I suppose if you look, R & B was lionked heavier to baggie jeans etc for guys, the whole "gangster thing" so with rock being the other end of the spectrum musically, its natural that the clothes are going to be that way as well, like All Saints clothes etc, Libertines, Killers, Strokes, all seem to wear quite tight fitting jeans.

I like the look, not built that way myself, but if you can get away with it, go for it

From a designer's perspective, these are 'slim fit' jeans. 'Skinny' jeans hug the calves and thighs. Those just look like fitted, 'slim fit' jeans. They are borderline too long, so he should take them to the tailor.
