1) get some whole wheat bread. preferably fresh.
2) get some peanut butter. preferably extra crunchy.
3) get some jelly. preferably grape or strawberry. preserves or jam will work too.
4) take a single slice of bread and place it on plate.
5) dip a tablespoon into the peanut butter twice, and each time spread the tablespoon of peanut butter on the slice of bread until completely covered.
6) take a second piece of bread and hold it in your hand.
7) dip a tablespoon into the jelly twice, and each time spread the tablespoon of jelly on the new slice of bread until completely covered.
8) put the piece of bread with jelly on it together with the piece of bread with peanut butter on it such that the jelly and peanut butter are in full contact with each other.
9) put away the peanut butter, jelly, and bread and clean up after yourself
10) enjoy.

now you may think this is a joke thread, but it's actually not. here's why...

2 slices of Roman Meal whole wheat bread = 160 cal, 2g fat, 6g protein.
    2 tbsp of Smucker's strawberry jelly = 100 cal
2 tbsp extra crunchy Jif peanut butter = 190 cal, 16g fat, 7g protein

that's 450 calories, 18g fat, and 13g protein in total.

i often see members on MFP complaining that they cannot possibly eat enough food to meet their calorie goals. the classic PB&J is a delicious way to increase your daily calories and help meet your daily fat and protein goals. fats and protein goals should be treated as daily minimums and the peanut butter itself is chock full of healthy fats and protein.

I agree with your recipe except you are putting the peanut butter on the wrong piece of bread.

I have pb and jelly in my drawer here at work, but no bread... I may just have that for a snack now. :-D

jelly doesn't have bits of fruit in it. jams/preserves do.

Ritz crackers can be substituted for bread in a pinch.

I use it often, but I prefer the peanut butter with oil separation.

Yes... and foodies can vary the recipe by toasting the bread first.
