You know, I think it would be pretty cool to have a bunch of us meet up in real life for a day or so to do some walking and motivating as well as getting some possble girly time in...something I've yet to have as you can see from my goals. Maybe sometime those of us that live fairly close could meet up for a lunch and walking date In time, of course.. maybe even do a Couch to 5k session0

I am Karen from Fort Worth, TX. I am married to a great guy... on here he is Whiskey5JDA. I have two step kids who live with their mother. I am a social worker at a children's mental health clinic. I am so blessed and thankful to God for giving me such a great life and showing me mercy when I've messed up!
I have been overweight my whole life, and when I weighed myself last September and saw 291.5, I said no way am I getting to 300! I lost about 6 pounds on my own in the beginning, then in January 2010 I found MFP and have lost almost 30 pounds total so far.
When I started this Labor Day Challenge, I put my goal as being 230 by the end. I haven't been doing so well, and I don't think I'm gonna make it. Since we started several weeks ago, I've only lost 4 pounds. I need to get focused again!
It's nice to meet you all!0 -
Good morning all! I hope everyone's day got off to a good start. Today is week 8 day 2 of the P90X program which means its all about CORE work. I completed the Core Synergistics dvd and boy did I get a great workout. I'm still struggling w/my Dreya Roll, Bow to boat and Plank/Cahunga moves but all in all I did a great job.
My name is Terri, I'm a 37 year old, single, female who currently resides in GA. I'm originally from Boston but have been in GA 9 years and absolutely love it. I do not have any children or animals so I live alone. Weight was never a huge issue. While I've been overweight at times in my life it was never anything that I couldn't get control of. It wasn't until 2006 that I decided to really try to live a healthier lifestyle.0 -
Hello!
My name is Gaby, I live in sunny Orange County, CA. (well not so sunny at the moment ) I was borned and raised in Ecuador but have now lived in the US for 12 years. I'm recently engaged to the most amazing, sexy, funny, intelligent man I've ever met. There's no rush on wedding plans, because he is in school full time right now, so we are enjoying living together which is a new development. We've been together for 5 years on and off. But this last run has been the best thing that has even happen to me and we've been solid together the last 2 1/2 years.
I grew up loving sports and being a tomboy, but once I moved here I gained weight b/c I stopped participating in sports. I'm 6'0 tall so I used to be great at basketball and now regret to continuing on that path when I moved to the US.
I've been getting back into working out. Started by gettng a trainer a while ago. And taking nutrition classes at the local college, I hope to soon complete a Fitness Nutrition Degree. But recently starting on my journey with BeachBody products and just a few weeks ago, decide to go ALL out and become and beachbody coach. I love motivating people and helping people find a healthy and happy path cause its possible for everyone.
Now i just want to live a healthy live and help others be healthy too!0 -
Well, hmmm.... I'm a little nervous about posting things about myself online...EEK!
I'm a 34 yo female... med school student... live in Colorado. Have a WONDERFUL son... about to file for divorce...
I am trying to get back to who I am...on the inside... a healthy strong athletic person. I've missed being that for about a decade. Looking to run my first 5K soon and maybe do some triathlons at the end of this summer.
: )0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm a 32 yo mom to an almost 2-year old daughter.... who is the coolest person I know. I've been married for 3 years (next month) to my bestie I work full-time overseeing several meditation studies at a local university.
Like Chocolickkyss, I'm a transplant in the South. Originally from RI, I've been in Atlanta for 7 years. I love it here...although the summer heat is a little overbearing!
This is the first time I have ever struggled with my weight. I gained a ton during my pregnancy, and then never lost it. Since March I have been FOCUSED on living a healthier life. We have been trying to eat clean as much as possible and doing something active every day. I feel like I'm getting my old self back. My husband has been doing this with me, and I think we make an awesome team.
It's nice to meet you all0 -

whoa- i'm finally back after what feels like a long time away. we spent a week in new york city & sang at carnegie hall. it was great. then dashed home, unpacked, laundered, repacked at home & at work, then left for our annual high school church choir tour. the kids were great & well behaved. they have a larger choir, a smaller auditioned choir & a 6 octave handbell choir. we went up through western washington, across the top of idaho, into montana, back down through yellowstone in wyoming and back across idaho to boise- where we live. and this week is our music, art and drama day camp for grade schoolers. can't wait until next week when things at work should settle down to a mild rush rather than a mad dash!
however- i am finally back to controlling the food i'm served & logging it. back to water aerobics today & getting enough water intake. and all that time sitting on a bus & bad foods and i am only up one pound. i'll take it.
personally, i live in boise, idaho with a spouse who has been good about my decision to lose weight this year. i have 3 children: older now at 25, 21, & 19. (wow, it is amazing that they've gotten that old- & so have i) the 21 & 19 yr old daughters came with me to new york, the 19 yr old was on the choir tour.0 -
Well, I weigh in officially tomorrow, but just for the heck of it, I weighed in this morning (unofficially) at 227.6, which means I went up .2lbs But hopefully it will be different tomorrow. My eating habits haven't changed and my exercise has been push just a bit harder than previous weeks do to advancing in C25k..hopefully it will pass. That icky weekend is approaching again, I think it will be another one at home which should do me good. Hope you all are having a wonderful week so far and an even better weekend. XoxoxoX Bru0

I am weighing in early because I leave tonight for my master classes and won't be near my scale until July 3. I will try to check in as much as possible, but you never know with these classes just what they're going to expect of us. I've already gotten the reading assignments for 2 classes (one starts next Wed, and the other doesn't start until July 7th). As I printed out the articles for the second class, I used no less than half a ream of paper!:noway: And I have to type up a summary of each of the 16 articles in that 1/2 ream. SIGH Looks like I won't be bored anytime soon. (The other classes reading is only 5 chapters, 4 in a book I haven't picked up yet ) Well, I should get busy packing and double checking my list of needed items.
Keep up the good choices! I will do my best, but the aunt I am staying with LOVES to feed people! Oh, and she bakes FANTASTIC chocolate chip cookies, and she bakes at least a dozen a day. Send me any extra will power you have hanging around, please!
Talk to you all again soon!0 -
I'm starting training for the Bix 7 tonight! Its a 7 mile race that I haven't done since 2004! :happy:0

Once again the work day was very hectic which is why I'm posting so late today. Our supervisor has given us a deadline to finish reading all of our cases by next Wednesday and in all honesty I don't think we're going to make it. I stayed late yesterday but couldn't do it today b/c I'm exhausted and tomorrow we're furloughed so no work. It is days like these that makes me thankful that I'm a morning person and have been consistent w/completing my workouts prior to work b/c there's no way I would be hopping/jumping around like a crazy person after a long day of work.
Today is week 8 day 4 of the P90X program and I was suppose to complete the stretch X dvd but I switched it out for the Cardio Recovery dvd of the Insanity program.0 -
Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone's day got off to a great start. Last night I was exhausted so I went to bed early but unfortunately was unable to sleep through the entire night. I awoke about 1 am and began watching tv and before I knew it it was 4:30 am and I had to be up by 7 am in order to complete today's workout and head to a 9 am meeting (non work related). Needless to say, when the alarm went off at 7 am I had no desire to crawl out of bed but I did and the workout is complete.
Today is week 8 day 5 of the P90X program so recovery week is almost over. I completed the Ab Ripper X and Stretch X dvd.0 -
Happy, Happy Saturday all! I've been up since 4:30 am for no particular reason at all except I couldn't sleep. So at 4:30 I was searching the internet trying to put together my 2011 vacation. My aunt (only 2 years older than me) and I were discussing the possibility of taking a Mediterranean cruise next summer earlier in the day so I decided to do some preliminary work to see what it would cost. While the trip would be a little pricey I believe it would be well worth it. Since I've only cruised on Carnival I decided to check out Royal Caribbean and they have a 7 day cruise departing from Barcelona, Spain and going to the following ports: Provence, France; Nice, France; Florence/Pisa; Italy, Rome; Italy, Naples, Italy and one day at sea before returning to Barcelona. I really hope I can make this European vacation happen but of course it will depend on $$$$. Once I completed the research I decided to get up and get the workout in.
Today is week 8 day 6 of the P90X program which is suppose to be Yoga but you know the routine I switched it up w/another dvd. I decided to complete the Cardio Core & Balance dvd from the Insanity program. I really like this workout. Once the workout was complete, I made a very yummy banana and chocolate protein shake. I then showered and headed out the door to the mechanic so my car could be serviced. I have since returned home and realized that I accomplished a lot this morning and it's not even 9 am......LOL.
My car is still at the mechanic so I'll be laying low until this afternoon but once he brings the car back I'm suppose to head to a bbq.
Hope everyone has a great day.0 -
Wow, Choco! Sounds like you have had a busy morning & week for that matter! Hopefully you will get to go on your cruise with your aunt, Sounds like fun! I LOVE cruising & would love to someday do a Mediterranean one as well!
Today I'm dusting off my roller blades & putting my HRM on & hopefully that will be a lot of calories burning off! I haven't roller bladed in about 6 or 7 years!
My shins are a bit sore still from running the other night for my Bix training race. Hopefully roller blading won't make them worse. The were a bit sore after jumping on the trampoline with my neice last night, but not too bad.
Today is Skinny Saturday Challenge so I've got a lot to accomplish today! See you all later & happy Saturday! Kelly0 -
Hi all! I thought I would check in really quick before I head to bed. I have a pretty neat story to share. Ok, so I mentioned I was headed to class for a few weeks. The town class is in is 2.5 hours from my house. I stopped at a popular truck stop along the way to use the facilities and refresh my drink. As I was walking across the parking lot (dressed in a "new" old pair of shorts, and a red t-shirt), a trucker walked out of the door and just stood there holding the door. I've had friends who have become truckers, and I've even run into a couple of them at that truck stop, so I didn't think much of it. As I got closer I didn't recognize the guy, so I was racking my brain trying to figure out if I should know him. When I stepped up onto the sidewalk he asked if I was going in (I could've enterred the restaurant section). I replied yes and he held the door for me. I thanked him and went through. As the door was closing I hear, "Wowee." :noway: I couldn't believe it! After I finished my business and got back to my car, I called my little sister and told her the story. She just started laughing. I asked her what her problem was, and she said, "You just got checked out AND hit on! It hasn't been THAT long since you were a 'hot young thing' SURELY you remember what it's like?!" At that point I started laughing also because she was right. I've never been "skinny" but in HS and college I did wear my weight very athletically (lots of muscles, curves in the right places, etc.). So I guess I'm going to have to get readjusted to the new skinnier me again!
I've had the football coach at school tell me I was looking good and ask how much weight I'd lost over the course of the year, but he was part of the wellness committee @ school, so I just put that down to curiosity because of the stuff we'd been doing with that. DH has said multiple times that I was looking better, but he's my hubby, and I wrote that off as trying to, um, get on my "good side." Little Sis even mentioned last weekend how good I was looking and that our waist sizes are almost the same again (she fought her weight battle during high school, and has remained fairly skinny since). I think it just took a totally stranger checking me out for it to really hit home, ya know?
Long post, sorry!:blushing: I'm really good at those! I SHOULD be able to check in with updates on how I'm doing, but I won't be back home to use my own scale until July 3. So I will do my next check in then. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great Father's Day!:flowerforyou:0 -
Good afternoon everyone! I am posting late today b/c I've been one busy lady. My day began w/me getting the workout in at 7:30 this morning. This is my third week running on the streets of GA and it's not getting easier yet. I'll admit that today was not nearly as brutal as last week b/c there was a light breeze and it was not as humid. I was able to run the entire time and completed 2.5 miles in 23 minutes. Overall I'm happy w/my time considering i'm a newbie as it relates to running (especially on the street).
After showering and dressing I hit the grocery store to complete my weekly shopping, returned home and made dinner (spaghetti: ground turkey breast, whole wheat pasta and sauce w/green, red, yellow and orange peppers and a spinach salad). After making dinner I washed and folded clothes and ironed my clothes for the work week.
Now that everything is taken care of I can chill out for the remainder of the day.
Lisa: Nothing like getting some attention from the opposite sex (even better when a stranger) to really boost the confidence. Put a lil pep in that step girl b/c you're looking HOT!0 -
I'm down 7.2lbs so far for the month of June. I start week4 of C25k this week. I haven't been dancing as much lately, so I'm gonna pick that back up (and depending on the weather, go swimming once or twice this week). Here recently, my sodium has been really bad, mine is set at 2500, but I've been going over 500-1000 at times, one day recently it was almost by 2000!! Yikes! So I made sure to drink plenty of water the past few days and it helped. So I plan on keeping my water intake between 10-12 8oz glasses. I just bought a 28oz bottle from Schnucks for $2.99 so that really helps

Good morning and happy Monday to all! Today is week 9 day 1 of the P90X program so it was a chest and back day. It's amazing what you begin to appreciate after a little break. Since I really hated the push ups done in the chest, shoulders and triceps workout it made me really appreciate the ones completed in the chest and back workout. I really rocked out this workout today and I'm very proud of myself. My plan is to do ab ripper this afternoon b/c just don't have the time in the morning unless I get up before 5 am and I have no plan to do that.0

OMGosh i'm getting really frustrated with myself. I've been slacking this last couple of weeks. I don't even know what happened, but my motivation has been low. Of course, it doesn't help when people around me tell me how great I look and all that, because I know I can get to my goal and those last 10 to 15 lbs would be me acheiving it. I need to buckle down and get serious again. I know I can do it. But I wanted to post my real weights I'm going to change my trigger again back to 174 b/c I want to be accountable for my real weight loss journey. Thank you all so much for your support.
This week, I'm going to not miss any of my workout and try to incorporate additional stuff, I made myself a mini home gym that I have not taken advantage of.0 -
No weigh in for me this week, but I do think I'm not doing TOO bad. Really difficult with all the wonderful food my aunt likes to serve, and all the cookies she likes to bake. (There are currently 3 different kinds in the kitchen:ohwell: and I them all!) My uncle does have a workout room (he was a regional weightlifting champion for the 60+ crowd several years back). There's a treadmill and a bike in there. I'm going to try to use one or the other every day to help with my exercise.
Well, back to studying! Only 4 chapters and 14 articles left to read and take notes over!0 -

<snip> New "Challenge" for all of us! I challenge us to tell a little bit about ourselves. <snip>
I'm a California girl, currently stuck in Las Vegas, Nevada, and trying desperately to get back to Cali. I've been married for 6 years (together for almost 11) to my best friend and the love of my life. We don't have any kids yet (besides our three kitties), as the hubby just finished law school and is studying to take the bar exam this summer -- but it's possible we'll start trying within the next year.
I have a B.A. in English and certificate in Paralegal Studies -- I was a paralegal for 2 1/2 years after graduating from college, but recently quit to be a stay at home wife, to focus more on my health, and to start writing - which has been my dream for a very long time. I'm a huge sci fi/fantasy nerd. I love stories -- be it from books, movies, TV, or video games -- I can get completely wrapped up in something with a good story. I hope to translate that love of stories into a fruitful writing career in the near future.0
