Has anyone else seen this article?? Good lord how shallow can a person be! I will never give them my business even when I can fit into their "exclusive" clothing!

I read it and it literally made me want to throw up in my mouth. What an ignorant and stupid thing to put out there...

I remember the time my godmother and I went into this store for the first time. We thought the little bras on the wall were a joke and circled the whole entire store before realizing they weren't getting ANY bigger and we were on our way out the exit.

So I backed up and asked the girl....do you have any bra's for a person my size (in earnest). Blank stare. Like seriously totally blank. I wondered if the zombie apocolypse had just started at that moment. Then when we walked out all cool and collected my godmother snarted, squarted, and peezed, all at the same time while snarfing, and i forget the others (see the other thread http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/981759-why-is-snarting-primarily-a-female-phenomenon.)

I was totally serious and saw no humor in the situation WHATsoever since I sincerely wanted to buy my bra at a place that smelled so wonderful and was so dimly lit.

Now that I read the article I'm just gonna buy one of their men's T-Shirts in size extra large meant for athletes and wear it to the next public appearance this man does.

    Abercrombie-and-Fitch-T-Shirts-901_LRG.jpg

I just hope it gets to happen before I fit into his regular sized clothes.

QUOTED FROM ARTICLE: "Lewis said that the only reason Abercrombie offers XL and XXL in men’s sizes is to appeal to large athletes"

This is Mark Jefferies...clearly he was NOT part of the cool kids, and is trying way to hard to be one. Sorry buddy, your time has passed.

I love A&F.... it lets me identify whos a *kitten* without even having to talk to them. On the other hand I hate their stores and the all out assault on my senses they are making by spraying that damn pefume in the air. Walking past A&F is worse than walking past a yankee hill candle store. I can seriously smell the local A&F from across the mall. It is non consensual.

Thanks now I know who to look for when I'm all decked out in his XXL t shirt and jacket. I'll probably find a bag or backpack to rock or anything else with their logo. It'll be a Fitch in.

I walk a wide circle around that store in the mall because the stench is enough to incapacitate an elephant. I don't know how the skinny kids who shop and work there can do so without gas masks.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. He does not like "FAT" chicks wearing his clothes, I take my money elsewhere and buy from someone whose opinion is different from A&F. What's the problem.

Me too. My friend always wanted to shop there, but I just couldn't stand getting within 20 feet of the entrance! I'd wait outside for her.

I know I used to own a couple pair of their pants years ago, but I bought them at a thrift store. I'm not about name brands, but they fit my long legs and were cheap. I like cheap.

The smell is obnoxious! I read the article but I still like some of their women's clothing. When I was super skinny I wore them a lot. Now my shoulders bust out of everything. If I get bigger sizes to fit them, it looks like maternity wear.

Read kind of a similar story about Lululemon... http://techmommy.ca/2012/03/09/i-will-never-own-a-pair-of-lululemon-pants/

I was confused when I read that they don't make the Plus sizes because the fabric is too expensive and larger people wouldn't be able to afford them.... weird, being that they have no problem making the men's sizes large... large enough to fit a size 18 woman. And franky... I don't know any heavier woman that wouldn't shell out any amount of money to assist in looking great. I spent $100 on a pair of Silver Jeans yesterday because my *kitten* looks amazing in them and the "treat" of being able to see myself as a sexy woman right now gave me a boosted effort in my campaign to loose weight. Sometimes that's all we need.

Meh, their clothes are poorly made and overpriced.

Fun fact: The only time I wore Abercrombie and Fitch was when I was an overweight middle schooler.

    Haha ^^This^^

Ironic too that one of the ugliest men I've ever seen says he only wants good looking people wearing his product.... he must not wear his own clothes then.

I have not shopped at that store and do not defend any poor choices they make.

But, that aside, it is important to know that there are a lot of plus sized only stores.

Also, the vast majority of stores do not sell the xxs sizes. So, when there is a store that specializes in smaller sizes, only sells smaller sizes, or sells sizes in smaller sizes that are a size small (instead of selling an extra small that is actually a medium). Those are the stores I am going to shop at, and take note of and know that I will be able to go to that store and actually find clothing that fits me.

Whenever I hear people complaining that a certain store only sells small sizes I go check it out because maybe that will be a place that will be easy for me to shop at, that will have a wider selection and will actually maybe even have some items that fit me. Small people need clothing and lingerie also. The reality is that anyone that is either larger than average or smaller than average is going to have trouble finding clothing, and as a result there will be companies that cater to smaller people and companies that cater to larger people.

As a fat chick, I don't give a rats *kitten*. He is entitled to his preferences. Why do people think that they are the only one who is allowed to have an opinion? Get over it.

I don't mind him having an opinion, just as long as he keeps it to himself in polite society like almost everyone else does. Except that I think he is purposely rattling some cages and then that's just another thing altogether. I take Binary's point quite well actually however, not surprising. Except again that his opinions border on rant like and shock value and seem disingenuine for this.

Stores like Lane Bryant only cater to plus size. How is that different? It's the clientele he chooses to bring into his store. As someone who wouldn't fit into the clothes there, it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is the nauseating scent that triggers my chronic migraines. That pisses me off.

I used to work at Abercrombie in college. This is old news. You absolutely had to have a certain "look" to work there.,,,,,,,,and the clothing catered to that clientele as well.

Yeah, it's good when a store caters to small people because they are trying to fill a void in the market. But, it's not cool the reasons behind why A&F is doing that.

I don't expect anyone to keep their thoughts to themselves because I don't intend to keep mine to MYSELF. Free speech. It's not very polite after all to tell people that they can only say things that you approve of. I say he can say what ever he wants, if I don't like what he says, I am sure it wont keep me up tonight, or any other night, because I will get over it.

It's marketing. He wants a certain market to buy his clothes so that's who he markets them to. Straight business.
