    Hi all,
Well here we are down in beautiful Cornwall. The weather is COLD and windy, but the sun is popping out now and again. When we arrived we had lunch in the conservatory which was baking hot, but as I lie on the sofa inside I can hear the wind whipping round. The view out the back of the rolling countryside is stunning and we are really isolated here. Just what we like - peace and quiet.
I managed to get the Wi Fi on. Had to find the switch first!
Travelling is always hard for diets, but we stopped on the way for a cup of tea and although DH had a toasted tea cake I just had a portion of my emergency nuts and raisins I keep in my bag. Then when we got here the bread in the coolbox was still frozen so lunch was a measured piece of cheese and tomatoes! I will have a slice of bread as a snack when we are all unpacked and settled. I have brought a homemade chilli with me for the first night as I can't be bothered driving some distance to a supermarket on the first day. Also a large bunch of spinach from our garden. Yum! I picked a lot of herbs to bring with us as well so the fridge is full of green stuff. The basil plant survived the journey and is warming up in the conservatory.
The TV has died here so we will be doing any TV watching on the internet. Friday is my favourite evening with 3 comedy shows in a row, so we will be watching them with a time lag!
I am having a day off exercising today, but did my face ones in the car. The dumbbells are waiting in the hall so tomorrow it will be 30D off the internet and some extra lifting.
There is some wonderful walking round here with a stately home about a mile away. The converted chapel we are staying in was the Nonconformist chapel for the house. Also a lovely walk through woods to an old station with a steam engine. The signal box sells amazing cakes, which this year I won't be able to indulge in.
Love to all, Heather in stunningly beautiful Cornwall:flowerforyou:

Haven't had time to catch up on the posts today (hopefully sometime over the long weekend). The weight I put on is slowly coming off. :grumble: Neither my DD or I felt like exercising today, so I challenged my DD to a dance off. We just finished 45 minutes of Just Dance 2 on the Wii - what a blast! Definitely a fun way to torch some calories. Now we are going to eat a healthy lunch. Thank goodness the cupcakes are gone! Temptation gone.

Have a great day and holiday weekend.

Blessings and good fortune to all my great MFP ladies here! Had a marvelous time, relaxing time with my best friend! Didn't even sleep too bad on her couch. Fortunately, right before I left to go there, my DH called me and said he heard there was a bad accident on 90 and gave me an alternate way to bypass that area and get on the highway further up. So very grateful that he alerted me because I found out later that traffic was backed up for 4 hrs!!! Even though I didn't log yesterday, I did pretty good because we DID NOT go to the Eli's Cheescake factory outlet and walked around for about 4 hrs. shopping! Best of all, after all that walking my knees did not hurt! However, after I get my errands done, I definitely need to do my stretching routine. Everything is just kind of stiff and achy now especially my neck. I'm sure it's because of holding the tension there driving through all the construction going back and forth. My furry baby was so upset I didn't come home last night that he went on a hunger strike until I got back. A good walk with them is in my very near future! Almost forgot to share with you that I got asked to participate in a short market research study at Bath and Body Works about a few new scents possibly coming out and I got a $15 gift card for doing it! So, I only spent two dollars there!

Grandmallie- I love trying different teas! I'll have to get Red Rose. Have you ever had the Twinings Pomegranate? Delicious! I recently took my dress ( in my profile pic) from my son's wedding to a consignment shop which originally bought from David's Bridal. I was told it would price at about $70 and I'd get 40 percent. Far enough. Then found out the very next day all formalwear was half priced and I only got $13.49!!:noway: I could have definitely sold it for more on my own! Wasn't too happy!

Jodios- How fun doing the dance off with your DD!

Robin - Have a great birthday!!

Liz - I will keep you and your family in my prayers! :flowerforyou:

    Kathy from Illinois :drinker:

P.S. Can you imagine how much hot water I would have been in , if I would have brought cheesecake home after the whole donut fiasco!

Well, finished my running around and came home a little late for lunch, I bought fresh strawberries and a strawberry Vinagrette cooked some chicken and made a yummy salad.

Barbie-I'm the same way with breads, I lose control so I just can't eat it. The more wheat products I eat, the more I go out of control. I had to start all over I gained 10 pounds, now I have those to lose too. But that's ok, just a couple of weeks of hard work an boom gone.
Checked my tomato plants and I have tomatoes. Yippie

It's been drizzle and downpours all day here. I have two volunteer events I'm supposed to be at tomorrow, but, since I can't be in two places , I've opted for the police support group which is doing an info stand at a local festival. The running club also has a major race but not one I usually help at and, since DD is lifeguarding tomorrow instead of running, it was an easy choice. I hope this rain clears out.

Exercise, other than standing a lot and walking has been nil........so we (DD and I) are going to folk dance tonight. It will be good to move.

Suebdew..........no, I don't golf (unless you count minature golf occ.) but I always thought the real thing looked like fun and I pass a golf course almost daily.

Off to shower and dress........have good evenings all!

    Hi dear friends,

Here at work, and have 3 days coming up off..... . Poor DH, he was totally bushed today and when I called him 2 different times he was napping...We have been doing alot in the last few days and then last night had our Gem and Mineral club to go to for pot luck :ohwell: That is always a mine field to wade through. I went a tiny bit over by 100 calories... but I also had exercise calories burned so it was ok. I just do not like to go over 1200 calories even with my exercise added in. I think tonight we will veg and get to sleep early.

Wessecg- we all go over our calories now and then.... you need to forgive yourself and start again. There is always a lesson to learn from everything. Just come and join in the gang that has all done the same!

City Jane - Sounds like a wonderful trip, can just imagine how beautiful it is there. A few years ago, DH lost a sister to cancer, and with her went all the knowledge of genealogy as her kids deleted everythng on her computer.... she had gotten DH 's family back to England and Ireland and Scotland. I took up the banner and am continuing on with the hunt. I am soooooooo amazed how far back we have gotten the line, and how intertwined the line is. Anyway some of the family were Corwall people! One thing I have on my "bucket" list is to visit those countries and walk in the steps of all the Lynch family.

Meg- Hugs to you! Praying Dad is much better soon. Rest when you can.

Liz - you too... Rest and know we are thinking about you!

    Hugs to all

Kathy -I took a dress that I bought for formal night on a cruise that I never wore, tags still on to a consignment shop, we were there the other day, they had it on the sale rack for 17.00 bucks and I get 40% of that. I wont tell you what I paid for it:grumble:

I have the lemon chiffon tea steeping and it smells heavenly:heart: it will be a cold and rainy weekend here in CT. But what can you do?I have been totally shamed into putting my feeder back up, will stop at Agway tomorrow to pick up more birdseed..
Just sipping on the tea now:bigsmile: It is DIVINE!!! the wonderful thing about these tea's I dont need the 1/2 & 1/2 (saves on calories)
No major plans this weekend, but will be hitting the gym.. I have to break this plateau... want to get into the 160's:tongue:

:flowerforyou: Yanniejannie, I’ve heard the same conflicting info about calcium. I take Isagenix calcium which is lactate gluconate…….I trust all the Isagenix products……I take it 500 mg at a time mixed in a shake or as part of the electrolyte drink I take to my dance class.

:flowerforyou: Cheryl, my dogs won’t let me walk less and walking is considered very good for bone health so I’ll just carefully watch what I eat and make gradual changes…..I don’t sit still very well……I love to be up and moving.l

:flowerforyou: Katla, when I get to see the specialist in Seattle, I’ll share everything I learn from her.

:flowerforyou: Sue in TX, my hubby played golf for years and played in all sorts of weather…..he has a golf umbrella and special rain gear.

:flowerforyou: Jb, I stopped baking when I started on this fitness journey and it was a wise decision for me……Jake enjoys baked items from time to time at someone else’s house or at a potluck but they are never in our house.

:flowerforyou: Heather, bringing your own food is a great way to eat healthy when you travel…..you did a great job.

:flowerforyou: Today there was a retirement party for the fabulous woman who works in the office in our manufactured home community…..she is amazing, knowing everyone’s name and being a friend to many….we will miss her……we decided to eat the meal that was served and I had four corn muffins (a food that is not allowed in my house and is a treat only on special occasions)

Joyce - have fun with the grandkids

barbie - you have such great self control I can't imagine in my wildest dreams you getting on a weight gain path and not being able to get off. You will, that I'm sure of.

DeeDee - have a great dinner with your friend. Only you probably don't want to go to a seafood restaurant. The seafood around here doesn't even begin to compare to that from FL. We're just so far inland and it has to be trucked in. He's probably used to fresh seafood. Where in FL is he from?

grandmalle - can you have yogurt? When my kids were little, what I used to do was take a 32oz container of unflavored low fat yogurt and a 12oz can of oj concentrate. Thaw the concentrate and don't reconstitute it. Then mix the two together, pour into ice pop molds and enjoy. I used to give this to the kids when they were babies, too. Orange juice concentrate seems to be the best, I guess it's most concentrated. I tried applejuice concentrate and grapejuice once, but the orange seems to be the best. Hey, it's low in sugar, high in calcium, pretty decent on the calories (I forget how much each ice pop was now), and best of all...cheap.

Did about 50 minutes of Denise Austin's Boot Camp DVD today. As horrible as this may sound, I'm starting to get bored with the DVD's that I have, need to get more. Tomorrow is yoga.

It's such a nice day out, we'll probably go do some more of the river rock. I have a feeling, tho, that it'll probably be too cool to go in the pool. Oh well...another day.

Well, we did go out and do more work on the river rock. First, tho, I made white bean turkey chili. Someone on here (and I'm so terrible with names I don't remember who) said that they cook their beans in a crockpot after soaking them, so I put the beans and turkey in the crockpot to cook while we were outside. We worked from about 10 until 5. I'm beat. Vince was putting down the landscape fabric while I shoveled the rocks from the pile into the dump cart. We got most of the part that's the hardest to do, it's a VERY steep slope. But I would say that we got about 3/4 of it done. Tomorrow we'll probably finish up, then I go to church while Vince said that he was going to cut the grass.

And yes, DeeDee, I wore my sunscreen. It's funny in a way, you can see a tan line on my arms right where my gloves end. Put the sunscreen on around 8 and didn't wash it off until around 5. It was cool, somewhat breezy, but good working weather.

Cheryl - I'm proud of you for logging everything.

Heather - great having snacks with you. That's what I do, my pocketbook always has some snacks in it. I'll go to yoga tomorrow, but I probably won't do any formal exercise Sun, the weather is supposed to be nice so will probably continue working on the river rock.

I feel like I should be responding to more but I'm really beat.

Jane - have fun at the party

Meg - great news about your dad

Kathy - that's wonderful that you got that survey and were given the gift certificate for it. It's a good thing you didn't bring home cheesecake....lol

yanniejannie - have fun at the folk dance! You'll certainly get your exercise in there, that's for sure.

Jenny - welcome, you've come to a great place for support

Heather I want to be in your pocket and travel with you. I love to watch travels shows and do my traveling that way. I love Englad and Ireland. It just sounds so wonderful where you are.

I have had a good share of hugs today. What I haven't had is exercise. We were stuck on the interstate for 20 minutes not moving. So I turned on my 80's cardio on my Pandora and did cardio sitting in the car. I'm sure anyone beside me thought I was crazy but I was doing cardio to Michael Jackson's Beat it! Couldn't do much with my feet but did what I could. I know my husband thought I was crazy. My daughter said she always takes to dog on a long walk in evening so I was looking forward to it. I/2 block!!!!! Long walk??????? I'm sure the dog didn't even enjoy it. She asked me if I could keep up with the pace the dog set and I assured her I could. I haven't taken any walks since I have been at the Y and am riding the bike 6 miles. I was looking forward to walking a brisk mile with the dog. She has recently gotten an interesting job in a document facility underground in an old limestone quarry.

I would post a pic I took today of my youngest grand daughter but I don't see how to do it so you all will just have to take my word for it how wonderful she is.

I did a long post which the computer completely lost - the internet is terrible here, so I will just say - well done Joyce - love the in car cardio!
There are gorgeous flowers in the lanes and we walked through the woods to the station. Resisted DH' s cake!
Breakfast in the conservatory looking at the fields and woods with deer bounding about in front of us.
Wonderful birds, but no bees or butterflies.
My new found stamina got me up the hill on the way back - I used to have to stop every few paces!
Now I will stop before the computer loses it all.
Lots of love everyone, keep at it!

    Happy Weekend!

Just popping in for quick minute to check in and mark my spot. I did a 20 minute interval walk yesterday with my furry boys and this morning the top of my foot is swollen and hurting again. :frown: Not the way I wanted to start the weekend! Yet after walking around shopping for 4 hrs Thursday it was fine. The only difference between the two was the pace and my shoes. I always wear walking shoes walking the dogs but wore my crocks when I went shopping. My foot doctor did is not a fan of crocks for foot support and he did do xrays of that foot when I was there a few weeks back and said there are no hairline fractures. I wear a good quality walking shoe (Brooks) and orthotics. The top of my feet always seem to swell up when I wear any tighter fittings shoes and the only advice I was given was ice. Later this weekend, I'm going to do the same walk as yesterday but with the crocks and see for myself if it makes a difference. Any suggestions or advice is welcome always.

    Take care, :flowerforyou:
