So there's this guy at work that I'm really into. My roommate recently met him at a work function, and commented that she thinks it's reciprocal. I have no idea - I can never tell when a guy is flirting with me. I would normally just ask him if he wants to hang out, except in this case he is about fifteen years older than me, and I've no idea what's appropriate in this situation. Is that too big a gap? Will he just think I'm a stupid child? We were hanging out tonight at a function, and after a couple drinks he got a little touchy...but does that mean he likes me? I'm hopeless!
I'm 28 and he is 42. So guys, what would you think if a 28 year old hit on you?

I don't see any issue with that age difference. If he was getting touchy feely with you he's into you. Go get some!0

I would think she is going to love what 48 years of experience and learning will bring. :smokin:0

I was done after the first sentence. The age thing is completely immaterial. The work thing is what you really, really need to think about.0

Me too. HR might not like that and who would survive a cut in the end?0 -
Age only matters if the maturity levels of the two involved aren't compatible. I'm 38 and I know a girl that is 23. She and I are a lot alike in many ways and we get along very, very well. She attracts older men (I suspect because she is a very mature 23 year old) but she has attracted a lot of 40ish year old men that act like they are 14. So if you two are compatible, have things in common, can carry on a conversation, can hang out while enjoying each other's company... seems to me that things could work out between you.
And drinks or not, if dude is getting touchy feely with you, he's into you. Plain and simple. I'd say go for it.0 -
My friend (27) married a guy (45), so I hear all the concerns. Mostly, he's done everything she still wants to do or try, but he can't anymore (injuries, etc).0

I've always dated older guys It's all about the maturity level.0

I'm 28 and my boyfriend is 44. No regrets. When it's right, it's right
When we started dating, we were 23 and 39. .0 -
I would have to think really hard before I dated anyone I worked with......again.0

Yeah, the work thing is the bigger deal imo.0

I like older guys, they seem to have their stuff together and they usually want the same things as I do!!0

Thanks for the feedback! The work thing, while a concern because of potential awkwardness, is not an HR concern. Actually, he's technically in HR....0

So younger guys dont have their stuff together? hmmm, younger guys dont have goals? hmmm0 -
Im sure they do, its the ones that I've met that haven't figured out what they want yet. Again, I'm sure they have goals, and really awesome goals at that!!0
