Jess - I would tell your mom that you know you can't do this for ever but a sprint of hard work, low calories is far better for you than the old days of NO exercise and WAY too many calories. Remind her you're in this for the long run and that this just offsets the vacation! Tell her you expect her to jump in your $hi# if you keep doing this for weeks but you really want her to support you when you're being smart about it. Ask her to look at your food diary so she can see that you're eating healthy and making smart choices.

And remember that if you mom isn't being healthy she'll feel defensive and find your new lifestyle threatening. Not on purpose! Just happens! If she thinks you're being smart and doing things right it makes her choices seem all that much more ridiculous. I've been where your mom is - and I know how convincing that little voice of (un) reason can be!

Chris - Ask him to meet you at the AT&T store! I buy from craigslist and I advertise there too! Edited to add - magnesium citrate is the one- glass bottles in the pharmacy, cheap and effective. Just in case you feel a little heavy Monday night

LittleSpy - I'm sorry! That sucks! Will the spread sheet still work when you have the right numbers? Maybe part of your work is valid?

Have we heard from Jesyka lately? :flowerforyou:

Miranda - where do you live now?

St. Louis - hope you're having a blast!

I realized I had a spring roll (deep fried) and more sushi than I'd admitted to last night - so I was over by more like a thousand calories. Sob!:sad:

Heather - when my mare comes into heat she teases:love: the pony gelding, then kicks the crap out of him if he acts interested. poor pony!:noway: It's still cold and rainy here so I haven't done much with them yet (as in, haven't laid a hand on them in months). Yesterday the pony was "playing" with the dead ground hog we took away from Simon. Animals are weird.:ohwell:

    back to work!

Thanks Mstahll! She has been really supportive ever since I have started. Been my biggest cheerleader really. She is trying to do the healthy lifestyle. She has dropped about 30 pounds herself just changing the way she eats with no exercise. I have explained to her I can't do that. My body wont let me drop weight like that. She is also learning new ways to cook better for you since I will be moving back home in August. Just with me kicking it into high gear after vacation really freaked her out. She's just afraid I'm not giving myself the proper nutrition. Thanks for the pointers though. I will definitely call her after work and have a serious talk. She knows her opinion matters most to me right now.

I would ask for the serial number ahead of time. Just to call and verify that it's not stolen. They should be able to tell you who it's registered to as well. I think he is right about only selling the phone and not the box but I would still ask for it just to make sure!

Call Best Buy and ask if they can verify the phone isn't stolen - if not see if he'll meet you at an AT&T store (or dealer that works on that network). Else call AT&T and ask them what information you'll need to get to verify the phone is not stolen or under contract etc...

I need to step it up some so I can meet my birthday goal.Just frustrated today. On top of that I busted up my knee cap yesterday but I still exercised today.Doctor said I just bruised it up real bad.Things will be better next week.I am not counting on a loss tomorrow but TOM is still lingering

LilDebbie-You will get tot hose 700 calorie burn days. I must say you gotta push yourself HARD to get there though. I spent about 70 minutes doing pure cardio last night to get there. I was exhausted!! I am usually pretty energized after a workout and can't sleep if I do it at night. I slept like a BABY last night. You will see the scale move soon. Hang in there.

POS Me-You already finished your working out? I envy you!

Colorado Girl-Enjoy your massage. You deserve it! If your ever in Texas and wanna give a massage, you let me know!

Cris-I was just thinking...did he say how long she had the iPhone? I think you can still return it to AT&T within like 30 or 60 days.

Thanks Pos!! I guess it really doesn't hurt to give into cravings as long as you don't go insanely crazy like I did today LOL!!! It's all trial and error.Thats hilarious that you were supposed to start your period last Wednesday cause thats when I was supposed to start too but instead I started Monday lol.

Jess - yup! I finished my workouts 40 minutes on all three: treadmill, elliptical, and stepper. I burned 1,389 but i removed 300 calories to be on the safe side..so that's 1,089 calories burned. And I am not even tired, but very hungry. I missed my lunch so i will eat my dinner early and have a snack later on. I am going to stick ot my 1200 + 100 calories today...No matter what!

Hey girls I am in for the 700 or 600 calorie burn challenge...

Awestfall: you're right give into craving because you start eating everything else to replace what you're actually craving...or that is what happens to me that is why my calories went overboard because i kept replacing my craving for other *healthier options* but all I wanted was welchs fruit snacks...at the end i gave in and felt os much better.

Jess- I thought about that too, he said it was about a month old. I'm thinking he got the same deal as I did...$99 and is trying to get a profit on the phone. Most of the other ones on craigs list were like $300

Girls- If I do not log in tonight or tomorrow then something is wrong and you should call the cops and tell them about my meeting to get this stupid iphone...the guy's name is David Cramer, k thanks!

The security job here that I thought I accepted back in February then went away then came back then changed again... was just approved for funding today! So I think I'll get the written offer tomorrow! Please cross your fingers and think hopeful thought! Because we're laying off here again and that makes this even more stressful! *bites nails!*

Our Thursday night dinner tonight is a birthday party for a friend who is also on a diet. She requested my "garden chicken" which is basically sauteed chicken breasts with lots of veggies and a little cheese on top. The goal is to make the veggies tender/crisp and find colorful veggies - I'm going to make a run to the bulk store and hope for the best! My basic plan is red and yellow bell peppers, asparagus, snow peas, mushrooms, onions, and roasted tomatoes!

For what ever reason I turned twitter on through my phone today and I have some wacky friends who are all hopped up on caffeine and they've been tweeting back and forth to each other ridiculous names based on their last names. One friend's last name is Fridy so she's going with "Monday Wednesday Fridy" and Roader is just going to name her son "Off" and then another friend suggested Rhoda and so on - 4th grade humor but it's cracking me up!

ANNNNNND it's Thursday and I've gotten how much done so far??? Yeah. oops!

You'd better not forget to log in or you will scare us all! Good luck! It would be good to be able to check the serial# ahead of time, or as someone suggested call Best Buy and see if they would be able to help you check at the store before you buy it.

    Major work-related vent ahead --

So, I'm sitting here this morning, doing my usual work which is generally pretty low volume right now (which is why I have so much time to stalk -- my busy time at work is really October-Feb). And then the payroll manager comes into my office & starts talking about something she wants me to do for her (we're about to go through a HUGE software switch at work and we're scrambling to prepare for that). I was already irritated by what I have to do for that because it's a huge undertaking and the insurance company royally screwed up their accounting system LAST NOVEMBER and still haven't gotten around to being functional. Well, the insurnace premium accounting is pretty much a huge part of my normal job, which I haven't really been able to do since.. yeah -- november because of the accounting problems at the ins. co. So it's a humongous mess and I have no way to straighten it out without starting from square one and putting in probably thousands of hours of research (no exaggeration). And they want me to get everything completely straight there in like a week which is just.. well, it's impossible. Because when I took this job and started working here & got the insurance accounting shoved on me because no one else was doing it (for the last 5 effing years!!! :noway:), it was a huge monster. But I took it on head on & was probably 80% finished with it when the ins. co's accounting system collapsed 6 months ago (6 EFFING MONTHS ago and it's sitll not up again). Yeah, that was 80% finished over 12 months time. But since then, there's still that 20% of crap out there to be dealt with as well as 6 months of new crap that I can't see because of the problems with the insurance company's accounting department.
    I want to cry.
Anyway, so while I was being told I had to straighten years and years worth of other peoples' screw ups in a week's time, my supervisor's supervisor walks into my office & says she needs another project completed by "Friday." I said "tomorrow Friday?!" She said "yeah -- that's why I gave it to you ahead of time" (like 9.30am this morning was "ahead of time" for a tomorrow deadline or something). I was like "umm... okay I'll try." And I began working furiously. FURIOUSLY. The hardest I've ever worked at this job. EVER. I didn't pee, I didn't drink water, I just busted my brain doing hundreds of calculations & developing the most beautiful spreadsheet ever. I was *so close* to being finished after almost 4 hours. I thought I may actually even be able to finish before I left at 1.45 today. My phone rings -- I plan to ignore it (like I had been all morning) but then I recognized my boss's cell phone # so I answered it. She said "Don't worry about that project my supervisor gave you earlier today." :noway: I said "Well, um.. I'm almost done with it." And there was a long pause... And then she said "Are you really? Oh my god, I'm SOOOOOOO SORRY."
    *deep breath*
"All those numbers are going to change, so we're going to have to redo it Monday"
    *another very very deep breath*

    ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!

    Okay I'm done.

Thanks for reading my long winded (every possible detail) vent. I know some of you were screaming in your heads for me to get to the point the whole time you were reading it.

oh ... that absolutely stinks ....

I thought I was having a bad day ... I accidentally shutdown the wrong production system ... that is never a fun email to have to send out to the whole office.:embarassed:

I have a rant of my own. So my Mom is on my facebook and I've been posting my workouts and stuff on there. I also talk to my Mom about my workouts and what all I'm doing. She's starting to freak out on me. She thinks I'm "overdoing" it. I told her about the 700 calorie challenge and she nearly wet herself. I told her I'm still eating at least 1400-1500 calories a day. I tried telling her that I'm listening to my body and what it needs but that didn't seem good enough. Any thoughts on this matter? Am I overdoing it? What can I tell her to let her know I'm okay?

    HELP!

Jess, I don't think you're overdoing it as long as you feel good (not tired, dizzy, lightheaded, in a lot of pain, etc).
My mom does the same thing and quite honestly it supremely pisses me off. So much so that I don't even talk to her about anything specific regarding my exercise anymore. If I post something about running on facebook (specifically running -- she hates that I run) she never fails to comment negatively on it. I get that she's a nurse and she's worried about me injuring myself. She definitely freaked out when I switched to barefoot running (and as you all know I've been injury free since then!). Her comments are all based in ignorance so I try to approach her in an educational way rather than a defensive way. But when I explain to her that I feel confident about the research I've done and I feel great about my progress and my decisions so far, she gets defensive saying she's just "worried" about me and is "just trying to help." :ohwell: Thing is, I know that's what she truly THINKS she's doing. The part that really irritates me is that she never expressed her concern about me being morbidly obese... :grumble: Maybe she was just trying to spare my feelings then.

So I guess I don't know how you should handle it. I mean, I don't have any regrets about what I've said to my mom. I've just tried to let her know that I'm trying to be really aware of what I'm doing and researching the decisions I'm making about my exercise and diet and that I'm doing the best I can to become and stay healthy.

Parents! They're just as bad as teenagers!

Thanks! I actually talked to her after work about it. She said she forgets that's a lot of times more nutrition's food is less in calories and that it does give your body nutrients. I'm a freak and my Mom's opinion matters to me, A LOT! So she told me she was sorry and that she really is proud of me. She is just worried I'm going to get obsessed. But she seems ok with it now. Thanks for the help ladies!

so, I broiled chicken breasts last night and dinner plans were changed on me. So, now I have 4 left over broiled chicken breasts sitting in the fridge. Any ideas of what to make with them?

Well, it's not healthy but what I just did with my leftover roasted chicken was cut it up & put it on top of a frozen veggie pizza. :embarassed: So much for a good weigh in tomorrow, eh sodium?

I've been busting my butt on my bike so much with interval training every morning my quads are sore. Trying to decide whether running tonight is a good idea. I'm thinking no. I think I'll hit up pos_me's challenge & grab my bf's free weights instead. WOOT!

Here's another rant (I'm on a roll today) that has been induced by something that just occurred while I was typing. I've mentioned before that I live in a patchy neighborhood undergoing "revitalization" which is part of a huge city project. I am so freaking tired of bums walking up & down the street asking me if they can do yardwork for money. I don't think it's wrong for me to be not interested in paying someone to mow my lawn when I just did it myself a few days ago. And they get SO MAD at me when I tell them no. And I swear to you a different person asks EVERY SINGLE NIGHT if they can mow it and it doesn't even need to be mowed. If I'm not on my porch, they will KNOCK on my door to ask! Now I appreciate that some people are offering a service rather than just straight up asking me for money like a lot of other people do (and those people also get really upset when I tell them no). Once I offered a homeless man downtown my leftovers from an Indian restaurant when he asked me for money. He REFUSED the food I offered. The friend I was with scoffed to him "Woah... I guess beggars *can* be choosers." And that was the day I stopped catering to the panhandlers.

Okay. So I have to whine before I catch up on the 3 pages of posts that I have missed.

SO I went to the doctor today and I was so proud because I have lost 15 pounds in the last 2 months! I couldn't weight for him to see that I had lost the weight and he would have been so proud! Boy was I sooooooo wrong!!! I weighed myself this morning and I was down another pound to 267.0 so I was really excited!! But then when I got on the scale at the doctor I was at 277.0!!! :brokenheart: How can that be??? He told me that I was at the same weight that I was at the last time I saw him 6 months ago. I told him well I must have gained more weight and that caused me to lose it again which is a good thing but the whole 10 lbs difference!!!! :explode: I got on the scale when I got home and the scale was up to 267.5-268.0 so I am even more confused! He then started to tell me well in 2004 I weighed 182 lbs, well that was after I had been really sick and had major surgery so of course I was going to be really low. AAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Sorry for the rant but I had to let it out. I will be back after dinner to check in and to catch up on the posts. Hopefully I will be in a little better mood.

Aw, it's okay! At least you lost all the weight you put on since you saw him last before you started your healthy new lifestyle! That's definitely a good thing. He should have been happy you didn't gain since last time -- Most people our size are on their way up rapidly.

As for the 10 pound difference, yep, scales vary a lot. One of my scales weighs me 15 pounds lower than the other 2. Just keep tracking your progress on the scale you've been using and now you know when you go to the doctor, you can expect to weigh about 10 pounds more there than you do on your scale at home. The pounds lost will be the same though.

Wow, I just read 3 pages of posts on my phone. A graduation is a great place to multitask! Just wanted to send Cris good luck for her purchase tonight. Jess, I'm proud you talked to your mom and you all came to a good understanding.

I'm so excited we've got more folks on board for the 700 cals burned challenge and I think it makes sense to it down if necessary. For me, 700 is something I can push myself hard upwards and put in that extra 5-10 of going all out. It does giver something to work for and focus on when I'm exercising, but 700 everyday would be really hard to maintain. After this week, I like Cris's idea of aiming for 600 3-4 times a week. I feel like the push this week is good to make up for some lethargy and bad choices I made last week.

Anyway, I went to the high school track today and ran/walked for 3 miles. Tomorrow my mom and I are going to her gym together, so that should be fun to do.

We are going out for dinner later tonight to celebrate the graduation. While I know eating ALL my exercise calsay somewhat defeat the point, I'm glad I have them just in case! ;-)
