I quite agree!! Wally Lamb is one of my favourites, as he can write circles around many other authors. 'I Know This Much Is True' is, in my humble opinion, his best volume yet. I gather from amazon.ca that he's currently working on yet another novel which was to have been published in 2012; for some reason, though, its release date has been delayed. His work is worth the wait, but I sure hope that it's soon. Pickings are rather slim these days. Any suggestions?

Dunno about you, but I started reading the Asterix books in Junior High and found them soooo punny that I soon had to collect the whole shebang. It took a while, but I have 'em and still enjoy them. Good stuff, indeed!

And I hope that your spring is proceeding nicely - we're getting more snow tonight and perhaps some freezing rain. In the famous crabby words of Obelix: Rhubarbrhubarbrhubarbrhubarb....

Ooo I had no idea he was working on another that was supposed to be released soon!! And yes, you are quite right, the work is definitely worth the wait. :) At least it gives us something to look forward to. And I know what you mean about the pickings being slim these days, I feel the same way. I'll have to take a look through my bookshelves and see if anything jumps out at me that is really worth the read.

THANKS FOR SHARING IT'S A GREAT LIST AND SHOULD KEEP YOU OCCUPIED...

About 1,000 books on the bookshelves, but I'm reading "The Wise Man's Fear" by Patrick Rothfuss ( good beyond all hope), "Calculated In Death" by J.D. Robb, and re-reading "The Hobbit" for about the 10th time.

being the youngest of 5 brothers Asterix books kinda ran in my family lol they got handed down...two childrens authors that still amaze me to this day are Ted Hughes and his book 'The Iron man' (I think it was called 'The Iron Giant' in the U.S version)
I remember reading that at primary school and I just couldn't put it down, a brilliant children's story.

The other author that was such an influence on my reading progression was the great Roald Dahl, I devoured his books when I was young, he was a real genius and he wrote magnificently for children as well as adults.

Spring here in Paris is progressing nicely, if somewhat slowly but we can't complain a few more weeks and the flowers and trees will be in full bloom and life will get back to normal again.

Thanks for posting, hope you keep out of the cold until spring arrives where you are.

'Pastoral' by Nevil Shute; 'She's Come Undone' by Wally Lamb; several Asterix books. Am re-reading all of these for the umpteenth time, as spring is late in arriving here and one needs something of good cheer. And, what the hey, it's better for me than chocolate. Sort of.

    Happy Easter...

What are Asterix books? Is that the last name of the author?

Asterix the Gaul was originally a comic strip by René Goscinny (stories) and Albert Uderzo (illustrations).
they made books, cartoons for television, and in more recent times a series of films starring non other than Gérard Depardieu. the franchise was massive, if you haven't done so already check them out as they are fantastic!

What did you think of 'The Hobbit' movie? I just wish Peter Jackson would leave Tolkein alone and move on tbh.

I just finished Before I Go To Sleep by S.J Watson and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, I've so many books on my Kindle that I want to read but I also bought all the Twilight books so I can re-read them soon but I think that my next read will be The Host by Stephenie Meyer as well as Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. n.n
