are you serious? dihydrogen monoxide is water.

therefore - i'm pretttttyyyyy sure that the 'evil Monsanto' is not the only company to use it - and if they are (which they're not) I'd like you to point me in the direction of where you found that glorious piece of information about dihydrogen monoxide.

    It's an old joke, spoilsport.

    That's pretty funny.

Sugar-free = good for weight Ioss

When the sugar is taken out, artificial (chemical) sweeteners are put in.

Not only are these harmful to your health, but studies have shown that they make you crave carbohydrates and actually make you eat MORE--which increases the number on your scale!

Here is just a partial list of the health effects of Aspartame (aka Equal or NutraSweet):

    Eyes:
-Blindness in one or both eyes
-Decreased vision and/or other eye problems such as blurring, flashes, tunnel vision
    -Eye pain; Dry eyes/decreased tears

and to think I stopped masturbating because i thought that is why I was going blind. now I know it was the diet coke I was drinking.

Hippies think chemicals are bad then they want a drug to make their allergies go away.

As a former hippie I can tell you we consumed all sorts of chemicals back in the day in the form of recreational drugs. We had a saying "better living through chemistry"

These are all symptoms of diabetic damage, and most of the population who ingests these sugar free sweeteners are indeed diabetic, because if they don't they die.

    So basically, don't get diabetes.

'I say aspartame is bad because a youtube video told me evil companies make it and I get headaches when I have diet coke'

    1. Youtube? Blogpost? No.

    2. Evil companies don't do half of the bloody things people give them credit for, and god knows where they get the money to supposedly pay off every damn scientist who has ever studied aspartame and declared it safe (and it is THE MOST STUDIED ADDITIVE EVER)

    3. Funny how noone gets headaches in studies if they were told there was no aspartame in their drink. Not saying its all in the mind, but you know...

    Rant over.
  • Been using aspartame all my life. Hell, I'm so old that I remember using Sweet & Lo. I haven't gone blind, had a seizure, gotten an ulcer, gotten cancer, gone insane, had a stroke etc etc etc etc. And would you believe I haven't died, not even once!

I don't use it cause I think it tastes HORRIBLE. I despise the stuff.
  • Does aspartame cause weight gain? Say if I had a diet coke wouldn't the aspartame or any other artificial sweeteners store that as fat in my body?

I'm gonna die of something. Might as well enjoy the ride.

I don't smoke, don't do drugs, exercise like mad, eat healthy, and drink alcohol once in a blue moon. I think I can call my penchant for Diet Dr. Pepper a mild vice, at best.

People have to stop believing what they read on deh interwebz. I can't believe people passionately regurgitate this tripe with such steadfast conviction...

Oh, and there's a Nigerian Dictator that needs your help when you're done flushing all the diet soda in your kitchen down the drain.
  • Meh.

    I'll take my chances.

I love my diet drinks too much to give them up considering I have at least one a day & have experienced none of those side effects.

A life without my diet Rootbeer & Sprite zero is not a life worth living IMO

I was just looking at this stuff online earlier because i get vertigo attacks and they have been hitting recently, and ive been drinking more diet soda and using sugar free coffee syrup insead of creamer, I am suspecting aspartame may be the cause of these attacks:angry:

I missed this originally but it should be mentioned that anyone who thinks they are suffering from headaches, dizziness, or nausea as a result of aspartame should looking into folate (B12) deficiency. The breakdown of methanol in the body can deplete folic acid levels that may already be low in the first case. In the scenario one could experience headaches or vertigo like symptoms.
