Tanya- any of us with kids can relate to the grumbling. I swear it's all they do. I have gotten quite good at tuning it out.

Marla- don't let it get in your head- the thyroid stuff, the bloating, the water weight, the last ten, any of it. Fighting for so long for the last 10 pounds can mess with your head big time. The up and down.... well, I think it's the way our bodies work. We hate it, but we cant' really expect to be exactly the same day in and day out. As long as when you go up 4 you come back down 4, it works out in the end. Remember not to drive yourself crazy over the numbers on a daily basis. Look at the long haul. You have lost and kept it off. Win!

I get discouraged with the 'LAST TEN' sometimes still, but I try not to. I was 152 at Wednesday's weigh in, 156 yesterday, 154 today....... It's all over the place, it's not just Sponge Marla, it's all of us. I really want to get below 150 and stay there, 150 is the highest I can be and still be considered in the normal weight range, so I'm still 'overweight' most of the time. :grumble: I was asking myself this morning what is most important to me- having a flatter tummy or eating sweets. I guess I need to make my decision and live with A) a flatter tummy and no treats or B) a pudgy tummy and sweets in my life. The question is, what do I want the most? Can't have it both ways.

Got up, ran 2 miles with the dog, hit the gym, did about 30 minutes of chest/back/shoulders/bi/tri supersets. I was MOVING. Felt good. Then jumped on the stepper for 30 minutes. Good workout, I can feel good about it. Eating my morning snack for lunch. Had a few errands to run. (AKA: Had to make my rounds for more supply stuff for my outdoor paradise......)

I'm about to head outside and finish up the landscape lighting and sprinkler stuff, plant a few more palms and the hibiscus tree I just bought. I can't believe it's almost noon already. Where does the morning go?

Hubs and I splurged (once you are this far in, what's a little more?) on a two person hammock this weekend. It's under our one shade structure by the pool. When the breeze is blowing, it's heaven. We plopped down in it for a few minutes yesterday and he was laughing at me. I couldnt' keep my eyes open! I was dozing off and could have totally gotten in an awesome nap, but we had to get ready for his work thing.

Alright my friends, as much as I could keep on going, it's time to do some stuff.

Some of them aren't as easy to tune out-- take my eldest, for example-- sheesh--

Today's rant is an oldie, but a goodie--

Little history-- at his request, he texted me last summer and asked, and I quote, "Can you and dad please buy my car from me, and pay the balance of my tuition due?" So, yes, we did.

When he'd been excommunicated around Christmas, we told him we'd sell him back the car for a buck, but that he had to provide proof of insurance first, or the car stayed put. Obviously, the lad couldn't do it. So the car remained ours.

When he moved back in recently we told him that Sarah has been using "his" car for work, and that the deal to sell him the car remains, but will only be put in his name when he can afford to register and insure it. Which he can't. So the car remains ours. We told him that he needs to work with us and "share" the car with Sarah until such time that A) she can buy her own car or B) he can buy his back from us and then dictate who uses it when.

Have you followed this so far? Good.

So, today, for the I-don't-even-know-how-many-times now-- the boy awakes to find that Sarah has taken "his" car and pitches a hissy fit. And we have the same reminder discussion detailing all the above facts-- sighhhhhh. How old.

    I don't need this crap.....ya know?

Hopefully his father will get involved and straighten this out-- I'm conveniently used as a liaison between the two, both of whom can't stand the other-- fun stuff. I've punted on more than one occasion-- telling them I'm tired of being the middle man-- grrrrrr.

Anyway-- Tanya-- it doesn't necessarily get any easier the older they get. For some reason, my son can't seem to get his eyes off himself. I tell him we're all on the same team, trying to get through difficult times and he makes them worse-- he doesn't care. Complains about no cable, the car, life in general-- boo-hoos all the time about how rotten his life is.

None of the rest of the kids have the "ME complex" he seems to have, thank God-- fingers crossed that they never will.

Anyway-- that's my tale-- quick pop in-- need to scoot.

Thanks for the words of support.

My eldest is the king of 'I'm ill, I can't go to school', it happens at least once a week and usually on a pe day!! I have learnt to tune it out and say how sorry I am now get ready and go to school and if your ill the school will send you home.

The next boy (Thomas) at 10 is trying to be older than he is, and has the mouth to go with it. He is quite happy to open his mouth and throw the insults and barbed comments at people but can't take it back, and when I don't join in a battle on his side - I am hated and the worst mum going. This I find harder to take but try to explain my reasons for not backing him and open his eyes to his behaviour. He has recently started Sea Cadets as a junior cadet and I am hopeing that the discipline involved in this will eventually shape him.

My other 2 are meerly babies compared to their brothers but am hopeing to curb the older ones behaviour before the little ones start, although saying that we had a horrid bed time as it is offically a school night and so no dvd was put on tonight and so we had temper tantrums galore but eventually they gave in and hopefully will sleep though.

Other than the above, have had an alright day for eating and have done 5 minutes on the epliptical trainer and 25 minutes on the bike, so am now going to go and have a shower, and try to get an early night. So night night from the UK, xx

    Kati reporting for duty!

Sigh....my work computer is slower than that old guy who pulled out in front of 5 of us this morning then decided to drive 20mph. (Seriously. He did a big u turn on a major highway. 1 of the vehicles was a semi. He would have lost that battle.)

Had a night out last night. A friend had a "thirty-one" party. (Thirty-One is a company that sells bags, purses, totes, storage containers that you can have personalized, etc.) Anyway, it was a night out and it was fun.

Tonight I donate blood then it's off to help with homework, fix supper, give baths, etc.

Heading to the gym today. Did a repeat of Week 6, Day 2 yesterday. Today will be a rest day for sure. Tomorrow I'll tackle 2 1/4 miles straight. Can't wait.

I'm here and I'm sleeeeepy. My youngest had to be at school for a field trip today at 5:30 AM. Too early. I dropped him off, hit the gym, got the others to school, took the oldest for a doctor appointment, still need to do some clean up, make a cake (youngest B-day today), laundry, sweep out the car cause the trees I bought made a mess..... the list is endless and all I wanna do is nap. Really, just want to sleep in my hammock right now. Sooooo tempting.

All my joints are hurting today, but my fingers/wrists are really stiff. (Of course I thought of you Marla.) I have noticed the stiffness for about a few weeks, maybe a month, I was contributing it to all my outside work, holding a paintbrush, hammer, shovel, etc. However, I also realized last night, that's about how long it's been since I stopped all my supplements. I quit taking them because one of them was giving me terrible stomach cramps. I had been blaming the protein shake but realized it was the supplements. My goal was to add one back in at a time until I found the culprit. I just never started taking them again. I started back with glucosomine today. My poor aching overworked joints are not happy!

Isn't getting old fun? :grumble: :noway:

Oh my. I can't hang long or I will be toast. Gotta keep moving or the eyes aren't gonna stay open.

I'm back sitting down again. Bad news. I'm still sleepy as anything. I baked the cake, unloaded the car, swept out the car, activated Alex's cell phone for his present tonight, did dishes, some laundry and my eyes are burning they are so heavy and tired. I don't know if I can fight it much longer.

Yes, I said I bought my 10 year old a cell phone for his birthday. Shoot me. It goes against everything I believe in, everything I've preached about, all the 'you don't need a cell phone' speeches I've given. I caved. Truthfully, more for me than him. I've realized that while those stupid phones keep them connected to their friends, they also keep them connected to me when they are out and about. It's easy to text them and get info, their friends don't know they have a pain in the *kitten* mother who wants to know what's going on. *Ding-ding* That's the reason the boy is getting a cell phone. I won't even talk about how PO'ed I get when they are out somewhere and don't answer MY TEXTS. :noway: Do they forget who pays the bill for it?

Of course the other kids will whine about the injustices in the world and how they had to be (insert age here), the age keeps getting lower with each consecutive kid, (go figure) before they could get a phone. All I have to say is shut it. He takes a lot of crap for being the baby, occasionally there will be perks. Chalk this up to one of them.

I just did a prepaid plan for him, since we are at our limit on phones with Verizon (or any other company for that matter). 5 phones per contract is the limit. They told me we could split into 2 plans, 3 of us on each, sure..... it would only cost $100 more a month to go that route. No thanks. The cell phone industry is a huge frustration to me.... I won't get started.

So there you have it folks, I'm one of 'those parents' who caved and gave my baby a cell phone. *sigh* On a better note, he's gonna LOVE it!

*Makes sure Lori isn't close enough to hit her*

    Is the coast clear? Ha--

Speaking of cell phones-- sheesh-- my kids' school has a great cell phone policy, truly-- if the teacher sees it in your possession, they confiscate it and make your parents pick it up. Designed, obviously, to cut down on texting in class, cheating, et cetera. and making it a bit more serious since parents have to get involved.

However, as with any law, a little judgment and discretion is generally used by the law enforcement-- or at least should be. Consider the man speeding to the hospital with his wife in labor. If he gets pulled over, will the cop give him a ticket? I think not.

Now, granted-- this situation was not as dire, by any stretch-- but, my kid is on crutches for a torn muscle (as was previously discussed-- the ol' soleus muscle) and has a note from his doctor telling the teachers that he needs to leave each class 5 minutes early in order to get to the next class on time.

So, Aaron is sitting in science class yesterday. Phillipsburg High School was built in 1929. We're talking ollllllld building. And, none of the clocks work on the walls anymore. So, Aaron takes out his phone (that he just got back yesterday, after a 4 month punishment for lying) to look at the time. His teacher sees it and puts her hand out for it.

He explains about the (quite obvious) crutches and that he needed to know the time so he could know when to leave for the next class since the wall clock was broken.

The teacher simply holds her hand out farther.

Ya know-- aholes like you, Teach, with power trips are one of the reasons homeschooling is so popular.

So, in my inimitable way, I spanked the lady last night via e-mail-- told her I appreciate the need for rules, but believe common sense is needed in their enforcement. That if she suspected Aaron of texting, by all means take the phone-- however, the lad doesn't have texting on his phone, and explained the situation-- that he needed to know the time, the clock was broken.

I told her she was ridiculous-- told her if my kid is unruly, disruptive, disorderly, disrespectful or rude, have at him. God bless you-- knock him upside the head, and trust that whatever you do to him will pale to what he gets at home for causing trouble.

But, I'm trying to raise 9 kids lady-- I don't have time for this nonsense.

I cc'd the principal asking him to save me a trip and please give the phone back to Aaron-- who replied immediately that he'd be happy to-- go figure.

Teacher tried to defend herself by spouting the policy-- which I obviously already knew since I cited it in my e-mail to her-- and said that if a child needs to know the time, they need to just ask her, like another student did earlier in the same class. I told her I found it disturbing that she would prefer a child disrupt the class by asking a needless question instead of exercising some judgment.

I'm sure the teachers there love me-- I'm never terribly shy about expressing my opinions.

Okay-- coffee break over. Busy day-- had the Oregon Trail thingie-- all the wagon wheels broke during boiling-- we had wagon wheel mush marinara-- but, throw enough sauce and mozzarella on it and I can eat anything.

Finished some afternoon typing and I'm thinking of sneaking in a run while hubs is off coaching the high school golf team. Got a burst of wind in my sails yesterday running into a neighbor-- she's seriously considering training for a half marathon in September, too-- and didn't even know about the one close to our house in September--

She sent me her training schedule and I reallllllllllllllllly want to do it. I think I'm going to go ahead in June and send in my money-- after I get my birthday money from my folks-- 'cause once the money's shelled out, I'll train better.

But anyway-- here I sit, still rambling-- later, peeps--

    Still awake? Hello?

Well off to baseball..I total of 770 calories burned for this day...Friday is my next scheduled day with trainer wish me luck...I hope she dont kill me again..But if she does I will be getting what I paid for..

I just did some amazing math-- I finally put down on paper what I spend on average per month for groceries-- all items, hair care, cleaning, food, et cetera-- and I average $2.42 per person, per day--

thank God for my wonderful kids who don't complain about what they are served-- who know (well, all but the oldest) that it is a blessing to have food-- and whatever crap we have to eat sure beats starving.

Thanking God for the miracle of the loaves and fish He performs in our family every month--

    Wayyy tired-- heading to bed.

Well I did it. I signed up for 6 sessions with the trainer. Susan is very happy, I am very happy, my glutes however are not :grumble:

It was a wonderful workout. My eldest son Patrick has been going 7 days a week and working super hard. I feel like I should do the same.

Funny. My body shape has changed quite a bit. More fluff in the middle and not as much definition in arms and legs, but my measurements have not changed one iota.

So now when I read that working out or lifting weights doesnt change your loss, I will have real life proof that indeed, it does!

If I get a chance later I will post my January pic when working out 4 days a wk and lifting, vs my current pic so you all can see.

    Amazing folks, simply amazing.

Have a great day Black Team!:flowerforyou:

    Go for it Jeannie.

I have just started to use the weights in the leanto, focusing mainly on my arms/upper body, as I do alot of walking and use the bike/elliptical. Hopefully this will tone my arms etc, but will see what happens.

Have managed to walk to school this morning - 60minutes, and will be walking back later so another 30 minutes, and will do the bike and bits later.

Marla - I love your posts, and the idea of the pasta wheel  . As to your budget, can you tell me how!!

Everyone else, hello and hope that your weigh ins were ok today

Jeannie- so glad you are back at it lady.

Marla- that is pretty impressive. $2.42 a day per person? I have no idea what we spend on food. It sure feels like a lot. I know I spend about $300 every big grocery store trip- every week and a half or so- but that doesn't include my many stops a week to Walmart for other stuff we are out of. I used to track it when I did my finances in Quicken. I should start again, just so I know. Although, some things may be better off unknown....... What I do know is we go through food!

Tanya- keep using those weights, you will see a difference

Another busy morning, I thought it would be an early day at the gym, got there 30 minutes earlier than usual, only planned on cardio. Ended up doing an hour and a half of cardio, flapping my gums for the last 45 minutes with a friend, then standing around flapping them some more with some other friends. So much for getting my *kitten* in gear.

I really want to finish up stuff outside so I can take my finall pictures! The deck is basically done. The grill area/scrapped pergola project still needs some attention- I've got to sew a triangle shaped shade cloth for it now and put grommets in the corners. I have a few yard things to finish up, 4 trees to plant, some more low voltage light wire to run and then all the concrete around the pool needs powerwashed. It really should be done this weekend. (I swear I've said that before.....)

Guess it's not getting done with me sitting on me arsikins! Later friends!

    Good Afternoon my fellow friends..

So missed my wednesday morning workout..Plan on either going running here in a bit or going to gym for just a little work out 550 calories to burn,..Worked 530-1 today made alright money..nothing to be upset with..at least I have a job....right..

Saying a little prayer for my son I emailed his teacher he got his report card yesterday and he has a 83 in science which is a c..His had a science project..which I know ya;ll remember me raving about..worth 1300 points..he recieved 1408 points outta 1300..How in the heck do you get a c in the class when a project is worth that much and he recieved that many points on it??? Unles he failed EVERYTHING else in that class for the last 6 weeks.. Well his teacher emailed me back telling me that she printed a list of all his project and scores for the past 6 weeks...I just dont know...

Well off to watch biggest loser from last night..Hope ya'll have a great night!!
