knees crushed to all oblivion) and Live/Collective Soul, because I went by myself and had a GREAT time.
  • 1. Paul McCartney - Wrigley Field 2011
    2. Roger Waters - Wrigley Field 2012
    3. Metallica - Rosemont IL 1991
    4. Iron Maiden - Chicago 1999
    5. U2 - Staples Center Los Angeles - 2001 (only time I've seen them where they've played Bad, my fave song!)

I can probably narrow it down to four, among MANY:

U2 - Joshua Tree Tour, RFK Stadium (September 1987)
Pink Floyd - Division Bell Tour, RFK Stadium (May 1988)
GN'R/Metallica/Faith No More - RFK Stadium (July 1992)
Pearl Jam - Versus Tour, Patriot Center (April 1994)

I love gigs and here are my 3 favorites; Queen - in Manchester many years ago, Noisettes at Rock City Nottingham, and Zutons outdoors at Nottingham Pines. But best value for me and quality has to be Mr Springsteen, Coventry City football ground amazing acoustic version of Born to Run.

Ooh nearly forgot Jools Holland and his big band tour, but not to be out done Jamie Cullum, does an amazing live set.

I must stop now I could go on forever!

Amazing list! Nirvana w/ The Breeders must have been great.
I saw Elvis Costello about 7 years ago. I was so pumped, but he was a total let down. He sounded great, but oh what a bore! It was a snooze fest for sure.

MCCARTNEY!!! <3 It was amazing!! He played for almost 3 hours straight! Oh, and 3 weeks before I saw McCartney, I saw Ringo!! :) That concert was equally as amazing.

    My other favourites have been:
    Aerosmith
    Bon Jovi
    No Doubt
    Alexisonfire
    Linkin Park
and NKOTBSB (yes, judge me, I'm a kid of the 90s that grew up on those boybands...)

    Garth Brooks - I was 14... A M A Z I N G!

ME TOO! I saw him in Feb 1994. One of the best ever. Martina McBride opened for him.

Then there's Garth in 1999 too w/ Trisha Yearwood

All Time Low puts on a great show if you're into pop/punk music. Just saw them with Yellowcard a week ago and had a blast.

Saw a bunch of bands on Canada Day way back in 1990. Tragically Hip and Kim Mitchel performed and it was a blast.

Roger Waters, Queen and Rush are up there too.

Rush!!! I've seen them about 30 times now, twice this current tour, and they still put on an amazing show. For me the only band that may have topped them is Pink Floyd, who I never got to see in concert.

I was at the August 3, 1991 show at the Forum in LA. They played for 3.5 hours...rediculous. Best show ever!
  • AC/DC....My husband and I's first trip together after we'd been dating a couple of months. It was his 4th or 5th time seeing them.

You go girl I love AC/DC seen them 5 times.

@Kristen82 Thanks, and Elvis was better when he was all cranked up. I saw him several times but he never matched his performance from '78.

I forgot two other great ones so it's a dirty dozen, not a top ten:

David Bowie Diamond Dogs Tour (sneaked away from summer camp to the Hartford Coliseum)
Devo at Bginnings in Schaumberg IL (they had just released their first album and the crowd didn't know what to make of them)

I also saw Kiss's first concert ever. They were total unknowns and warmed up for (I think) Argent and Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Academy of Music in full makeup and costume. The hippies in attendance were so freaked out that you could have heard a pin drop after every song. Good times!

Trey Anastasio and the Pittsburgh symphony orchestra, honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Second to that would be seeing Joe Bonamassa live, he is just disgustingly good at guitar, doesn't miss a note.
