in this order
wrong choices in food and great amounts of chocolate as a teen with little exercise
lots of alcohol
pregnancy
not exercising after pregnancy
2nd pregnancy
comfort eating because i was miserable about being fat with zero exercise
3rd pregnancy
hit close to 300lbs and decided to lose weight.......
4th pregnancy (sods law been on diet about 2 weeks when i found out)
didn't use pregnancy as an excuse to gain any more weight though, my daughter was born 18th october and i started to diet the following 1st january0 -
I got fat originally because I ate whatever I wanted, and that was obviously way over my TDEE.
Back in 2008/2009, I got fat again because of emotional eating. I was in an abusive relationship that ended badly, and I ate to compensate for all the "good" emotions I was missing out on. And then I started going out with my current husband, and I continued to eat emotionally because I was so happy.
My fat gain had nothing to do with laziness or lack of exercise. I have always been into working out. I played baseball, football, and tennis growing up, and then more recently, I do swimming, running, biking, and weight lifting. I didn't always exercise to attempt weight loss, I've just always enjoyed being active.
And because food is my biggest hurdle, that's why I am here on MFP. Without tracking my food and planning my meals, I will most likely gain weight again.0 -
Lazy
Addicted to television
Addicted to eating junk
Addicted to eating junk while watching television
Not enough structure in my after school life.
Lack of discipline... My parents allowed me to watch way too much TV.
My diet was mostly Pizza & Hotdogs everyday after school because nobody was home to cook me food. Microwave/Oven everything.
Depression
Various points in my life I moved around a lot & didn't have friends.
Thats the main ones I figure. lol. These all started to gradually change and go away as I got older.
None of these are factors in my life, anymore.0 -
Comfort eating, bad role models growing up and not being taught anything about proper nutrition, laziness, boredom eating0
-
Big portion sizes, junk food and lack of exercise.0
-
Too many takeaways
No exercise, not even much walking
Too much alcohol
Lots of chocolate/biscuits while studying
...I really regret it all and wish I'd been more educated about everything. But oh well, I'm almost back to where I was so there's no point in dwelling on what happened. And all those takeaways were nice at the time0 -
Pregnancy, the only times I've ever put on excess weight...made sure I lost it all after each baby though.0

1) Eating the same portion sizes as my DH (who is a foot taller than I)
2) Full-time caregiving for two disabled children and one disabled adult
3) Depression
4) Not working out due to 2 and 3
I gained the last 10 lbs back by not working out (new work schedule, new trainer, etc) and not watching my food amounts but just trying to eat cleaner. Back to the food scale I go.0 -

sh!tty marriage + pregnancy + lots of burritos + I don't give a crap anymore + laziness = how I got fat.
happy new marriage + caring about myself + eating healthy + exercise + mindfulness = training to be fit.

Started to gain weight after high school because I was no longer in sports but ate whatever I wanted. Then I got pregnant, lost about 20 pounds because my morning sickness lasted all day and it was hard to keep any food down. so after 9 months of really not eatting much and then not eatting healthy foods because i had a new born took up most of my time I gained 60 pounds. so I ate myself fat.0

Terrible marriage, low self esteem, 3 kids in a row.
Got rid of the first one and the second one improved! So much happier and healthier now!0 -
Well, when I turned 12 I started to get bigger (I think my metabolism dropped) but it was somewhat stable. After my step-father passed away, I found solice in food and just got far too carried away. So that's why I'm trying to better myself now:)0

nutella...... oh so good.
That too! Lol0 -
I got fat because of my love for food and for the lack of guidance in that aspect. I just ate what was cooked at home, it wasnt until I stepped on the scale one day and weighed 290 lbs that I started realizing I was fat. I hold my weight well, so even at 290 lbs I didnt look huge and that also allowed me to gain weight.0

I stopped eating healthy food while unemployed and allowing my bf to dictate what we were eating since he was the one buying it. So we're talking soda, fried foods, greasy foods, starch and no veggies. I was still running but that didn't stop the weight from creeping on. Now that I'm working again, I can buy better food, healthier food. I'm also working out more0

I gained about 50 pounds in a 3 year span, i had pcos syndrome which is what a large amount of women have and probably do not realize it, do not want to gross anyone out about my past medical condition but it did consist of large amounts of heavy bleeding, sometimes for months at a time. i was like that for about 3 years, had numerous surgeries throughout the years and finally i found a new doctor and he took care of the problem , thank you lord. so now i do not have any cycles which is sooooo awesome and now i can exercise and have dropped almost all that weight i had gained during that time, i just need about 22 pounds left. i feel great and have not been down to this weight in such a long time ......i thank god first, and second also my doctor for knowing what to do to help me be healthy again. i am truly blessed0
