April's Challenge "No snacking after dinner"

If munching all evening bothers you, join us in the following challenge: either pick a cut-off time or just take dinner as the last meal of the day. Ideally that would be about 2/3 hours before going to bed. After that no more calories are allowed  - only tea and water! :drinker:

Important note: you can join this at any time during the month. There's not such thing as "too late".

We'll keep track of the number of consecutive nights we were successful and also keep a score: Me vs. Late snacks.

I'd encourage daily posting, even if it's only one line - it's good for accountability and also to give each other tips or suggest where/why we might fail. However, a weekly update is just as good. Another option is to update your signature with your current numbers.

Good luck and hope to get together a team as competitive and supportive as last month :flowerforyou:.

Yay! It sounds good! This month is going to be VERY difficult for me since my husband & I will be moving (either on May 1st or April 17th) and we're out of the house before 6am & not home until after 9pm... I would like to have a cutoff time... Since I've pretty much been able to fall asleep by 11pm, I'm going to put a cutoff at 9pm.

Hello, everyone! I have not been here for a little while but I have been good. I had my dinner late on March 27th + desserd but it was our wedding anniversary. I did not weigh myself until this morning. I was afraid! But today I was the same weight as on Sat morning. Hooorray! :smokin:

Hi again. Just wanted to start by posting that I tried not to eat after 9pm tonight... My husband picked me up after he got out of class & we were both STARVING. We decided that instead of stopping at Taco Bell, we would go home & make something. I made some pasta & sauce & we were finished by 9:15 so I don't think that's too bad! Hope you ladies had a great day!

smanning2007, awesome start! You can already count last night, too :flowerforyou:
aisser, you can do this! Welcome.

lullabelle, teetee and rosemary, I think it would be fair if you ladies would increment the numbers you've got already.

I have a blackout, I don't remember if last night I stopped at 9 or a bit after . Tonight, my cut-off won't be 9, but dinner (whenever that is ready), provided I stay within my calories.

Let's do this! (btw, you can already think of a backup plan for Easter, if you think you might have guests for dinner , say - don't stress over it, make a reasonable plan)

I am in for April. This week has been good so far with the late night snackin, but tomorrow night I go back to work which is where my late night snackin problems will intensify.

Thanks to all of you MFPers for helping me not gain weight on my vacation. You all are awesome :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Tonight my plan is more water since I'm always short there and 2 squares of Lindt 72% cocao dark chocolate (60 cals).

    Hi dewdrop!
I'm in for April. I made it trhough 27 days in March and then blew it by losing track of time and haven't been able to get back on track. I'm going to try again, but Easter week-end is going to be very challenging.
My cut-off time remains at 9:30 p.m. except for evenings out/special occasions when I can go as late as 11;30 pm.

Good luck to all and:drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

1st of April went according to plan and tonight I was strong. I'm confident I can do this!
Zaza, 27 is the record! :flowerforyou: What an inspiration!
rosemary, you had the power in you, just had to discover it - well done!
aisser, way to go, girl! :drinker:
  • Hi! I am up for this April Challenge. I will need a cut off time of 7:30 for this first month. I like the idea of being able to keep track of the consecutive days we make it.

I was good for April 1st and 2nd, but the 3rd is not going real well. It's 3:40am and I've eaten more than half my days calories. :embarassed: Yes, I'm at work. Have to stop at the gym on the way home because I've got about 20 more hours to go in this day. We had a pitch in for one of the girls going on maternity leave. I won't be eating after I get off work so maybe I can still salvage the day.

    I'm sure you can!

As for me so far 2 out of 2. Tonight we are going to the movies at 5 pm. Going to have small unbuttered popcorn there. Does it count as snack after dinner or not?:embarassed:

No, it doesn't, at least for the following reasons:

    - it's weekend, you can allow yourself exceptions when you go out
    - it's SMALL and UNbutterer - what more can we ask for?
    - it's pre-planned, so it's not like you're going to eat 5 bags, once you've started

What movie is it? Enjoy! :flowerforyou:

Thanks sunnysashka, I WAS able to salvage the day. After getting off work I shopped for groceries, bought flowers to plant and went to the gym. Finally made it home at noon and was starving. Had to have 1/4th of a peanut butter sandwich and 5 green olives before going to bed. After getting up at 6:30 pm I mowed the lawn, had supper and came in under my days calories. Amazing I was sure I'd be a goner. So today is 3 for April.:drinker:

Finally found you :) Had to go through Rosemary.

Okay, well I started great...and then crashed and burned. But I'm back on the horse. My goal for April is to get 20 out of 30 days of success. Sucks that I already have two failures, but I am resolved to get tonight under my belt and start the week off right.

Right now I am 1/3. Cutoff for tonight is 7:30 HARD!!! No exceptions. Stop making excuses for myself. I can tell a difference in the morning with how sluggish I am for work when I eat late. I know better. So forward I go!!!

What movie is it? Enjoy! :flowerforyou:

It was "Clash of titans" Unless you are keen in special effects, don't go!

After movie we went for a couple of drinks. We did not eat anything, but I had 2 shots of Beylis! That is one drink I can't resist! And my hubby knew that! I felt so guilty, so when I got up at 5 am (my baby woke me), after I put my son back to sleep, I jumped on the climber and did 45 minutes (600 cal are gone)

Amazing I was sure I'd be a goner. So today is 3 for April.

    Awesome!:flowerforyou: That is amazing!

Aisser - I don't think you lost last night! It was watermelon, a healthy thing. Plus it was over 2hrs before bed. Am I right Dew?

Another question is - since I get home from church about 1:00 pm have a lateish lunch then go straight to bed for a nap since I work every Sun nite, should I not count Sundays? It's not 2 hrs of food before bed? And that's the only time I go to bed on Sunday.

Happy Easter Everyone! Hope your day was great! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

It's just a nap. And a special occasion, which you plan in advance. So I'd say, make it your exception day - but don't stuff yourself .

Happy Easter! Yes, my day is lovely  - wishing you back the same.

Oh, and I scored last night .

I would love to do this! I have made a rule no eating past seven for myself! I did great for three weeks and then last night i failed! I had some chips (doh!) at 9PM. But i still counted them and didn't go over my calories. So today is a new day! me-1 eating-0!

Okay, so I can either say that it is 3/4 failures, or 1/4 successes. Time to focus and get my butt in gear. Isn't that what Mondays are for?

    Tonight's cutoff: 7:30!!!!!!!

It's the successes that count! Those 3 days will be lost in the DUST :flowerforyou:
  • Hey Dewdrop and Lullabellewoo and all of the other regulars. I am back!! Tonight I will not snack! I will make my dinner my last meal! XxX

    Good morning-
As lovely as Easter was and having the kids home, I have to get back on track now big time. So far, April has been a bust for this challenge. However, I am not deterred. I went 27 days in a row last month. I can do it again. Tonight will be my new Day 1.
    Good luck to everyone!

Callie and Betsy, welcome :flowerforyou:. I go by the rule "the more, the merrier", so jump on!
No food after dinner sounds right to me.

Lulablle, you're one day ahead of Zaza . Btw, Zaza, welcome back and nice to hear you had a lovely time on Easter, together with your sons. I wonder where teetee is...

I ate a bit past 9 last night, but decided to have just an apple and this time I stuck with it . So I'll keep on counting.

Thanks Callie. Avoiding nighttime snacking is what keeps me from gaining weight so I really try to stick to the challenge. I can't beat my 27 night record from last month, but I can still try to get the rest of April.
    Good luck to everyone.
