Hang in there, and stick with your plan. I've been surprised how much my weight would go up / down while overall I was dropping.
Stalls will happen. I've had luck by mixing up the exercise when that happens to confuse my metabolism.0 -

I started TDEE minus 20% this week too and when I weighed in today it showed a 4lb increase just from last Sunday. I figured it had something to do with the sodium intake this week because I went over a few days but either way I know I can't make a snap judgement on whether my plan is working or not from this one week. Let's try it for a month and see where it leads us, patience my friend.0

Looks to me like you leave 300 uneaten calories every day...you could have another snack or more at a meal. Don't deprive yourself til your that unhappy. That's not what its all about. Good Luck.0

Frankly, your attitude sucks. A week is not enough time to rage-quit. Take a deep breath, calm down, and do something to relieve the stress. It doesn't have to be this hard. Read this- it's all my best advice (and that of some really successful others here):

Seriously, it doesn't have to be this hard.0 -
a simple formular to work out for yourselves how many calories you need a day is:-
your bodyweight in KG x 25 = BMR BMR x 1.3 = recomended daily K/CAL
Uhm, no. This ain't right.0 -
I laughed out loud at this pic. Thanks!
Me too!0 -
If you are slobbering an excessive amount, you might try upping your water intake...I joke only because the same freaking thing is happening to me.
Its frutrating and I hate it and I am so upset at myself. But then I have to stop and realize taht no matre the scale, i do FEEL better, I do HAVE more enerty, I HAVE lost inches, I HAVE MADE PROGRESS>. If nothing besides that happened, I will be a winner. So, try to not be so hard on yourself and realize that this takes so much TIME! As much as that sucks, its the truth.
Good luck to you and feel free to add me0 -

Listen to this woman. She knows.
Also, fix your attitude and get a handle on yourself. A week is nothing. Give it a month. Did you gain 50 lbs in a week? Don't expect to lose it in a week, either.0 -
Look, just cutting calories doesn't work for everybody. I can eat 500calories a day and not lose a gram if I am eating carbs. But I can eat 1500 calories of steak and bacon and other good stuff and shed weight like crazy.
If what you are doing is not working, try reducing your carbohydrates to under 30 for just a few days and see how your body reacts (unless you are diabetic).0 -
Might be as simple as water retention. I see you were pretty high in sodium last night. That could easily add a lb or two.0
-
a week isn't enough time, you have to wait a little bit longer than that sometimes. just keep up what you're doing. in a month you should see some changes. i know it's not the answer you want to hear but sometimes it's just how things are. same thing happened to me. i upped my calories and saw some weight gain even. then i started to lose again.0
-
As others have said, watch your sodium intake. I know if I go over the recommended 2,500mg I see it on the scale the next day. Try incorporating more home cooked meals into your diet. The fresher the food, the less sodium it has. I'm not saying you shouldn't have any processed food, just dial it back a little bit.
And, give it time. Not everyone sees results right away. Just don't give up.
Best of luck to you! :flowerforyou:0 -
Don't forget-- women tend to retain water at certain times of them month (I can gain 3 pounds)... So that could be a contributing factor... JUst don't give up and don't get discouraged-- no body loses weight overnight-- it will come!0

If she is using the same scale to weigh herself it is irrelevant.0 -
Try fkn it always helps me.
Otherwise relax it happens to most of us at some point. Change up your routine too.0 -

Hmm makes me wonder what advice you had lol.0 -
A plateau lasts 4-6 days and frequently occurs during the second half of a diet particularly in those that have been doing well. Those who are losing more than the average all have a plateau sooner or later. A plateau always corrects, itself, but many who have become accustomed to a regular weekly loss get unnecessarily worried and begin to fret. No amount of explanation convinces them that a plateau does not mean that they are no longer responding normally to their diet.
The weight registered by the scale is determined by two processes not necessarily synchronized. When dieting fat is being extracted from the cells, in which it is stored in the fatty tissue. When these cells are empty and therefore serve no purpose, the body breaks down the cellular structure and absorbs it, but breaking up of useless cells, connective tissue, blood vessels, etc., may lag behind the process of fat-extraction. When this happens the body appears to replace some of the extracted fat with water which is retained for this purpose. As water is heavier than fat the scales may show no loss of weight. When then such tissue is finally broken down, the water is liberated and there is a sudden flood of urine and a marked loss of weight. This simple interpretation of what is really an extremely complex mechanism is the one we give those who want to know why it is that on certain days they do not lose, though they have committed no dietary error.
Basically you're doing awesome keep it up!! It could be that you're losing inches not pounds right now. its not all about the scale pay attention to how your clothes are fitting too! Let me know if you need any help. I got awesome pointers!0 -

Honestly I would try lowering how much sodium intake you have. I would also make sure you eat if not all at least some of your exercise calories back.0

I guess I will go back to starving myself and up my exercise to 5 hours a day.

OK..... im fkn pissed, discouraged, homicidal...
I have been doing everything right! I am eating well, I am exercising, I am walking away from all the goodies my co-workers bring in every fkn day!! I get my daughter the fast food crap she wants and watch her eat it while I slobber all over myself wanting just a fkn bite!!
I weighed myself this morning and nada, zip, zilch, fkn nothing!!!!!
I read several posts about TDEE on here- I had no fkn clue what it was so I decided to try it. Obviously no help!!! I guess I will go back to starving myself and up my exercise to 5 hours a day.
This is why every other time I have tried to lose weight I end up giving up!!!!! Its fkn bull****- I feel like going out right now and finding the biggest, greasiest burger and inhaling it. BUT I wont because I dont know why really maybe cuz that would just send me over the FUKN edge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How long did you try the TDEE-a percentage method? Have you been working out, if so what are the workouts you are doing? Coming to the forums and freaking out is not the answer to your problem. Maybe before flying off the handle you should explain length of time you have tried certain methods and how you were measuring your success or failure...scale, measurements, body fat %? No one can offer any time of good advice without any information.0 -
I just nearly inhaled my water, cheers for that.
Anyway, I agree with the people mentioning sodium intake. Eating lots of salt will make it look like you gained when you may have actually lost.0 -
I guess I will go back to starving myself and up my exercise to 5 hours a day.
My GOD, he was a handsome man!
Oh yeah, so I don't get flamed for "hi-jacking" a thread, since it may well be possible lately. :grumble: OP, keep doing what you're doing. Takes time. Do NOT starve yourself...EAT!0 -
