What do those of you who are very clean and organized do about your very messy and disorganized significant others?

One quarter of our house is taken up with stuff my DH says "I'll be able to use one day"..and I feel as if I'm constantly picking up after him.

I clean once a week, top to bottom. I also keep it tidy during the week and have certain organization projects periodically. It's only my daughter and myself so things never get too messy but I'm kind of a neat freak.

Kitchen/dining room and normally the main living area is daily, bathrooms and vacuuming is a weekly thing for me.

Yard stuff is maybe monthly or whenever I have a rent inspection.

I clean out my boyfriends cage every other day, and he gets fresh blankets if he hasn't tried to get out

We keep a generally clean home, but the clincher seems to be right before we're expecting company.

I do enough to keep things not too embarrassing. I raised four children and found that when I kept things real clean all the time, I was taking time away from them. I lightened up and spent more time playing and reading and making art with my children.

Today the kids are grown, and my husband and I are both retired and want to do other things besides clean. So, things are ok around here, but the priority is each other. We've both had illnesses that could have killed us. And man alive when that happened, we got a good look at our priorities. Maintaining the house is important, but to have it be a sparkling clean showplace, not so much. When I was young, it embarrassed me a bit. Today nothing is more important than having each other.

Because of my work schedule, we dont spend much time at home anyways. My house is normally pretty tidy, I only really "clean" on Sundays. The rest of the week, we just do what HAS to be done- Clean up in the bathroom, load the dishwasher, clean counters and tables, pick up any messes the kids make eating...maybe a load of laundry. I mean, we literally spend 3 waking hours at home a day during the week. So, not much to mess up in that amount of time!! Sundays I do everything-- its my favorite day, especially in warmer weather, I open windows, turn music up load, put food in the crock pot and just clean all day with breaks to play with the kids in between chores. :)

I clean everyday, too. As soon as I pop up out of bed, that sucker gets made. And all the other stuff you named sounds pretty much like what I do daily. I hate dirt and despise clutter.
I wish I had this attitude lol. My laundry doesnt get done unless a) I have no more clean clothes or b) I can no longer see the floor of my bedroom.
I still live with my family so common areas are cleaned frequently due to pets and my moms need to be busy, but my room is 90% of the time a disaster...

Please, America, legalize same sex marriage so I can make this woman my wife!

(For as bad as I am at cleaning, I will make up for it in the bedroom)

Hey, it's legal in CT. My fiance is down with the three way. :smokin:

    Legal in WA. 4way?

Oh also I clean a lot. And I bake. I'm like level 60 housewife.

I don't think one person should be allowed to just stake ownership of you. I feel we need an auction so everyone has a fair chance.
If you're going to cohabitate with me, don't you think this should be a joint agreement? Bad kitty. No more grilled cheese for you.

I literally have a cleaning schedule. I got tired of wasting an entire day doing laundry and cleaning the house, so I split it up fairly evenly throughout the week. One room, one load of laundry, half hour every day. It makes my life easier.

I do dishes daily (no dishwasher), pick up every night before bed, and do yard work as needed.

I clean everyday, too, but I have 6 people in my house, one which is a baby, and 4 more who do not pickup after themselves everyday, sooooo . . . it doesn't look like I clean everyday, but I do some form of cleaning every day and some form of yelling at people to pickup or do their chores. It's a never ending battle. I can't work full-time and pickup after everyone and find time to watch what I'm eating and find time to exercise and find time to just have a life all in the same day. LOL. That **** all gets spread out over the month and if I am lucky I have a few days where the house is uncluttered.

If you mean dandelion, she offered up her services. No auction needed :smokin:

Maybe we could do a lottery system where she spends one day a week at each of our houses. LOL.

I feel like I clean everyday since I've gotten married. Haha. When I was still single, I hated hated cleaning. I was the laziest person ever!

But since I've been married, I kinda hate seeing dishes in the sink so I will do dishes before I cook, while I cook, after. etc etc. My husband on the other hand never helps me clean or cook! :( Okay, maybe once in like two months lol.

I clean my house once a week, aside from nightly dishes, but when i clean, i CLEAN. I have OCD so i spend the entire day cleaning, dusting, reorganizing, sweeping moping shampooing the carpet doing every piece of laundry in the house and everything, i mean absolutely EVERYTHING gets a once over with disinfectant.

Smack him around a bit. That usually works. lol In all seriousness, I don't work, so I don't expect him to do anything atm, but when I was working, I was on my feet 8 hours a day so I made sure he knew he had to pick up after his damn self, haha.

If you kick him out I can bring mine...he's kinda smelly but he's great in the sack!

I have OCD as well, but I manage it with medication. That being said, there are some things that stuck, like cleaning, but it has no longer become so bad that it interrupts my daily life. The OCD side still loves it. This thread is like mental porn for me.

The dishes and kitchen get done every day, as does the sweeping, swiffering, vacuuming and cleaning the litter box. The bathroom is cleaned 2x a week and I change the linens once a week. Laundry seems to be an every other day sort of thing... I wish I could say the furniture dusting and window washing happened weekly, but it's more like once a month. I'd like my house to be spic & span all the time, but with a toddler and a baby due in 2.5 months, I'm content with keeping the floors and kitchen clean!
