I knew I should NOT have come here - my love affair with PB was getting overheated and I decided we needed a break, so I gave it up for Lent.

This thread has been like sneaking porn at work (or what I imagine that would be like, seeing as I've never done that).

Forget Easter dinner, I'm going to use every last calorie on PB.

i hate to be the one to tell you, but you're pregnant.

    Lmao!

Thanks, this is super helpful. I've never consider grape jelly, I've only tried strawberry. I will definitely try your recipe.

    Marmalade works well too.

    As does honey.

    butterknife that puppy!

plus... I open face the sammiches... twice the pbj, for half the bread.

    nom nom nom

I have pb and jelly in my drawer here at work, but no bread... I may just have that for a snack now. :-D

    Team open face PBJs! ::highfive::

That actually looks pretty tasty for a savoury snack

Peanut butter and hot sauce is excellent as well. Use a LOT of hot sauce. Peanut butter has massive capacity to mask the heat and flavor of the hot sauce.

I'll also hit the peanut butter and cheddar sandwich once in a while

I think we need to not forget about fluffernutter sandwiches.

    fluffernutterkep.jpg

MMMMM why did that picture cause me to quiver?

Also I take offense, OP, anyone who knows anything about PB&J sandwiches know it should only be prepared on Rainbow white bread. Your other argument I dont have a problem with but if you are going to come across as an expert in the making of PB&J and it's nutritional facts make sure you back up your claims with wikipedia reference and random blog sites we need studies and references. I'm not going to believe you sandbro science.

I always spread my jelly on top of my peanut butter so one piece of bread stays clean until I put it together.

BLASPHEMY! Peanut butter goes on one slice and jelly on the other. And then you bring them together, give them a little sexy time and eat it. Don't want to rush things by putting them together right away. It's a process.

You forgot to put bacon in your sandwich. You can't have a PB & J w/out bacon!

I have a Walden Farms PJ with Walden Farms Marshmallow dip (just like fluff) on a coco lite crisp (big chip - bigger then a piece of bread but only 16 calories each sold at Wholefoods or you can get Mr. Wheats crisps sold at Ocean State Job lot also 16 calories). Walden Farms Products have no calories or very little.

It all equals out to 32 calories a sandwich. I love the taste. If you haven't tried Walden Farms products you should. They sell them at Shoprite and Vistacost.com.

    1) get some whole wheat bread. preferably fresh.
    2) get some peanut butter. preferably extra crunchy.
    3) get some jelly. preferably grape or strawberry. preserves or jam will work too.
    4) take a single slice of bread and place it on plate.
    5) dip a tablespoon into the peanut butter twice, and each time spread the tablespoon of peanut butter on the slice of bread until completely covered.
    6) take a second piece of bread and hold it in your hand.
    7) dip a tablespoon into the jelly twice, and each time spread the tablespoon of jelly on the new slice of bread until completely covered.
    8) put the piece of bread with jelly on it together with the piece of bread with peanut butter on it such that the jelly and peanut butter are in full contact with each other.
    9) put away the peanut butter, jelly, and bread and clean up after yourself
    10) enjoy.

What happens if the bread slices come into contact on the plate?

Bad things. Very, very bad things.

this. condiment foreplay is VERY important to the jelly.

Mmmm, creamy peanut butter & homemade concord grape jam on toast.

I've tried it with honey too - that was pretty good.

You forgot one possible alternative to this recipe:

    Get two spoons.
Get a jar of PB and a jar of your preferred jam/jelly.
Alternately eat a spoonful of each until you are satisfied, or you just start/stop crying:D

now you may think this is a joke thread, but it's actually not. here's why...

2 slices of Roman Meal whole wheat bread = 160 cal, 2g fat, 6g protein.
    . . . .

They still make Roman Meal? Loved that bread when I was a kid. Haven't seen it in decades.

And blackberry jam is my choice for PB&Js.

I bought that marshmallow dip after a friend here told me about it. I had to throw it away. Even the peanut butter couldn't save it.
