1600 - with exercise that can go as high as 2400, which is a really good reason to work my socks off at the gym

When I first started I tried 1200 and was trying to 'beat' that score by going too far under like life is a videogame.

Now I am at 1300 and I am eating at lot of exercise calories and doing better.
Love the video game reference...me too!!!

    Currently at 1400 cals

1970 - Please tell me ladies you you go on 1000-1300 calories a day. That blows my mind. I personally would have to skip an entire meal to be at those numbers.

I'd have to skip more than a meal to get under 2000.

It's all about WHAT foods you choose :p

I'm at about 1300, but I vary my calories a bit. I'm not dedicated enough to follow a "calorie cycling" schedule, but I mix it up and range between 1200 and 1400. I eat lots and lots of veggies and fruit. I'm also not a big meat eater, which helps keep my calories lower as well.

Right now, 1330 for a 1 pound weight loss each week. It'd be 1200 if I wanted to aim for more.

I'm at 1200 calories to lose 2 lbs a week. Of course it goes up if I exercise. My goal is to exercise for an hour 5 days a week.

I'm so confused, though.... why do some folks have such high calorie amounts?? Are y'all living in the gym or something?? Seriously, I don't get it. But it's ok, I'll just assume MFP knows what they're doing and do what it tells me. :drinker:

1600 before exercise...beginning to wonder if it's time for a review as I'm now in the 'healthy range'...going to have to start crunching numbers again...

The people with higher counts probably don't have their goals set to lose as much per week, or have very active jobs, or are quite large to begin with (esp the men!)

    I'm on 1780 to lose 0.5lb/week
If I make it 1lb/week it goes down to 1530
If I make it 2lb/week it goes down to 1200.

I don't think 1200 is sustainable for me, so I'd rather have a slower weight loss but have it be comfortable, not a struggle every day, and have it take longer, than unsucessfully trying to lose 2lb/week for a month and lose nothing, when i could have lost 2lb by being easier on myself.

    Thanks for the explanation. =)
