    I'm totally cool with Speedos, if the dude has the body to rock them. My personal favorite are the Daniel Craig Casino Royale style, though.

    god, seriously: thanks. i almost never comment on things like this, but they've made mad improvements on the speedo, yeah?

    Just stopping by to point out that they are indeed Olympic swimmers. The ONLY guys who get to rock these are these guys and a handful of others in the pool simultaneously. If you aren't one of them, then NO.

    I swim in a pool in Rome 4 days a week. I see alot of good bods like this---even on the older guys. In Italy, Speedos are it for swimming. I really don't understand the problem American women have with them, except perhaps the overweight population in the States make it an eyesore. I'll point out that Italians eat alot of carbs and have great bods overall--but that's another thread.

    Same here in the Netherlands. I actually frown upon guys who wear board shorts to the pool. Same goes for bikinis. You just don't swim lanes in board shorts or in bikinis; it's weird.

    If a guy wears a speedo with a less than perfect body, it is gross. But we are supposed to accept women in bikinis regardless of her fitness level.

    Not only that, they usually don't swim very well, so you don't want to be in a lane with them. The serious swimmers wear appropriate swimwear--speedos and tank suits.

    No. There's definitely a place for speedos. Under wet suits and swimming laps are two of them. I always think of this question in terms of what guys are wearing to the beach. Again, I have an admitted natural bias here. Speedos on Florida beaches are frowned upon. If you're in Europe go right ahead.

    You know, I've seen alot of swimwear fashions come and go. Just because Speedos aren't the "fashion" on America's beaches right now, doesn't mean that in about 5 years we maynot see an abrupt turnaround--everybody in Speedos. Yay! :love:

    I've played "name that nationality" with other expat friends based on swimwear alone. Pretty silly and harmless but yea, funny enough attitudes towards swimwear vary quite a bit depending on where someone is from.

    Funny, we play the same game in Rome with tourists, but, as you're aware tourists bring in money, so....................watch what you say.

    I think it just depends on the person. I've worn board shorts and mid length tight trunks like boxer briefs. Don't really care what people think. I think they are comfortable and like the style. I actually got checked out a lot more with the tighter trunks. But I think anybody can wear anything as long as they are confident. I gave up caring what people think a long time ago. Hell I wear old school golf outfits to the course with the 1920's style knickers and argyle socks. Why? Cause I think it's awesome. People laugh their butts off and it's a great convo starter. Wear what ever makes you happy.

    I don't like to wear anything under my wetsuit. It's so uncomfy. :grumble:
