    Morning all,

Have been sewing this am - Tom's old beavers badges, centenary scarf and other badges onto his blanket, and we have been for a walk to Tesco (what a shock  ). Feel all quezzy at the mo, I know that the UK has issued a health warning advising people with breathing difficulties to stay indoors (volcanic ash cloud over us!), but I didn't think that it would effect me!!

Marla - I hope that Aaron is ok. This has never appealed to me - yogurt/berry/granola, I can't do berries and yoghurt urgh!!!!!!!!!

Everyone else, hope that you have a good weekend

 Tanya that volcano is really messing with travel plans. A bunch of teachers from my area were scheduled to go to Ireland yesterday. I don't know if they took off or not from JFK. My friend has lung problems I wonder how she will make out if they get to go. Really scarry....................the news reports from iceland make it sound as though another blast could happen anytime. Makes you realize that even with all the high tech stuff..........mother nature is really in charge......Have a great weekend every one. Richie

I've been thinking about you Tanya. Hope you are ok. If this happened a few weeks ago, I would have had sent 24 high school Senior girls to your house until they opened Heathrow again:wink: I'm sure your boys would've loved that. It would give you the break you need....though you would have other headaches with cackling girls:laugh:

Great run this morning. I really should keep this up and aim for a distance run. I just can't mentally put myself there...yet

Looks like it's going to be a nice day in this neck of the woods. Have family coming in to see Patrick (ds12) show. He's in Fame. He's the lead dancer. It's a local theatre company for -6-12th graders who have professional aspirations (don't they all:bigsmile: ) Patrick has been taking ballet for 5 years now. He's pretty good at it but doesn't thing he wants to professionally be a ballet dancer (though the perks of lifting those beautiful women entice him  ) whatareyagonnado? right Marla?

Going to try and have a good eating day!.........NO I AM GOING TO HAVE A GOOD EATING DAY!!

Happy Saturday. Busy weekend here. Last night was the final hockey game of the season. Today DH is working. Kiddos and I are heading to the bank and for groceries. Tomorrow is a semi-pro baseball game. T earned a free ticket for reading. We bought extra tickets for $5 each. Game at 1. DH is looking a job before hand.

Andrew and Beth - sorry about the snow. What a nasty four letter word that is. We've cooled off here. We're back to normal temps instead of 15-20 above normal. But, it is only April and we've had snow this time of year before too. Need to remember to count our blessings.

    Have a great weekend!

I was gonna pick on him for it-- glad you did it, instead--

Aaron tore his soleus muscle in his calf. Okay, show of hands-- who knew we had a soleus muscle?

I'm sitting there as the doctor is explaining this, that and the other thing. And as I've mentioned in this forum before, my grasp of medical terminology is second to everybody-- including the dog. Talk medical to me and my eyes glaze over.

Thank God Aaron was paying attention--

Anyway-- the kid tore that muscle, on crutches, and will miss at least this week's golf tournaments-- his coach will have a fit. Especially since the injury occurred during "open gym basketball" at the high school, that his basketball coach has encouraged him to come to since he's being groomed for varsity

In hindsight, as parents, we should have wisely stepped in and told Aaron to concentrate on one sport at a time, since an injury in his off-season sport will prevent his seasonal sport. Stupid of us. Aaron is the center of the golf team this year, as a freshman-- his team will not at all be pleased.

    But? Whaddyagonnado?

Heading to type-- wayyyy behind today.

Soooooo-- got a letter from the doctor today-- seems my thyroid function is normal-- yeah, okay. So, explain, doctor, why I gained a pound in a 4 day, low sodium, veggie juice fast? And why my back is hanging over the back of my jeans from puffiness?

Up yours, medical profession-- you all suck.

Whatever-- aholes-- I'll still be researching. Hypothyroid is wayyyyyy under diagnosed from what I'm learning.

And until then, sticking to my 1200 calories--

    Later!

Hey gang, checking in before I head off to dream land. Cracked the whip this AM, got the kids all moving to help, the house all cleaned, the beds all changed, the grass all mowed- before 11:30. Hubs had to go in to work to meet a General that was coming and I was slave driver here at home. The beauty of the kids getting older- they can do stuff. Granted, sometimes it's a full time job to keep 4 of them going and 'directing traffic' but it gets done and I don't have to do it all.

Hubs got home, we ran some errands and putzed around on a few last minute deck things. I will have to post some pics soon. I even put the furniture on it today.

Down to one kid at home, DH, DS and I are getting up and going mountain biking in the AM. Good thing. I gotta get cracking the whip at myself with my eating. I ate like crap today. I think I said yesterday that tomorrow is a new day. I didn't mean a new day to eat more garbage! Gotta love this battle, huh?

Evening team-- crazy day. Ended on a lovely note with a surly 19 year old. Really getting tired of the lad brooding about everything. Joy is a choice, I told him again this day. The young man is back home around the family he said he couldn't live without-- and just complains about everything-- real pain in the patootie.

Some of the kids are so worried about him getting kicked out that they tolerate all of his crap. Others hope he'll get kicked out, so try to get under his skin. I've tried counseling the nutwad, but he chooses to cry in his beer.

His latest lament is the fact that we canceled our cable months ago. Plus, his father tonight was using the laptop so he couldn't access his beloved sports via the 'net like usual. This made David unhappy.

Like Bruce Banner (aka The Incredible Hulk)-- you wouldn't like him when he's angry. Sad thing is, I don't like him much these days when he ISN'T angry. He's a pain in the *kitten*. We have enough trouble in our family without this spoiled brat thinking he's the sun and the rest of the world revolves around him. Enough already, punk!

So, what'd I do tonight? Set out to push his buttons-- as only I can. I can get very comically, arrogant and bratty-- pushed every last button he had until he wanted to storm out of the house-- then forbade him to go anywhere, reminding him that he'd asked us back in August to buy his car from him, and pay his remaining tuition balance-- which we did. The car is ours, putz.

Told him unless and until he learns to control himself, like everybody else has to, and stop acting like a horse's *kitten*-- he's staying put. And then to make matters worse, I told him he couldn't have the laptop.

Furthermore, I said-- I'll continue to use every means necessary, fair or unfair, to trip him up-- he'll either shape up, as they say, or ship the hell out. He's more work than all my junior crew combined-- enough already! Either be a productive, cheerful (or at least non-surly) member of this family that you died to get back home to, or beat it.

Pant pant pant-- okay-- heading to type.

Hello from an ash covered UK - I haven't seen any but apparently its falling!! Health warning issued can be dangerous for children and the elderly - please do not close the schools!! 2.5 weeks off is enough already!!!

Had an ok day yesterday was really silly on the eating and drinking but only just went over my calories, and am determined to be good today. I have done my exercises (but may do more later depending on how I feel), lunch is cooking, washing is done and drying and I am looking around for what needs doing next - ordinarily I would be in the garden with the boys as its nice weather here, but ash etc has put a stop to that!! Thank you all for your well wishes yesterday, I got better after the walk and even managed to mow the grass (with some help from my 12 year old)

Marla - I am sorry that aaron has pulled ??? muscle, and that your eldest son is playing up but I love how you have dealt with it.... Go Marla, Go Marla

Lori - I try to do that as well (get the boys to help with the chores) but trying to get a 2 and 5 year old to help is entertaining and then the older 2 get the hump!! Enjoy your bike ride today.

Donna - glad that your son's show is going well and he sounds very into his drama - good for him. I think that JOhn (5 year old) would of been over the moon if we had had a house full of 18year old girls - he already likes his women older and has declared that he is marrying the 18 year old babysitter!!

Jeannie - hello, do what you can and keep smiling

Tamara - I feel tired just reading what you have done - well done

Andrew and Beth - snow again, we were forcast a cold patch for this week with more snow for scotland, but this seems to have taken a back seat in the reporting now that the ash is here!

Everyone else - hello and hope that you are having a good weekend

good morning black team! the snow is gone already thank goodness, it was so weird to wake up to snow covering the ground in mid-april, especially since we had such a mild winter. usually the last little patches of snow are just melting away at this point, but this year it was gone by mid-march. Aiden started soccer yesterday. i was so glad, i just love watching him play. there were tons of people there and we were all stuck inside the field house at bowdoin college (which is where the soccer program is held). hopefully next weekend will be better weather so we can be outside, i have a feeling the playing fields have a lot more room. my sil and nephew are coming for a visit next weekend so i'm excited they get to see him play, too. andy laughs at me cause i keep saying how cute he is when he plays, but i just love it! he gets out there after the ball and does really well. yesterday he and a boy from his kindergarten class worked together to get a goal, then gave each other a high five. that boy just makes me smile. anyway, the weather is supposed to stink again today and andy's working, so i have to figure out what to do with the monkeys all day. this place really needs a good cleaning, but leaving them alone together while i clean usually doesn't work out too well. i'm hoping the weather gets better tomorrow and for the rest of the week because the kids are on spring break and the Y has no child watch this week, so it's either going for walks with the kids, or trying to do a workout video while they kill each other. have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

Stateliner 5k this morning, my friends, to support my kids' high school-- as of last night, didn't think we were going to run. Didn't want to spend the $40 for hubs and I to run. We can run for free at home-- ya know?

But, hubs woke up this morning saying, in effect, the Stateliner 5k is the first 5k we'd ever run last year, and if no other race all year, we have to run this one. So glad we did!

Hubs ended up winning 4 tickets to a local hands-on science center in a raffle-- so, we got our money back right there, and my junior crew and I will end up having a great field trip next week.

    Go figure--

Time was 49 seconds slower than last year-- kinda annoying. Ten pounds lighter and a minute slower? Fudgesicles.

But considering I'm running on sausage toes, and a foot that looks like something out of The Flintstones, I'll take it.

Loved the run this morning-- simply glorious.

    Have a great day, team!

Hey gang. Did a 2 mile run with my poochie this AM. Managed to piss of DH and he left without saying goodbye. :ohwell: Hit the gym for 30 minutes of weights. Got called 'sugar' by a youngster. (Still laughing inside about that one, however I think 'kitten' still takes the cake.) Went to DS Honor's Assembly. Daily Wally World run complete. Somehow it's noon already.

Throwing down some food. Gonna run through the house and make it look like I cleaned, I've got an hour, that's it. Going back to pick up youngest from school, drop off a few things to his class and hit the strawberry farm for more fresh, yummy, delicious berries.

I'm wondering how many times a day I can eat vanilla yogurt, fresh strawberries and granola. Does 4 or 5 seem excessive? LOL. The most I ate it was 3 times one day, but truly, I could eat it for every meal and snack and never get tired of it. It's tasty. Nom, nom!

Hubs just called, guess he's not mad anymore. My hour is now 40 minutes. Oh well, what's a clean house anyway?

I have been eating my yogurt/berry/granola at least twice a day for the last couple weeks...I love the stuff!

Me too-- 'cept the frozen berries which don't last very long once thawed in the fridge-- so, I just like the yogurt and crunchies.

Bought a 24 pack of SlimFast today-- something's gonna jumpstart this #$@! metabolism-- I swear!

I lost my first 11 pounds this way-- faithful, timely snacks-- maybe I can lose my last 11 (or so)

Had a nice date night with the hubs-- busy day-- tired.

Have to take Aaron to the hospital in the morning-- ripped something or other in the calf. Always something--

    Need to type-- later.

Marla I bought my 6 pack slim "crap" today. MAyb it will do its magic LOL

Proud Mommy moment, went to my daughters cello recital tonight. She is only 6 and has really come a long way since August '09. Maybe she'll grow up to be like Yoyo Mah (sp?) A mother can only dream...sigh

Oooooooh-- I love the cello. That's so cool, Jan-- and the only thing I know about Yoyo Ma is what I've seen either on Mister Rogers or Sesame Street over the years-- don't be hatin', my friends-- I'm just THAT sophisticated, dontchaknow.

Had a great exercise week-- 3 days of strength training, 4 days of cardio--

Good on eating-- one sweet today, so I have to change the ticker. Willingly surrendered to the "I'll show you, I'll eat a donut-- so there," anger today-- childish, for sure-- it is what it is right now-- dammit.

Either way-- victories outweigh defeats this week-- all in all, not bad.

Heading to type-- later, my peeps.

Catching up with everybody. Sounds like my friends had good weekends!

We headed out on a bike ride today. Got in about 9 miles on the trails. It still scares the beejeebers outta me, but I tried not to think about it. I only almost crashed 3 or 4 times. LOL. Handlebars don't like hitting trees, neither do pedals, or feet and thick deep sand will throw your bike quickly. All in all, usually when I was on a collision course for disaster, I somehow pulled it back together. My new 'women friendly' bike seat makes a HUGE difference. My girly parts are much happier.

I woke up feeling pudgy as all get out. Got on the scale, confirmed an extra 4 pounds. Took the bike ride, worked a little in the yard, had to to go to a get together for DH's work. Put on a new pair of my Levi's boyfriend capris. Felt pretty darn cute. Funny how your views of yourself can change from morning to night. I still feel pudgy, but nothing a good week of eating and working out can't cure.

I'm done. Tired and ready to crawl in bed and call it a day!

okay-- so maybe not so great on eating today-- finally tallied it all up, after all my nibbling, so I could OWN it-- 500 calories over today.

    Damn.

But, in perspective, it could be worse. I'm really letting the thyroid crap get in my head-- hell, if I'm gaining slow and steady with 1400 calories on average daily-- why the heck not eat and enjoy-- not good.

Glad I tallied it all up--

    Cut the crap, Marla--

Well, I updated my weight and ticker-- man, this gets old-- 4 pounds up, 4 pounds down-- but I figured I'd try again with the new ticker showing the final count down-- replete with boxer. (can't really see him, but I like the eyes)

Hope everybody's having a good day-- I'm having a productive day-- so, need to scoot!
