    When i was in boarding school a girl showed me her year book from her time at a public high school. German kid's last name, printed in the textbook, was literally the f-word. I shiz you not!

    I did not believe him until I saw his yearbook. It's true.

    The father of a friend of mine in high school was named after a famous poet and the kids were: Storie, Novyl, Sonnet, and Rhule (pronounced Rule)

    I love those names!!

    At work some years ago, I was on intake for people needing developmental services. Two children I still remember:

    Chevy Bonnet (would she have been conceived on one???)
    Anfone (pronounced an-fuh-nee, as in 'Anthony' pronounced by a Brit)

    Well....I teach high school and my last name is Ho.

    Also, my sister in law's name is Teresa....had some nice English speaker not helped out my inlaws, her name would have been Theresa Ho...or, 'There's a Ho."

    My parents' names are D*ick and Jane. There's been lots of the old D*ick and Jane book-related gifts over the years. And no my name isn't Sally!

    These names are interesting only because they aren't common.
    my daughter's name is Alexi.
    My brother has 3 daughters. Their names all include his middle name.

    Well I know a Dr. named Gross as well as know a cop named Gross. I can only imagine what they had to put up with growing up and probably still to this day. I have a friend who's last name is Payne. I know he's heard it all too.

    We had a dog, but he wasn't Spot thank goodness.

    My mom is very self-conscious about calling out my dad's name in public--makes sure to call him "Richard" if she has to yell out his name in public!

    In my school in India there were names like Harsh, Sukdeep, Screwvalla, Dixit, Jugdeep, Manmeet.

    Ofcourse i didnt really think it was strange since in Hindi those names have their own meaning....but when i came here to the States...omg did i get edumacated!!

    I just found this thread and have been laughing so hard! I thought I'd bump it in case anyone else missed it!

    I don't have anything funny, just unusual:
    1. I had an aunt whose married name was Mary Christmas.
    2. In my family tree there are people named California and Arkansas.
    3. I went to school with a girl named Grace Lord. Good thing is wasn't Mercy Lord.
    4. My kid's dentist used to be Dr. Spitz.

    The worst I've ever heard of was a little girl whose leagal name was "Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii". True story. A judge had to get involved because she was so embarrased about it.
