For those who eat cereal in the morning. I am looking for one that tastes good, high in fiber, low in calories. What do you

Jspot46,
I used to eat cereal, (when I was 10lbs heavier) and I always thought Kashi was decent..as long as you add some fruit to it, like berries and 1/4 of a banana. Also, bran chex were good too! I have to say though, because of the spike in your blood sugar that processed cereal does cause, I would be more for the old-fashioned oats with fruit and maybe an egg on the side to incorporate protein. Protein and fiber are your best friends to beat the battle of the bulge!! Hope this helps and good luck!!0 -
I have multi-grain Cheerios with 1/2 a cup skim milk and 1/2 a cup of blueberries every morning-delicious! The Cheerios are 120 calories for 1 cup and the whole breakfast is just 206 calories. A quick and easy breakfast with no cooking involved! I don't like oatmeal enough to have it everyday and I can't imagine eating oatmeal in the summer when it's hot (yuck) so cold cereal works best for me all year round. :happy:0

i have kellogs mini-max if I want something sweet or an oaty cereal like porridge or oatibix. Today I tried All-bran chocolate clusters for a treat - they were yummy! Always weigh your cereal though, 40g is a lot less than you expect (or want!!)0

Cheerios with strawberries or bananas.0

I think Cheerios is probably your best bet for a healthy cold cereal - and you can't go wrong with good old fashioned oatmeal - not the instant packets!!0

captain crunch, fruity pepples, honeycomb.
lolz, I only dream of eating these ones :P0 -
Oatmeal, Kashi cinnamon harvest shredded wheat, bran flakes.0

I buy plain old oat bran from the bulk section at Whole Foods. It's 231 calories a cup but I use less than that, and it cooks almost instantly when you add hot water. I season it with a little cinnamon.
I like steel-cut oats but they take longer to cook.0 -
How about this wonderful alternative to cereal?
In a cereal bowl place:
1 apple (I like green apples myself) cut into bite sized pieces
1/2-1 banana sliced
1/8 c. raisins
1/4 c. crushed almonds
dash of cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
drizzle of maple syrup
almond milk0 -
weetabix or oatibix0
-
I like special K cinnamon pecan with silk almond milk ... soooooo good!0
-
cherrios, captain crunch, fruity pepples, honeycomb.
And Lucky Charms.
You can't forget Lucky Charms.0 -
Kashi Go Lean or Good Friends. Cascadian Farms Hearty Morning Fiber. I don't like presweetened cereals in the morning and cereals without sugar added are hard to find.0
-
I used to really like Special K Yogurt and Berries one.0
-
I usually eat oatmeal. It's cheaper too.0

I do about half and half Natures Path Smart Bran (found in the organic section of the grocery store) and Kashi Go Lean Cinnamon Crisp, plus about a half a cup of blueberries or strawberries. Do measure the cereal--the Kashi is fairly caloric (but also high in protein). To further add protein, I mix vanilla protein powder with the soy milk that I use on the cereal.0

Porridge or Weetabix both with banana for me ... couldn't live without it0

Golden Grahams!0

I really like Kashi (toasted berry crumble is my favorite). I mix it with yogurt....very yummy way to start the day!0

90 cals per serving, 5g fiber, 1g fat, 190mg sodium, 5g sugar, 2g protein, 25% vit c
And if that isn't a good enough reason for you, Barbara’s supports the project which aims to help restore puffins to their historic resting ground off the coast of Maine.0 -
cheerios or steel-cut oats.0

I don't allow cereal in my plan that much it's too easy to eat too large portions, I have wheatabix once week, sometimes some plain uncooked oats with skim milk. If I want to cheat I have Trix -- you can smell the sugar fumes - not so bad with a small serving and I find I can avoid taking seconds.0
-
Plain oatmeal (no packets) or cherrios. I can't eat wheat.0
-
Total brand cereal, half a banana, skim milk!0
-
I like Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds and use skim milk.
3/4 a cup with 1/2 cup milk is one serving although some mornings if I'm really hungry, I will double the cereal serving to 1 1/2 cups with still the 1/2 cup milk.
The cereal is 130 calories per serving and the milk is 40 calories for 1/2 cup, so 1 serving would total 170 or 2 servings as I described totals 300.
I have water for my drink so no extra calories there.0 -
Eats eggs0

Kashi toasted Berry Crumble or Kashi Backberry Hills. Toasted Berry Crumble has as much protein as an egg. Both are high in fiber, low in calories, and delicious in taste0
-
Not real low in calories but Bear Naked(cereal) is awesome.0
